One Shot 16.2: Wrong Coffee?

Since this has been bugging me, okay, gonna write this. HAHAHAHA.

~~~~~
So why am I in this awkward situation? Lesley asked herself.
Okay, let us have a little recap.
Lesley called a number that was supposed to be the contact number for the glass contractor of Crescent Corporate Center, but she messed up with the last two digits of the contact number and ended up calling Gusion Paxley, the CEO of Paxley Conglomerate. The company where she was working was a subsidiary of the conglomerate.
Gusion invited her for a coffee- and she actually had no intentions to agree with his invitation because he was her big boss but she didn't have the time to escape since he was already waiting for her outside the building where she was working.
Lesley's heartbeat raced after their office hours. She didn't know why, but she was hoping that Gusion had already forgotten about his invitation for a coffee.
She actually didn't answer to his invitation earlier during the call. She was thankful actually when his secretary called him because he had a board meeting.
"Are you sure you wouldn't come with us? Your house is along our way." Irithel asked her.
"Iri, seriously? I don't want to be a third wheel." Lesley said while chuckling.
"Fine, Claude is still on the way. I'll wait until you get on a cab." Her friend said.
"You sound like a mother." She teased Irithel.
Irithel just rolled her eyes but she laughed right after. They were both laughing when they exit the building, only to be curious when they saw a lot of girls gathering and looked like they were swooning over someone.
Lesley's eyes widened as she saw the person whom girls were swooning over.
It was no other than, the CEO of Paxley Conglomerate itself— Gusion Paxley!
"Oh my gosh! Our big boss is here?" She heard Irithel said with her eyes also written with shock.
Lesley quickly grabbed Irithel's arm and started to drag her friend away from the gathering, "I changed my mind Iri, let me tag along with you."
She knew she shouldn't panic since it was too impossible that it was because of her that their big boss was here.
"Wait— huh? Okay, okay. But why are you dragging me?" Irithel asked with confusion.
"Let's just leave with peace, okay?" Lesley told Irithel as she continued to drag her.
She thought they could leave in peace but she hoped too much.
"Lesley Vance." She heard that husky voice once again.
Lesley closed her eyes so hard and stopped on her tracks.
Irithel looked at her with shock, "He knows you?" She asked her whispering, but with high pitch voiceif that could make any sense.
Lesley turned around slowly towards him with an awkward smile as she saw him walking towards her.
She bowed her head a little when he approached her, "Good day Mr. Paxley. How may I help you?"
"I believe I invited you for a coffee. Are you trying to escape?" Gusion said with a small smile in his lips.
Lesley gasped with the sight of that, as well as Irithel and the rest of the girls who were now watching them.
"Oh Mr. Paxley, she's not trying to escape. She's all yours now." Irithel said and she even pushed her towards Gusion!
She almost stumbled but thankfully, Gusion managed to hold her. Lesley almost flinched when she felt something odd— like electricity— when he held her arm.
She shot a glare at Irihel, trying to warn her friend.
"Thank you Ms. Cross. You can expect a salary increase this month." Gusion said with his famous cold look.
Irithel smiled brightly and her eyes even shone upon hearing the words 'salary increase'. "For real, Mr. Paxley? Alright, you can have my friend all you want. She has no boyfriend since birth and she's perfect in her own way. Just be careful dealing with her younger brother since he is over-protective." And right on cue, Claude's car arrived. "Claude's here. Enjoy your coffee date!" Irithel waved a goodbye to Lesley and hopped in to her boyfriend's car.
Lesley wanted to strangle Irithel to death at that moment, "I'm gonna kill you Iri!" She mumbled while gritting her teeth then huffed before looking at Gusion, "With all due respect Mr. Paxley, do you still wish to have a coffee with someone who wants to kill her friend in annoyance?"
Gusion's eyes danced with amusement while looking at her, "I don't mind though. I may even want to have coffee with you every morning— or anytime of the day."
And his rare smile appeared that really shocked Lesley.
She blushed, not only because of the smile but because of his statement.
She closed her eyes once again, stopping herself from thinking other things.
"Do you still wish to leave?" Gusion asked her.
Lesley sighed, "My friend just sold me. I don't have other choice."
Gusion gave her a lopsided grin before he guided her towards his car.
And now, here they were in this awkward situation— or Lesley felt like she was the only one who felt the awkward atmosphere.
Gusion brought her to a high class café in the city. She knew that the Paxley Conglomerate had also several branches of café in the country but it was surprising that they didn't go to one of its branches.
They were now sitting in front of one another in the table, silently sipping on their cups of coffee.
His phone was actually ringing continuously before he got annoyed and called his secretary, "I'm having an important meeting, tell them that don't disturb me. And so something with the reporters. They are annoying me."
