Chapter 8: Everything will be just fine
"Demons! Angels! And now the Grim Reaper himself! This is just too much!" Chloe yelled.
"Grace, think you could calm her down?" Death asked.
Grace pressed her hand to Chloe's forehead. Chloe collapsed to the ground, completely unconscious.
"Oh shit! Did you just kill her!?!?" Vicky asked.
"Of course not!" Grace replied. "She's just sleeping. She'll wake up tomorrow and think this was all a bad dream."
Vicky turned her attention to Death. "So, am I dead?"
"Tonight, is not your time." Death replied.
"So why didn't you help me when that demon was forcing poison down my throat?" Vicky asked. "Aren't you supposed to be like, super powerful."
"I am a true neutral force," Death replied. "Besides, Grace saved you, didn't she?"
"So, are you the one who sent me that sword?" Grace asked.
"What sword?" Death asked back.
"Uh... never mind." Grace said. She pressed her hand to Vicky's forehead and Vicky fell asleep. "This whole night will be nothing but a bad dream for the both of them. You know, The Devil is here in Amity Park. I thought you said this place would be safe."
"He's here?" Death said.
"He became the dean of this collage." Grace explained.
"Then we should leave, find another town, another realm. Somewhere Lucifer hasn't touched." Death said.
"No." Grace replied.
"No?"
"I like it here," Grace said. "I've made friends."
"Human friends?" Death said. "You know humans don't live forever. You will have to say goodbye to them sooner or later."
"I don't care," Grace said. "I like them."
...
Vicky woke the next morning. The previous night was a blur.
"WAH!" Vicky shrieked at the site of a possum sleeping on the pillow next to her head.
"Sorry about that, he's mine." Chester said, picking the animal off the couch. "He may not be the most conventional pet, but believe me, he's friendly."
"Rough night?" Timmy asked.
Vicky tried to remember what happened last night. "I don't know."
"Been there." Chester replied.
"Aren't you guys like, 20?" Vicky asked.
"What the cops and our parents don't know, won't hurt 'em." Chester said.
"That's, not surprising coming from you." Vicky said.
"Need a Tylenol or something for the hangover?" Timmy asked.
"Actually no." Vicky said. Despite how much she drank, Vicky was not feeling any effects of a hangover, which was weird.
"Hey Timmy? Can I borrow some change for the laundry matt? I only have like three shirts left, and this one needs some washing." Vicky asked.
"Sure, but don't make a habit of it. You have enough troubles as it is, I don't want you to be owing me a lot of money." Timmy replied. "And if you need a job, which you really do, I actually met up with your sister last night. She's working at the animal shelter near campus, and it sounds like she could really use some help."
...
"It feels so good to finally be back in my lab." Jack Fenton said with tears of joy. War had finished building a new gate for the Fenton portal and the temperature in the room cooled down to livable conditions.
"I should probably get back to rounding up those ghosts." Danny mentioned. "Any word on how many are out there?"
The IT angel Zack sat at a computer in the lab.
"It looks like that containment device was designed to hold thousands of spirits." Zach said. "Really makes you wonder what those Guys in White were doing with them all."
"Well then we should have been hunting those ghosts since yesterday." Sam suggested.
"Well I got one of them." Danny said.
"Yeah, what was that? Some sort of social media ghost?" Jack said.
"The ghost of social justice." Danny replied. "And I do NOT want to know her backstory."
Zack looked around the room to make sure the coast was clear. "Hey uh, Danny, right? I should warn you about those Horsemen of the Apocalypse."
"What about them?" Danny asked.
"The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse serve neither Heaven nor Hell," Zack said. "They are helping you now because Lucifer is gunning for them. But the horsemen look out for their own, and ONLY their own."
"Well what about Grace?" Sam asked. "Yeah, she can get a little nuts if she feels threatened, but she seems pretty generous to me. She even stopped a woman from committing suicide."
"Well, Grace isn't really a horsemen, now is she." Zach said, while typing away at his computer.
"Uh, what's that supposed to mean?" Sam asked. "I mean, just because she's not some force of destruction."
Zach turned around in his swivel chair. "Ooooooohhhhhh, you don't know do you?"
"Know what?" Danny said.
"Grace is not one of the horsemen." Zack said. "The "Horseman of Love" Isn't a thing. Grace is just a lowly cherub. She's like cupid, a love angel."
"But Grace said..." Danny replied.
"Oh, Grace doesn't know," Zach said. "it was too long ago for her to remember. But she started life as a simple cherub. But, even though she was a small child when it happened, she aided in defeating Lucifer during his original rebellion about 65 million years ago.
Lucifer had almost beaten his brother, the archangel Michael and was about to deal a fatal blow, when Grace shot him with an arrow. Then Michael was able to get the upper hand on Lucifer and throw him out of Heaven.
