Chapter eighty
80
"Happy Birthday!" The group of guys chorused getting Aramade to smile really big. She moved close to them and collected the gifts they stretched at her. "Thank you so much guys. So sweet of you. I really appreciate and I'm sorry for the stress you all went through driving down here."
"Ikorodu is my base." Folu replied, trying not to make Ara feel she stressed them cause they actually drove down there willingly to celebrate with them.
"Actually, Ikorodu is my pop daddy." Toby scattered the whole thing causing everyone to laugh.
Prince Ire shook his head at him, feeling sorry for the grown man. "Since you didn't know what to say you should have stayed quiet Toby. We know you are happy to be here."
"Exactly! But Ikorodu is actually my pop daddy." Toby said again, laughing along with the rest of the people because he knew he was actually saying nonsense, but then, he wanted to bring smiles to all the faces in the room and he succeeded. He smiled at the birthday girl, eating out of Ara's cake, and slowly sipped it down with small quantity of fruit wine in the glass he was holding. "Twenty three actually looks good on you."
Aramade couldn't help the smile. "Thank you," she said really happy for the surprise she received. While going to the court with Prince Ire, she once mentioned her birthday was close but Prince Ire acted like it was nothing, and didn't really talk about how they were going to celebrate it. Sincerely, Ara wasn't mad at him. She understood he might not have paid so much attention because of the time they spent settling the case which was finally over. Mark's judgement was death by hanging for killing three different people and even accusing an innocent person as the murderer for many years. And not only that, but going about threatening to kill the person still.
Ara could tell Prince Ire was pleased by the judgement given to Mark. Everyone of his accomplice was thrown into the prison including Irene, but with all the plead and connection, the years given to her was lesser than the rest of the guys working with her brother. During the time of going in and out of the court, his friends had supported him. Folu, Toby including Ayoola came during the time. After many months of knowing Prince Ire, he finally saw him talked to Ayoola. She thought that day would never come, but not without them shouting and beating themselves up.
She expected their friends to help the situation but they turned their heads away from the scene and told Aramade those two had always been the closest and most times fought a lot. They told her to go wait inside the car because the two had serious matter to settle. Till the very moment, Prince Ire never told her what Ayoola did to him despite how she asked and persuaded him. He never for once spoiled him in her presence, and even times she heard Prince Ire cursed Ayoola under his breath, he never told her still. Those type of of friendships, one needed to be very careful, because no matter what, they respected each other still and the third party could be the one taking the whole blame. They were friends who kept their dirty secrets still. But that very day, Ara heard both Ayoola and Prince Ire revealed their dirty secrets before her.
"Are you crazy or something! You think I was gonna sleep with her? Is that why you've been avoiding me? I knew you like her. If I wanted to have had my way with her, I would have. No matter how strong they act, I still take them down. Why the fuck do I have to care when they give it back to me in return!"
The next thing Ara saw was Prince Ire's fist hitting Ayoola's mouth and the two latched at each other again, while Ara prayed they survived the beating they were giving each other.
"Fucking whore! That's what you are! Don't you ever talk about her that way ever in your life!" Ara turned her head upon hearing Prince Ire's voice. She prayed those two put an end to the fight and come together once and for all, but instead, it was Prince Ire's turn to say his own. "You take them down but they don't eventually stay with you. You know why? This fucking playboy, egoistic, rich mama boy attitude and fine boy foolishness is taking you no where. No where nigga! And yes, I fucking slept with your girl! You know why? She wanted a matured guy. Rich, handsome, cool and still fucking good in bed. But common, you and I know you were gonna discard her when her six months service was over. She just wanted to get back at you and that foolish girl drugged me."
"Save me the story drug addict!"
"Go for therapy sex addict!"
