chapter 2: the power of Love part 1

https://youtu.be/VkAVfsw5xSQ

Years later.

"I can't believe they named a school after you." Sam said to Danny as they stood just outside Danny Phantom University.

"Ugh so embarrassing." Danny Said.

"Oh, come on Danny you're famous, learn to enjoy it." Sam said.

"Yeah well I can't help thinking this fame might be a bad thing." Danny said.

"Why?" Sam asked.

"Well what if, you know my enemies find me or something?" Danny replied.

"Danny most of the ghosts in the ghost zone respect you now." Sam assured him

"Yeah but I can't help feeling that something worse is on the horizon." Danny remarked

"Worse than the desasteroid?" Sam asked

...

Sam entered her dorm and that is where she met her roommate.

"You must be Sam." The girl said.

The girl had red brown hair, tied in a pony tail, and sky-blue eyes. She had on a soft pink sweater with a red heart in the middle, she had blue jeans and white socks (she was inside so she didn't have shoes on at the moment. But she owned a pair of black canvas shoes)

"I'm Grace." The girl said.

Something was familiar about this girl

"Uh do I know you?" Sam asked. "You look familiar."

"We went to high school together" Grace explained. "Well... sort of. I was only attending your school for like the last semester of senior year, so I didn't really get to know anybody."

Sam noticed the pink and white covers on the girl's bed and pink fuzzy rug on the floor.

Oh, great Sam thought another shallow pretty girl to make me feel miserable

"Look Grace." Sam said. "I'm sure you've noticed you and I are pretty different. I'm sure you got your thing and I got mine. So, you stick to your thing, and I'll stick to mine, and we'll get along just fine, ok?"

Sam placed a hand on Grace's shoulder.

"Whoa." Sam said. That pink sweater Grace was wearing was perhaps the softest thing Sam had ever felt in her entire life. Sam held Grace's arm stroking her hand up and down the sleeve. The soft warm fuzzy sleeve. "Where did you get this sweater?"

"I uh... made it." Grace said.

"What's it made out of?"

"Just wool." Grace said with uncertainty. "From um... alpacas."

"Alpacas?"

"Yeah uh... my family has an alpaca farm." Grace said. Most people would be able to point out the obvious lies in Grace's voice at this point, but Sam seemed to be distracted by the softness of Grace's sweater.

"You just cut the animals hair off for that right?" Sam said. "You don't kill them?"

"Of course." Grace giggled. "No animals were harmed in the making of this sweater."

"I respect that." Sam said with a smile.

"Can I have my arm back?" Grace asked.

"Oh." Sam blushed as she let Grace's arm go. "Sorry I kind of lost myself for a moment there."

"If you want I can make you a sweater like this one. I'm guessing you'll want it in black."

...

Dany on the other hand, did not have as pleasant of an experience.

As he walked into his dorm, a foul stench hit his nose like a brick wall. It smelled like rotten eggs.

"Danny Fenton right." His roommate said. The boy had back hair with dark brown eyes. He had a red AC/DC shirt on. He had blue jeans and white sneakers. "Name's Damian."

"Uh, nice to meet you." Danny said, holding his nose.

"So, you're like a super hero, right?" Damian asked.

"Uh yeah. No offense dude, but I think you need to take a shower."

"Ah I will in a bit." Damian said. "So, I bet you get a lot of girls, right? Man, you must be drowning in pussy."

"Uh, I actually have a girlfriend."

"So."

"Dude seriously take a shower." Danny demanded.

"You and I... we're gonna have a Hell of a time, Danny Phantom." Damian said, followed by a snicker as he left the room. Hopefully to take a shower.

...

Grace was strolling across campus when she came across a couple arguing over something. She put a hand on the shoulders of the young man and woman.

"Don't worry I'm sure you two will work it out." Grace said with a smile. As Grace walked away, the couple immediately apologized to each other and made up, as if they were under some sort of spell.

...

Sam was walking back from class when she was stopped by a group of 7 girls. The girls were all very attractive and dressed in high end clothing. All except for one who was pretty fat.

"Say you're Dany Phantom's girl aren't you." One of the girls asked.

"The name's Sam." Sam replied.

"I'm Anna." The girl said. Then she introduced the rest of her friends. "This is, Kathy, Ashley, Beth, Jenny, Stacy, and the fat one is Amy."

"Ok." Sam said.

"Why do you always have to introduce me as the fat one?" Amy asked.

"As a freshmen I'm sure you feel intimidated by this school." Anna said. "Well if you wanna fit in, just stick with us. We kind of own this school."

"Fit in?" Sam said. "Um... I thought this was collage. I think I'm a little too old to be worrying about the in crowd."

"Oh really." Anna said. "I understand you're knew here, but I have been part of this school since before it was named after your little boyfriend."

"So, what were you held back a few years." Sam asked.

