Serafina (Part 2)
(Adventurer, remember to close your eyes and listen to the music after reading the poem. We return to your earliest journey as a seven year old child who escaped the prison tower. You are now flying wherever your wings take you.)
My six wings glow like a white hot ember as I fly through falling snow
They seem to be taking me up higher where they know I should go!
Soon I'm flying through the sunset clouds
Wisps of cotton surround me, some gentle colors, others loud.
Eventually I break through to the surface above
The open sky here is empty as I hover looking like a lonely dove.
A sea of clouds below me stretches as far as the eye can see
Only one green mountain top pokes above where I notice it visibly.
My wings decide to take me to that grassy spot and as I glide near
There are trees and a village on this mountain, buildings are now clear!
Scratched doors and some crumbling walls have white paint but very little
Some houses are arranged in a circle with a golden fountain in the middle.
My wings finally allow me to land near this fountain, all six have flown so far
I stand in the grass before this fountain shaped like a six pointed star.
It is not filled with water, instead there is a pool of amber perfumed oil
I was really thirsty and am upset to not have a drink after all of that toil!
Next to me is one lit candle somebody placed on a golden stand
But I'm too angry to wonder why so I smack it with my hand!
The lit candle is knocked over the fountain's golden walls
And I start running away as into the the oil candle flame falls!
The entire pool catches fire and the flames rage high into the air!
There is the sound of mechanical gears and quaking earth so downward I stare.
The entire fountain is moving to the side!
Now I see the stone staircase below that did hide!
I follow the staircase down until its end
There I see something too heavenly for me to comprehend!
A large room is before me with walls, floor, and ceiling of clear glass
I see clouds through this window room with furniture of gold silk and brass.
It looks as if the whole room is floating in the sky!
Who would hide an elegant place under a cliff with clouds so high?
I realize that to investigate there is another risk I must take
I carefully step onto the glass floor and am relieved when it doesn't break!
There are scrolls on one of the tables that I decide to read
They are records of a secret group who comfort and perform heroic deeds.
One of the scrolls has an ink drawing of people, each with six wings in flight!
Could they be like me? I sure hope that they might!
Below the scroll drawing is a creed or motto of some sort
The poem seems to be deep in meaning although it's very short:
"Caring for others is the divine will"
"Praise and prophecy are what angelic voices fulfill"
"Zeal burns to warm cold hearts in need"
"Stained glass and feathers before unchained servants now freed"
At those mysterious words I am left to wonder
Until footsteps at the stairs startle me as if they were loud thunder!
There stands a man without wings dressed in a white robe
His face is ancient and silvery hair falls over his neck and ear lobes.
He says "I am the village keeper for the Serafina order's secret base"
"I thought you were one of them, but you look too young in the face."
"Perhaps you are a child of theirs because you have six wings"
I answer him "I am just a lost orphan who doesn't understand anything."
He continues "Dear child you can have a home here in the mountain village."
"My wife and some other villagers live here where no thieves can pillage."
I answer "But I had a home and what about these angelic people who save?"
He replies "The Serafina haven't returned for many years I'm afraid."
I kneel down dissapointed, there's so much I need for and yearn
The man reassures me "Don't worry, you will learn."
"This village has trained some of the best heroes ever known"
"Some day when you're ready, you can make the long journey back all alone."
