34| hit or miss
"Go home Kira." Rhys continues to flick through the chanels on his TV. I lean against the door frame of the living room, twirling my keys around my fingers.
"We arranged to train today so I'm here."
He rolls his head to the side, pointing the remote at my ankle. "You're meant to stay off of it for a week. That includes driving by the way."
"Who said I drove here myself?" I toss my keys to him, he catches it with ease and flips through them. "I had Jamie drop me off while she takes her cousins to the beach for the day. So I'm stuck here with you."
Twirling my keys around once he throws them back. I reach out to grab them and when I do I winch slightly at the movement. Rhys raises an eyebrow to me as if proving his point.
"You're still hurt so you have two options at the moment. Either we can watch TV here or go upstairs to watch a movie."
"I'd like to nominate a third option."
"We can make out if you like." He smirks and I fake a laugh in response.
"I want you to teach me how to fight," I move closer and nudge his knee with mine when he looks away. "Rhys, come on."
I nudge him again and he just brushes my leg away. My eyes flicker over his face before I reach out to slap him. His eyes widen as he looks at me with shock and I flash a grin. When I do it again he grabs my wrist and pulls me onto his lap.
"What do you think you're doing?" He looks amused and I go to hit him with my other hand only for the same thing to happen. "What are you going to do now?"
The glint in his eyes is playful, clearly his mood changing by my actions. I lean closer and leave a grazing kiss to his lips only for him to force me on my back against the lounge. He pins my hands above my head to decrease the space between us.
His body weight holds me down and I try to keep my chest frim rising and falling rapidly. The close proximity has my heart pounding and fingers itching to touch him. Rhys chuckles and pecks my lips gently.
"Can you let my wrists go?" I whisper and shift slightly.
"I'm not hurting you am I?" His tone changes and I shake my head. "I really hope you wouldn't kiss a guy into letting you go."
"Just you," He removes his grip and tries to lift himself up only for my arms to link around his neck. "I asked for freedom for a reason because I was considering doing option three for a bit. . ."
His eyebrows rise and I lean up to capture his lips. When the kiss heats up he reaches down to pull the back of my knees up. I wrap my legs around his waist and lean back down when he drops down to his forearms.
He pulls back, one of his hands moves to my cheek. "Are you sure that you want to-"
"Don't you?"
"Not if you're not comfortable going further," He pecks my lips and when I don't resist he moves them down my jawline, to my neck. "Make sure you wear a tee shirt tomorrow, not a tank top."
"Why do I-"
He pushes the sleeve and bra strap down before his teeth sink into my flesh. My back arches and one of my hands slip into his hair. I close my eyes, enjoying the feeling of small bites which are soothed by his tongue. He moves down an inch before repeating the process.
"That feels so good."
I reply while struggling for breathe, trying to stay calm when my heart feels like it's about to fail me. As his lips brush against the cup of my bra I arch up and tug at his hair. He moves back to my lips and bites down on my lip gently causing me to moan.
Rhys pulls back and I open my eyes to see him grinning. "You like being bitten."
"I think its you that likes to bite."
"Stalemate I guess."
He connects our lips again, this time his hand moves to my waist while he deepens the kiss further. It feels weird having his tongue in my mouth but it doesn't take long to adjust. My skin is burning while goosebumps appear as his fingers slip under my skirt to graze across my stomach.
I arch up and get a jolt when he drops his hips into mine. Raising my hips up in the slightest it feels just as good as when he was biting me. He breaks away this time and inhales through his nose when I feel something hard against me.
Oh my god.
"Is that your-" I pause feeling my cheeks flush with heat. "I didn't mean to turn you-"
"Kira please stop talking, babe." A low whine leaves his lips as he grinds harder into me. "You have no idea the power you have over me. . ."
I turn my head in the slightest as his eyes squeeze shut and he stops moving against me. Leaning closer I graze my lips against his neck, trailing down to the collar of his shirt. I pull it down in the slightest before sucking and his hips jut forward.
"It's good to know it's reciprocated." I whisper and continue to grind against him.
He lets out a breathy laugh. "Not that I want to stop this but I think we're rushing things, especially if we continue."
"Well we could stop and you can train me," I negotiate, watching him give me a look of disbelief. "Then I'll stop so you don't. . ."
Raising my hips his eyes squeeze shut and he tries to pull back more but I cling to him like a koala. "You do know that I could quite easily get you off of me, right?"
"Just teach me!"