That was all he said before he turned off his phone.
"Sorry for that. Some investors were just bugging me nonstop." Gusion explained.
"It's okay. You don't really have to explain. I mean, that's more important because you might lost some investors—"
"Nah, I don't need them anyway. They will just be parasites to the company." Gusion sipped on his coffee, "How's work? Is anyone giving you a hard time?"
She was quite shocked with the question. It was as if they already knew each other for a long time when in fact, it was only their first meeting!
Lesley shooked her head lightly, "Work is fine, though I have more workloads than the other Quantity Surveyors and the client I was handling was quite stressful— but yeah. Work is fine."
He frowned with her answer, "Do you only handle Starlight Convenience Store?"
"Yes, Mr. Paxley." She nodded, "I have five on-going constructions for them but I can manage."
"Isn't that hard?"
Lesley's lips quirked up, "Compare to running a conglomerate? My work is just an ant compare to yours, Mr. Paxley."
Gusion paused for a second to look at her before chuckling, "Smart-mouth. And stop calling me Mr. Paxley, Gusion will be fine."
"Okay, Sir Gusion."
"Drop the Sir." He ordered.
She shook her head, "Not gonna happen Sir. You're still my boss."
Gusion hummed and didn't answer. He was just looking at her while he sipped on his coffee.
That made Lesley conscious and avoided his gaze. She just decided to sip on her coffee when her phone rang.
She mumbled an excuse before getting her phone. Not minding her boss was just in front of her, she rolled her eyes upon seeing who was calling.
"Who was that?" Gusion asked.
"Engr. Granger of Starlight, Sir." She answered before she put her phone on silent, but still was contemplating whether to answer it or not.
She saw Gusion laid his hand to her, as if telling her to give him the phone.
Lesley was hesitant but she gave it nonetheless.
"Hello." Gusion answered with his business-tone voice. "It's already an hour after the office hours, why are you still calling? Don't make my employees work beyond their work hours, you are not the one who is paying them."
There was a slight pause before Gusion spoke again, "My company will do just fine without Starlight but I wonder if you will do fine if I tell Saber to fire you and I'm gonna tell my business partners not to accept you if you apply to them? You choose."
Lesley's eyes widened. Mr. Saber was the owner of the Starlight Convenience Store!
She saw Gusion smirked, "Good then. Don't disturb Lesley after her work hours." He said before ending the call and handed her phone back.
She was still looking at her and Gusion noticed it.
"What?" He asked.
Lesley sighed before holding her cup, "I just realized how powerful you are. Just one word and everything will go in anyway you want."
He gave her a smirk, "I wonder if my power can make you have another coffee with me tomorrow."
That made Lesley choked with the coffee.
Gusion chuckled, "What? What's wrong with that? I want to have coffee with you everyday."
That statement almost made Lesley fell on her seat. It was not just about that simple coffee, but for her it had a double meaning!
I hate you Layla! She shouted in her mind.
Layla was her friend and actually a psychologist. When they were still in college, she remembered Layla asked her to draw something on the paper which actually had a meaning.
But she would never forget when Layla asked her, "What's the first thing you thought about coffee?"
And Lesley, being a coffee lover, she answered, "Heaven because it calms me."
And it turned out that— that question about coffee was actually what you thought about sex.
Lesley couldn't forget how Layla laughed at her at that time. She had no boyfriend since birth, and imagine she answered like that on that question.
Noticing her blush, Gusion couldn't help it but to chuckle. He already had an idea why her reaction was like that.
"Say Lesley, do you have a friend who is a psychologist?" He asked.
Lesley's eyes widened, and from her reaction, Gusion already knew the answer.
He laughed with that. Actually, he said that without any other meaning but now he was thinking otherwise.
"Didn't know you were thinking about another type of coffee, Lesley." Gusion teased her.
With that, Lesley blushed even more. "Don't start. I can't just forget what was my answer to my friend when she asked me that question."
"Can I know your answer?"
She gasped, "Of course not! Never gonna happen."
"Are you sure?" Gusion smirked, "I'll know it sooner or later, Lesley. And I'll have that special kind of coffee with you once we tie the knot in the future."
Lesley felt her heartbeat stopped. And she didn't know that what Gusion said would make her more flustered than what she answered to Layla with that question!
~~~~~

A short one because some of you were asking for part two. HAHAHAHAHA.

Omg, I'm a coffee lover too. I mean my day wouldn't start without a coffee. So imagine my shock when I learned that coffee comparison to you-know in Psychology when I was in high school. Hahahaha.

And yeah, sorry for being inactive. Hahaha. We were working overtime for two weeks because we have an estimate (that's actually quite a big project if it will be awarded to us). Thank you for your understanding. <3