Death himself was so impressed by this, he granted little Grace a tiny fraction of his powers. Of, course Death is so powerful that even a small fraction of his powers made Grace stronger than most angels. So, Death and the other horsemen raised her as one of their own. And of course they've told her she was a true horseman, and she believes it to this day."
"How do you know all this?" Danny asked.
"Because I'm the guy that fixes God's computers." Zack said. "Plus, I was there."
Just then Danny's phone rang. It was Grace.
"Don't say anything about what the nerd angel said." Sam warned him.
"Hey Grace." Danny answered the phone.
"Hey uh Danny," Grace said. "You know how you have that cup thingy that sucks up ghosts?"
"The Fenton Thermos?"
"Yeah, well I got a pretty big sample of Demon blood," Grace explained. "Long story. But I was thinking maybe your Dad can use the DNA to like, upgrade some of your equipment so that it works on demons too."
"Uh sure, why don't you bring that on over." Danny said.
They herd the sound of flapping wings as Grace appeared in the room.
She had changed her jeans out for a pink mini skirt. In one hand she held her phone, which she hung up upon seeing Danny. Her other arm held a pair of jeans, and a sweater that seemed to be soaked in black goo. She plopped the soaked clothing on a nearby table.
Sam picked up the soaked sweater. Then she looked at the sweater Grace was wearing.
"So is every shirt you have, just that same sweater?" Sam asked.
"Yeah." Grace said.
"So, this goo is demon blood?" Jack said, looking at the soaked cloths. "How did you get a hold of this?"
"I... I really don't wanna talk about that." Grace said.
...
Lucifer again appeared in the lab of Denzel Crocker. This time he had a gift for him. The navigational system from an advanced alien race.
"With this, you should be more than capable of finding Fairy World." Lucifer said.
"Really, where'd you get this?" Crocker asked.
"From an alien race that is... let's just say they're no longer around." Lucifer said.
"Well if this is from an ancient alien race, How, do we know it still works." Crocker asked.
"Because it was working when I found it a couple hours ago." Lucifer explained.
"I thought you said the alien race was no longer around." Crocker said.
"Well they went extinct a couple hours ago." Lucifer said. "Enjoy your gift." Then he vanished.
"Hmm... I seem to have a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach." Crocker said.
...
Vicky stood outside the door of a local pet shelter.
"Vicky!" Her sister Tootie came out the door to greet her with a smile. "Glad you could come."
The sisters hugged for a moment.
"I think that's the first time I've ever seen you show any affection to another human being." Tootie said, breaking away from the hug.
"Well I've really been trying to turn my life around lately." Vicky replied. "I've kind of been looking back at what I've done in the past, and I realized I was a real monster. I..."
"Yeah I heard you tried to k..." Tootie said. "That you've been having a hard time. You know I really shouldn't give you this job. With your criminal history and everything. But you are my sister, and well at least Timmy claims you've changed."
"Timmy? You talked to Timmy?" Vicky said. "I thought you guys broke up."
"Well we're still friends." Tootie said. "Do you know if he's seeing anyone?"
"I don't think so." Vicky said.
"Do you know what the deal is with that blond girl he's been hanging out with? Chloe, I think."
"I wouldn't know." Vicky said. "So anyway, this job."
"Yeah, I can get you started this week. Say you look different." Tootie said.
"What do you mean?" Vicky said.
"Your eyes." Tootie said. "They're blue."
...
Zack was working on his computer in the Fenton lab alone.
"Zack? Didn't expect to find an angel here." A dark voice came from behind Zack that sent chills down his spine. "Gee I'm just running into familiar faces everywhere today."
Zach turned around to see Lucifer with an evil smirk on his face.
"Oh fuck!" Zack said. But before Zack could do anything Lucifer was on him. The Devil grabbed the angel by the throat and lifted him into the air.
"Now, what exactly is an angel like you doing working with the Fentons?"
"Trying to stop you, fuck face!" Zach choked out.
"Fuck face? Is that the best you can come up with?" Lucifer asked. "You squirmy little cuck of an angel. You pathetic little nerd." Then Lucifer slammed Zack into the ground. Then Lucifer stabbed Zack with his pitchfork.
Angelic light shot out of Zack's eyes and his wings turned to ash on the ground.
Lucifer yanked his pitchfork out of the angel's corps, golden blood dripping from the sharp points onto the ground.
"Hey buddy, do angels eat?" Jack said coming down the stairs. "Because I'm cooking up some delicious weenies that are begging to be eaten... Holy crab cakes!"
Lucifer turned in Jack's direction.
"Oh look," Lucifer said. "Diabetes manifested as a man."
"You... you're him, aren't you?" Jack said. "The lord of darkness."
"Lord of darkness, king of evil, great deceiver blah blah blah." Lucifer mocked. "What is with you humans and giving things a billion different names?"