"No, I came back to get my master's degree, and doctorate" Anna said. "If anyone here was held back it would be Ashley."

"Excuse me?" Ashely said.

"Hey Sam." Danny interrupted. "How was your... OH MY GOSH WHAT IS THAT STENCH!?!?!"

"I don't smell anything." Sam said.

"Ugh it smells worse than my soon to be ex-roommate." Danny said holding his nose.

"Well if it isn't the legendary Danny Phantom." Anna said. As she got closer the rotten egg smell got worse.

How can Sam not smell that?

"I bet you think you're some kind of big shot because you saved the world from a giant rock." Anna said.

"Well that is kind of a big deal." Danny said.

"Well guess what," Anna said. "In this school, I am fucking better than you."

A chill ran down Danny's spine.

"Hey Sam!" another voice.

Grace joined the group.

Anna looked at grace like a deer in headlights. Her and her friends left, and the terrible rotten egg smell vanished.

"Oh, Danny." Sam said. "I'd like you to meet my roommate Grace."

"Pleasure to meet you." Grace extended her hand for a handshake. "Always nice to meet a real-life superhero."

The chills in Danny's body grew stronger as he shook Grace's hands. "Have we met before?"

"Well I went to your high school for senior year." Grace said. "But we never really talked. I didn't really talk to anyone that whole year."

"Sam can I talk to you in private?" Danny asked.

...

"I don't think Grace is who she says she is." Danny said.

"What are you talking about?" Sam asked.

"I'm pretty sure she's that thing that came out of the Ghost Zone years ago." Danny said. "The one that didn't trigger my ghost sense."

"Come on Danny." Sam said. "Grace is just a really sweet girl. And I don't think she has any real friends."

"That's another thing." Danny said.

"So, it's suspicious that she doesn't have any friends?" Sam said. "Uh have you forgotten how many friends you had in high school?"

"Have you SEEN what Grace looks like?" Danny said. "That girl is like a 9 on her worst day. How does a girl that attractive have no friends? A girl like Grace would need to TRY to be unpopular. Yet somehow, she was so unpopular even you me and Tucker didn't notice her? She doesn't want to be noticed."

"What are you saying?"

"Well we know she's not a ghost." Danny said. "Otherwise she would have triggered my ghost sense. But whatever she is, she is NOT human, and she is hiding from something."

...

Thankfully Danny was able to get a knew roommate.

Danny's knew roommate was a nerdy looking guy, with a white t-shirt, glasses and a pocket protector.

"You must be Danny Fenton." The young man said, shaking Danny's hand. "I'm James."

At least James smelled a lot better than Damian.

"You like video games?" James asked.

"Boy do I ever." Danny said.

"Cool, I got a PlayStation 4, a Nintendo Switch, and an old school NES." James said. "I also have an Atari and a lot of other old school game systems, but I left them at home. The dorms are only so big you know?"

"I hear ya." Danny said.

"If you don't mind my asking." James said. "I heard you had trouble with your old roommate. Who was he?"

"Some guy named Damian." Danny replied.

"Well I never heard of him." James replied.

"Hey, you got anything to drink?" Danny asked.

"Oh no sorry man." James said. "I just ran out of beer the other day."

"I'm 18." Danny reminded James he's not old enough to drink.

"Yeah god forbid the guy who saved the world from a meteor has a beer." James said.

"I'll just go get a soda from the vending machine downstairs." Danny said.

...

"Hey Sam, I made you that sweater I promised." Grace said as Sam walked into there dorm. She held up a black sweater with a skull printed on the chest. "I thought the skull would be a good touch."

"Wow, thanks." Sam said taking the sweater. It was every bit as soft as Grace's. "You made this pretty fast."

"You don't like it?" Grace said.

"No, I love it. It's really nice." Sam apologized. "I just thought that would take longer to make. But hey what do I know, I've never knitted a sweater."

"Hey what's that?" Grace pointed to something Sam was holding in her hand.

"Oh this? I just decided to rent a movie." Sam said. "I'll watch it when I get some time alone, I don't think you'll like it."

"What movie?" Grace asked.

"It's a gory slasher movie, I don't think you'll like it." Sam said.

"I like slasher movies." Grace said.

"You do?"

"Yeah." Grace said. "Well Saw at least has a good story to it. I do prefer romantic comedies, but I'll watch anything."

"Saw?" Sam said. "You don't seem like someone who would be able to handle that much blood."

"I've seen worse." Grace said.

"When did you..." Sam said. "Never mind."

Sam put the movie into the DVD player.

"Hey what was up with those girls earlier?" Sam asked.

"You should steer clear of them." Grace warned. "They're de... not nice."

...

The hallway by the vending machine was dark and empty. A broken light flickered. Even with his ghost powers Danny felt a little uncomfortable.

