"i like being alone but i want someone to be alone with, if that makes sense"
PART TEN:
T'Challa and Andrea had been walking in silence for quite a few minutes before the King turned into a massive room that looked like an office.
There was a desk in the middle of the large room. The style was clean-kept and modern, white marbled floors and flawless white walls, with sections of large, glass windows so shiny and well taken care of that you could see your reflection.
The view that the windows allowed was none other than breathtaking and Andrea almost lost herself looking at the city below her. Wakanda was truly a mind-blowing sight.
As Andrea was marveling the image before her, T'Challa noticed this as he walked up beside her and smirked looking down at his civilization as well. "Do you like the view, Ms. Barton?"
It was new hearing the words "Ms. Barton" come out of T'Challa lips with his smooth and heavy accent. However, Andrea wasn't necessarily very fond of the formality that her last name provided. "You may call me Andrea. I insist."
"Of course...Andrea." T'Challa smiled at the woman beside him.
Andrea caught him staring at her and she simply coughed moving away from the window and pretending to assess the room. "I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering them."
T'Challa sighed to himself as he noticed the distancing of Andrea. "As I was expecting. About your brother and the others I'm assuming?"
"Yes, that is correct. Will I be seeing them anytime soon?"
T'Challa took a moment to find the words to say to Andrea. Andrea took notice of this and became concerned. "Can you at least inform me that they are okay and that they are currently in good hands?"
"Yes, actually. I have been keeping in contact with the Captain himself. He wanted me to tell you as soon as you woke up that the team is fine and safe with him. They are no longer imprisoned under Secretary Ross' watch," T'Challa replied.
Andrea's eyebrows came together as she acknowledged the fact that the team was in containment for a short while. "So, you're telling me that my team was under the watch of the asshole known as Thaddeus Ross?"
"I'm afraid so, but not anymore. In fact, one of your team members is here now."
Andrea became confused and anxious. "And who would that be exactly?"
T'Challa moved swiftly do his desk chair as he motioned for Andrea to sit in the chair across from him. She took it hesitantly.
"Mr. Barnes is here under the experimentation of my sister, Shuri, who you met earlier," T'Challa said. "In fact, the trip I just came back from was returning Mr. Rogers to his team."
"What are the experimentation reasons?" Andrea asked eagerly, wanting to know more about what they were doing to the man from her past.
"My sister is working to find a way to rid Mr. Barnes' memory of any trigger words that would therefore transform him into the blind assassin," T'Challa replied as if it were no big deal whatsoever.
Andrea leaned forward and thought to herself. Was that even possible? Last she had checked, Bucky Barnes was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. It would be a miracle if Shuri could find a way to undo the mess that Hydra implanted into Bucky's mind.
"Would you like a few minutes alone, Andrea?" T'Challa noticed her gaze. It was far off, somewhere else. He was aware she was the type of person who always had something on her mind, even if it was the of the smallest, most irrelevant topic.
"That would be lovely, thank you," Andrea replied with a small smile.
T'Challa nodded in acknowledgement as he walked out of the room and closed the double doors behind him. He would wait outside for Andrea and give her as much time as she needed. He was aware it was a lot to process for the woman.
Inside the room, Andrea got up from her seat and walked up to a window. She lightly pressed her hand up to the pristine glass as she admired the scenery below her. "What have I gotten myself into," she wondered aloud.
She did risk her life to help the Captain and his best bud, but she mostly did it for her brother who she didn't even get to see in the end.
She was glad Clint was in safe hands with Mr. America, but she just wished she could see him right now. Of course she enjoyed the reassuring company that T'Challa provided, but it was nothing compared to the brotherly love she got from Clint.
Clint knew how to cheer her up, and she missed his incessant bugging already. However, she knew she could not expect T'Challa to know how to cheer her up right away, for they only just met.
Andrea looked down at her feet. She was experiencing a great amount of internal conflict and it was eating her alive. Everything that had happened to her in the last few weeks was more action than she had gotten in the past five years. For God's Sake she almost got killed.
That reminded Andrea, she never got the thank Shuri, who had been nothing but kind to her, with the exception of the girl's witty remarks here-and-there.
Andrea appreciated Shuri's spunk. She was young, and yet untouched by the harsh world. This made Andrea smile, wishing she could've had as much innocence sometimes as Shuri did. It was ripped away from Andrea quite early, though.
The only sense of safeness, that was Clint, was in a whole different country. Andrea sighed heavily. She just wanted to be held tight in someone's arms in the same time she wanted to be left alone in her thoughts, alone and away from the dark world.
She would never admit to the first option, however. Andrea liked to keep her emotions and emotional needs to herself, these things not being something she was comfortable with outwardly sharing.
Having enough time to herself, Andrea walked to the doors, and opened one up to reveal a relieved looking T'Challa waiting behind it.
He smiled, "I was beginning to think you had found a way to escape for a moment."
Andrea laughed lightly, "That thought didn't even occur to me, trust me. That sight is too beautiful to leave," Andrea said referring to the city view of the office windows.
"That is only the tip of the ice burg, Andrea." T'Challa smirked, prideful of how extravagant his home country was.
"Is that so?" Andrea asked rhetorically to which T'Challa just nodded. "Hmm, I guess you owe me a tour some time then."
T'Challa looked over at the Barton girl as she was now out of the office and by his side. She was a few inches shorter than him, his six foot figure somewhat towering over her five foot, nine inches. "I could take you now if you would like. The sun should be setting here very shortly, and the sunsets are like nothing you haveever seen before."
Andrea smiled, liking the idea. "I would love to. First though," she started quickly remembering she need to thank Shuri, "I would like to find your sister to thank her."
"Yes, of course," T'Challa said and started walking intimating that he wanted Andrea to follows him. "That would be right this way."
As much as Andrea missed her brother and her things back at home, she concluded that she could get used to the place known as Wakanda.