Ara heaved a sigh, unable to contain what she just heard. She never would have imagined those two would eventually come together after all they said to each other. If that were to be ladies latching at each other and saying such things to each other, the friendship would have suffered a tragic accident long time ago. But then, after all the things they said to each other, they apologised behind her back and were seen together laughing again. It really touched Ara down to her feet. He could tell the two liked each other, and also discovered from Folu and Toby that they've been trying their best for Ayoola to become responsible, but it had been in vain, so they didn't mind how the two fought each other.
Seeing them together at her mom's place really made Ara shook her head and smile at how those two were picking at each other. Now she understood why her parents decided to put their house warming on her birthday. It was Prince Ire's idea no doubt. Ever since he met with her parents, she had been suspecting the sudden closeness between the three. Their life had changed for good. She could remember telling him about the house her mom was building. The last time she checked, there were still some things that needed to be done to complete the house for them to move in. But then, Prince Ire had helped. Her mom had refused the money but insisted if he was willing to help, she gave him half of the things they still needed to buy. She remembered telling Prince Ire he knew her mom could afford a personal car for herself but chose to get a car and a new bike for her business alone. To her amazement, a day to the house warming, Prince Ire brought two car keys and gave her parents each. She couldn't believe the shock of her life.
It came unexpected. He never talked to her about it all. And that was the first time he was going to get something without involving her. They were preparing their travelling and he still remembered her parents. When she told him getting two cars at a time for his parents were too much, he had jokingly told her his parents didn't need such gifts anymore and he needed to sew a seed for their relationship to stay stamped. She couldn't help smiling. If she had thought she was funny, the way Prince Ire talked at times had brought smiles to her face many times.
Having everyone around to celebrate with them really made her happy. Her parents now had a house of their own. It was a dream come true after living as a tenant for twenty three years. While trying to serve the guys what they requested for, Ayoola came behind Aramade. "Please can you turn around? I don't want to get a punch for staying behind you. I need to use the restroom please."
Ara recognised the voice. She turned and laughed. "Enter the house and use the one after the first room."
"Okay." Ayoola chuckled and left. He went in and followed the description Ara gave him. He opened the door to the restroom and wasn't expecting to see anyone since everyone was outside, but instead, he saw a girl he had seen many times but never paid so much attention to. This time around, he took in her appearance. She had a small body, but was starting to have curves just like her sister. Not too dark and not as fair as her sister. He knew she was Aramade's sister but a lot different from her.
Omoh cleared her throat after noticing the gentleman was staring at her. "Anything on my face that you haven't seen on any woman's face before?"
Ayoola chuckled. "You are just a little girl."
"I'm sixteen."
Ayoola just laughed at her response.
"And you?" Omoh added when he wasn't responding.
Ayoola couldn't help it. Omoh was really cracking him up. "I'm twenty eight miss. I'm your uncle. And this make up is too much for a small girl like you."
Omoh turned her face around and laughed at how Ayoola responded too. "You sound like my Uncle at the village anyways. You should use one too. I think concealer will be nice on your lips for being a busy body Uncle." She showed him what concealer looked like.
Ayoola smiled. "That's a wrong way to use that."
"Wow!" Omoh chuckled, a bit surprised. "You actually know how girls use that."
"That's because you don't know how many girls I've seen used that."
Omoh turned to him again and raised a brow at him. Then slowly, she smiled. "My Uncle sounds like a playboy."
Ayoola just found himself laughing more and more. He concluded Omoh was nothing but a savage for her age. He licked his lips and smiled. "How old did you say you are please?"
Omoh was done with her make up. She looked up and and shook her head at Ayoola. "Unfortunately, I don't like bad boys cause I'm a good girl."
Ayoola couldn't help laughing. It seemed so long he laughed so freely. He was tired of meeting many girls who were always sweet to him. Omoh seemed different. He watched Omoh walked close to the door. Watched her smile at him and stood there listening to her. Omoh waved her yellow long nails at Ayoola. "I'm sure you didn't enter the wrong place. That's the toilet Uncle Ayoola. I'm off for some new pictures. Omoh eased the door open and locked it behind her. After all the drama, she finally got to speak to her crush.