"Be gone Satan!" Jack shouted. "I will not have you in this house!"
"Well what are you going to do about it blubber man?" Lucifer said.
Jack took out a ray gun and aimed it at Lucifer. He shot a blast of energy at Lucifer who deflected it with his hand sending the shot into the wall.
The fallen angel flicked his hand and the ray gun was yanked from Jack's hand.
Jack was then telepathically pulled through the air. Lucifer stabbed his pitchfork into Jack's stomach. Crimson red blood shot out of Jack's mouth just before Lucifer slammed the fat man to the ground.
"Get away from my husband! You fallen daddy's boy!" Maddie came charging into the basement wielding a staff with a plasma blade extending from either end.
She swung at the Devil twice and Satan dodged both strikes. Maddie swung a third time and Lucifer blocked it with his pitchfork.
"Well aren't you a strong woman." Lucifer smirked.
"You're darn tutin I am." Maddie said. "I've raised two kids and my husband, who is really just an overgrown child himself."
"Ah yes, a mother's love. One of the strongest things in the universe." Lucifer said. "Or at least that's what you humans believe."
Lucifer swiped at Maddie's legs with his pitchfork and knocked her to the ground. Then he plunged the fork into her stomach.
"GAH!!!!" Maddie cried out in pain.
Lucifer knelt over Maddie, pinning her arms to the ground with his knees. "But the reality is, your love for your family means nothing to a cosmic being. You know, a pretty girl like you, I like to take my time with. Saver every moment."
Then he dug his thumbs into Maddie's eyes as she called out in pain.
Blood oozed down her face like red tears, then her eyeballs popped out of their sockets. Lucifer wrapped Maddie's optic nerves around his fingers and lightly tugged at them.
"Gah! Stop!" Maddie begged as the pain increased.
Lucifer smiled and drool dripped from his lips. He loved the sound of begging, especially from a woman. He then yanked the poor woman's eyes out, the optic nerves severing with a snap.
Maddie shrieked in pain. Her heart was beating faster than it had before from both pain and fear.
"Please, just leave my boy alone." Maddie pleaded.
Lucifer slid his fingers into Maddie's mouth. He got a grip on her lower jaw and ripped it from her skull.
Maddie Fenton let out a few final coughs before her life ended.
Lucifer looked up to see Danny standing in the doorway, a look of shock and disbelief in his face.
Danny cupped his hands over his mouth as tears began to roll down his face.
Lucifer slowly got to his feet, his fingers dripping with the blood of Danny's mother.
"Y-you killed them." Danny said. "You killed my entire family."
"In my defense your sister's death was an accident." Lucifer said. "Much like her birth." He smirked.
Then Danny transformed into his ghost form, ready to fight.
"So, you're the famous Danny Phantom." Lucifer said. His eyes started to glow red. A heavenly light shined behind him casting a shadow of his angel wings on the far wall.
Danny's heart skipped a beat, this was unlike anything he had faced before. He had faced many powerful and evil ghosts in the past: Skulker, Vlad, even the Ghost King.
But this, this was the literal Devil himself, the embodiment of evil standing before him in the flesh. And he had just tortured and killed his parents.
Danny didn't know what feeling was stronger inside of him. His fear, or his burning rage.
Danny rushed at Lucifer his fist ready to strike. But the Devil cough Danny's fist in midair and flung him to the ground.
Lucifer continued to slam Danny into the ground like a ragdoll.
Danny shot a blast of ectoplasmic energy at Lucifer. But Lucifer caught it like it was a baseball and threw it back at Danny.
Danny fell backward. He managed to get back to his feet.
"Well that's new." Danny said, wiping a trickle of blood from his face. "But I have a few new tricks myself." Then he turned into his angel form.
"You're an angel?" Lucifer said as mighty wings sprouted from Danny's back.
Danny whipped out the sward War made for him.
He swung his sward at a confused Lucifer striking him across the chest and splattering the wall with golden blood.
"Hmm a challenge." Lucifer said as his wound healed.
Lucifer waved his hand and the ghost portal opened. The heat from the fires of Hell cause the dead bodies in the room to instantly ignite.
Danny and Lucifer clashed their weapons.
Lucifer grabbed hold of the blade of Danny's sward. Lucifer's golden blood dripped as he tightened his grip on Danny's blade. He then ripped the blade from Danny's hand. The Devil then stabbed Danny with his own sward, running the blade through his stomach and out his back.
Lucifer grabbed Danny's throat and squeezed tight.
"You know Daniel," Lucifer said. "This is a really nice home you got. I think it's only fair that I show you my home."
Then Lucifer tossed Danny through the ghost portal and into Hell.
"Well..." Lucifer said. "Now that is what I call a chokeslam to Hell."