As he was about to put a dollar in the machine, he smelled it. That powerful rotten egg smell.

"Hey Danny, I heard you switched roommates." A chilling voice came from behind Danny.

Danny turned around. "Damien! Look it's nothing personal I just..." Danny gave a nervous laugh.

"You don't want to be friends?" Damien said, his head cocked to the side, that rotten egg smell getting worse.

"No! It's not that I uh..."

A grin formed on Damien's face, and his eyes turned black, like deep black holes on his face.

"Uh oh." Danny said. Then an invisible force blasted him through the air, breaking through the soda machine and the wall behind it.

Danny got back to his feet and transformed into his ghost form.

"So..." Danny said. "You're a ghost."

"BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!" Damien let out a terrifying laugh. Black veins slithered from Damien's black eyes and spread across his face. "Guess again buddy boy! If I was a ghost, your precious ghost sense would have gone off."

"Then what are you?" Danny asked.

Damien's teeth sharpened to a point, claws grew from his fingertips, and small red horns grew from his forehead.

"I am a demon." Damien replied. "My real name is Zozo."

"Zozo?" Danny said. "What kind of name is that?"

"Up here they call me the Ouija board demon." Zozo said. "I'm the one who answers when you go knocking on the Devil board."

Zozo lifted up his hand and Danny went flying down the hallway. Danny got back up and phased through the walls until he was outside. He looked up to see Zozo standing before him.

'Did..." Danny started. "Did you come from the Ghost Zone."

"Sort of," Zozo replied. "I'm from Hell, but Hell is connected to the Ghost Zone."

"And you had to go through a ghost portal to get to the human world?" Danny said.

"I see what you're getting at." Zozo said, a crazed grin on his face. "You think that sweet little Grace is actually a Demon in disguise. Much like myself maybe even worse.

Think about it Daniel, it makes sense doesn't it. Grace came from the Ghost Zone, so she can't be human. She didn't trigger your ghost sense, so she can't be a ghost. As Sherlock Holmes once said, when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains must be the truth. And your little goth girlfriend Sam is now best friends with a pretty girl in a pink sweater. Wouldn't Sam usually despise a girl like Grace, she must be under a spell."

"Oh no!" Danny said. "SAM!!!!" Danny took off into the air.

Zozo lifted his hands and grabbed Danny with his telekinetic powers.

"Ah love can be such a motivator can't it?" Zozo said. "I do so love watching lesser beings squirm."

Zozo tossed Danny, sending him crashing through the rough of one of the dorms. Danny flew into the sky, flailing like a rag doll. He landed with a thud outside of campus.

Zozo teleported himself to Danny's location.

"Hmm, I was really hoping to cause some collateral damage in this fight." Zozo said.

Danny got up and shot a couple of energy blasts at Zozo. Zozo lifted his hands and blocked the blasts in midair, like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix.

"Reality is an Illusion." Zozo Joked, then gave a demonic cackle.

Danny swung his fist at Zozo and Zozo caught his fist with one hand. Zozo yawned, then proceeded to whip Danny around by his arm, smashing him into the ground, creating creators in the road.

Zozo slashed at Danny with his claws. Danny turned intangible, but the demon's claws still scratched him.

"Face it Danny." Zozo said. "I'm not one of those ghosts you can just stuff into a fucking thermos. I'm a MOTHER FUCKING DEMON! I am stronger than anything you have ever faced in your life."

Danny had one trick up his sleeve, he let out his ghostly wail. A sonic blast that normally blasts away most ghostly enemies, but drains his powers, turning him back to his human form.

Danny fell to his knees, now drained and in his human form. He looked up. To his terror he saw that Zozo was unphased, even though the ground around him was torn up from Danny's sonic blast.

Zozo pulled a pair of ear buds from his ears.

"I'm sorry did you say something?" Zozo said. "I had my headphones in."

"What the...." Danny was speechless.

Zozo flicked his hand, and Danny was once again thrown into the air. He landed again with a thud and moaned in pain.

Zozo walked over to Danny, a cocky smile on his face. Suddenly Zozo ran into some sort of invisible wall.

"What the?" Zozo said in confusion. He looked up at a sign above him. "OH, YOU GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!"

The sign read "Amity Park Cemetery."

Danny got back to his feet. His body scrapped, and his cloths torn.

"Holy land." Danny said with a smirk. "Good to know."

"GAH!" Zozo roared in anger as he punched the invisible barrier.

Danny got out his cell phone and called Sam.

...

Sam's phone rang as she and Grace were in the middle of their movie.

"Just a sec, I gotta take this." Sam said and walked into the hallway.

"Danny what's wrong?" Sam asked.

"I'm at the cemetery." Danny said. "I've been cornered BY A FUCKING DEMON!!!!!"

"A demon?" Sam said. "Hold on Danny I'll be right there."

