GusLey Drabble: Marry Me
Lesley was lying on the bed for hours already while reading a book. She wanted to pause for a while but every end of the chapter was a cliffhanger— so she didn't have a choice but to go on reading.
She was using a page holder and cite boomarks from her boyfriend, Gusion. He spoiled her too much— he made her own bookshelves, gifted her different bookmarks, highlighters, tab sticky notes, tote bag, candles, and other paraphernalias of a bookworm, and books, of course.
But nothing was free in this world. She had to pay him of course.
Lesley lost her focus in what she was reading when she remembered how she was paying him.
Speaking of, her boyfriend entered the room and kissed her forehead while she was still reading.
"I'm going out for a while to buy some food. Is there anything you want me to buy for you?" Gusion asked her while hugging her and nuzzling her neck.
"Ice cream please." She answered and smiled, placing a kiss on his cheek. "And a new book!"
"Romance, fantasy, thriller, contemporary, spicy?" Gusion enumerated her favorite genres.
"Romance fantasy!"
"Young adult or new adult?"
"New adult." She answered and went back reading.
"Hard cover, paperback, mass market paperback, or special edition?" Gusion asked again.
That made Lesley gaped at him, dropping the book on the bed.
Goodness! He already even knows the difference of them!
"I'm waiting, my queen." Gusion said when she was still silent because of shock.
"Love." Lesley called him.
That made Gusion smiled so wide, "Yes, love?"
"Marry me." Lesley said and held his arms to shake him, "You have to marry me. Who taught you that?"
He chuckled and pinched her nose lightly, "You've been a book lover even way before we have a relationship and we are already together for two years. Of course, I learned the difference between them. And..."
"Hmm?" She hummed and looked at him.
"The payment is always worth it." He said in a low voice that sent shivers in her spine. He was even smirking!
Gusion picked up the book she was reading and at the same time, he pushed her gently to lay on the bed and he hovered her, their faces were few inches from each other.
"I feel that this is a spicy book. I think I want the payment first before I buy you a new book again." He said and licked his own lips, as if he was craving for something that only her could satisfy it. "Let's reenact those spicy scenes."
And yes people, that was how she was paying the books he bought for her.
And yes, Gusion went out to buy their food several hours later— for their late dinner to be exact— when he was supposed to buy their snacks earlier.
Oops.