"That's not all." Danny said. "I think Grace is one too."

"Huh?"

"Grace is a demon, Sam!" Danny warned. "You have to get out of there!"

"What? I don't think..." Sam said. "OH SHIT!"

Sam turned around to see Grace standing right in front of her.

Grace had a dark, stern look on her face, and her eyes were glowing an unearthly blue.

"G-Grace! Hey." Sam said nervously.

"Where is he!" Grace said in a dark and serious tone.

"What?" Sam was confused and getting more scared by the second.

Sam felt an invisible force pinning her against the wall. Grace's eyes glowed brighter, and the hallway got dark.

"WHERE IS DANNY PHANTOM!!!!" Grace demanded.

"The cemetery!" Sam choked out.

Grace disappeared with the sound of flapping wings.

"Oh no... DANNY!" Sam yelled.

...

Zozo continued to slash at the invisible wall of holiness surrounding the graveyard. Danny cowered in fear.

The sound of flapping wings and the crack of lightning.

Zozo turned around to see Grace standing in the street, holding what looked to be a hunting bow. Her hair and sweater soaked in the rain, and her eyes glowing bright blue.

"Zozo." Grace said. "Still up to your old tricks."

"Grace." Zozo said. "It's been a while. What? Two three thousand years."

"What are you doing here?" Grace asked. "Danny Phantom is a national hero and a nice guy. Why don't you leave him alone?"

"Better question is..." Zozo said. "What are YOU doing here? I thought you left earth in the 90s." A smile spread across Zozo's face. "You're hiding, aren't you? Hiding from you know who."

"The lightbulb?" Grace said. "He doesn't scare me."

"Of course, he does." Zozo said. "We're talking about the one who rose up against the big G O D himself. It took Michael and an army of arch angels to banish him to the depths of Hell. He's out now, and he's coming for you Grace."

"He really thinks killing me will change anything?" Grace was starting to sweat. Though you couldn't see it on account of the rain.

"Maybe it will, maybe it won't" Zozo taunted. "But like it or not, Grace. He is coming, and he will kill you."

"Just... just STOP!" Grace yelled.

"Even his name sends chills down the spines of even the strongest of angels." Zozo said. "Lucifer."

"I SAID SHUT UP!" Grace yelled. She pulled back the string of her bow. It lit up with cracks of lightning. A glowing blue arrow formed in the bow. She let the arrow loose. Lightning cracked as the arrow struck Zozo in the chest.

Electricity channeled from the arrow into Zozo's demonic body.

Grace shot two more arrows into Zozo as he started convulsing from the electricity.

Zozo teleported away and was gone. For now.

Grace ran over to the cemetery.

"Stop right there, Grace!" Danny said as Grace reached the entrance to the cemetery. "This is holy ground! No Demons can cross that barrier!"

"Uh dude." Grace said, stepping across the barrier into the cemetery.

"Oh shit!" Danny said, turning back into ghost form. He shot a couple energy blasts at Grace.

Grace blocked each blast with her bow. Danny shot a third blast, this time the blast was white, and much bigger.

The white energy hit Grace in the face. Half of Grace's head exploded, spraying her brains and chunks of skull all over the cemetery.

Danny looked at his hand in shock.

"My blasts have never been THAT strong!" He said to himself.

To his shock he realized the blood gushing out of Grace's head was not read, but golden. Also, Grace was still standing, despite having lost half of her head.

A heavenly glow emerged from the hole in Grace's skull and the missing half of her head reformed.

"Dick move dude." Grace said.

Green energy emanated from Danny's hand. "Stand back Grace. I'll keep blasting away at you until there's nothing left!"

"I don't want to fight you Danny!" Grace said.

Danny shot a couple more blasts at Grace, which she ducked and rolled out of the way of.

The yarn that made up Grace's sweater unraveled and flowed through the air like tentacles.

"Living clothing." Danny said. "That's new."

The soft sweater tentacles grabbed Danny by the arms.

"I AM NOT A SWEATER PERSON!" Danny yelled. Then he froze the soft fuzzy tentacles' and shattered them. But Grace had many more pink tentacles.

Grace's soft pink tentacles over powered Danny and wrapped him in a soft, yet incredibly strong cocoon.

Danny struggled to get free with all his strength.

"How can yarn be so strong!?!?" Danny yelled. Then a wave of peace washed over him. He suddenly felt calm and serene.

"Just take it easy." Grace said. Her tentacles let Danny go and raveled back into Grace's sweater.

"Do not be afraid Danny." Grace said.

"What are you?" Danny asked.

Then tremendous wings, full of blinding white feathers sprouted from Grace's back.

"I am an angel of the lord." Grace proclaimed.

"Holy crap!" Sam said, having just arrived atthe cemetery. "Grace is some kind of bird person!"