"You're injuried!" He yells back and my face falls which makes him sigh. "As soon as your ankle starts to hurt you tell me and we stop. Deal?"
"I suppose so," I drop from him and fall back onto the lounge. He unwraps my legs from his body and makes a quick exit. "Where are you going?"
"Meet me in the backyard in five minutes. I need to cool off."
"Overshare Rhys!" Nate calls out as he enters the house, closing the front door before appearing in the door frame. "Um. You need to fix your top."
With flushed cheeks I quickly put my top on properly before standing up. "You have good timing."
"I know, right? I'd rather not walk in on you two making out or whatever the hell you were doing," He rattles a package in his hand before tossing it over to me. "This came for Rhys, give it to him for me. I just need to grab my charger and then head out again."
I catch it and feel the surprisingly light package despite it being the size of a tossue box. It was shockingly light. Nate disappears upstairs while I take my time heading out into the backyard. My ankle is still sore but not unbearable, especially with the guard I have on it.
Outside the yard is fenced in to block out the neighbors vision completely. One third of it is concrete with a shelter over the top and the rest is grass. Hanging at one end of the shelter is a boxing bag with a table and chairs at the other, a BBQ resting against the wall beside the door.
It's simple, just like the rest of the house.
The door opens behind me and I spin around. "Hey Nate said-" I take a few steps back with wide eyes. "Who the hell are you?"
"I thought Rhys would have better security for his home," He chuckles, taking the stairs slowly. "He's constantly with you and to think that I'm going to do this in his own house is hilarious."
"Rhys! Nate!" I scream, stepping back onto the grass area and looking around when I notice a shovel near the back of the fence.
The guy laughs and lunges for me, without hesitating I run for the shovel and ignore the pain shooting through my leg. I grab the shovel and tighten my grip before turning around, swinging as hard as I can.
It hits the guy and he falls to the grass with a groan just as Nate appears at the door. His eyes widen and I feel my hands shake while looking down at the guy on the grass. There's a cut on his right temple from the shovel with blood falling slowly.
"Kira come here," Nate calls and steps out onto the concrete. I side step around the guy with a firm grip on the shovel incase he tries again. "Wait, Rhys don't-"
I look away from the guy to see a furious Rhys stomping his way across the grass. He's body is still wet with only shorts hanging from his waist. He was literally in the shower. I intervene quickly, pressing against his chest when I see the murderous look.
"I'm fine. He didn't hurt me."
The guy choses now to laugh. "Damn. She's got you on a tight leash, how does it feel to be whipped?"
"You're a fool Xavier," Rhys snarls over my shoulder, looking at me. "Go inside with Nate while I deal with him."
"Please think about-"
"She hit him with a shovel," Nate stands beside his brother as if trying to prove a point. "I'm sure she wouldn't hesitate to swing if she needs to. Neither of us want you to get arrested."
"Give me the shovel," He takes it instead of waiting for me to hand it over and moves to Xavier. Rhys smacks him on the chest to get him to roll flat on his back. "I don't know whether you're completely stupid or asking for a death wish. May I remind you that we were once friends, therefore it's the only reason why I'm not bashing your skull in right now."
My eyes widen in horror at his words, slowly shifting back a step. "Please. You don't want to scare of your new play toy, unless she means more to you than that."
"She's aware of my past unlike - Marlie was it?" Xavier clenches his jaw and clearly Rhys hit a soft spot. "Unlike her she didn't run away. She won't and I made a promise to my girlfriend, I'll protect her from the people who created this monster in me."
"Just a suggestion Kira, I'd sleep with one eye open because everyone hates Rhys' guts and you're clearly his weakness," His head rolls back to look at me with a taunting smirk. "I'm sure they would love to break you and your innocence. I mean, your make out session looked pretty hot. . . I'd love to touch-"
Rhys swings without hesitation and Xaiver's head goes slack. His nostrils flare in anger before looking to me. I try not to withdrawal from his darkened gaze, knowing that I have no reason to fear him.
But seeing how quickly his temper flared and the strength of his hit did scare me a little. He wouldn't take that out on me, at least I don't think he would ever do that intentionally. It's still intimidating.
"Are you okay?" He steps over him, hand cupping my cheek while checking me for any possible injuries. "I'm so-"
"I hit him with a shovel," I whisper in shock, his lips twitch and I shake my head. "I actually hit someone with a shovel."
"It was a good hit too," Nate adds and Rhys glances to him. "I saw her swing as I got to the door. I can only run so fast you know."
"You didn't lock the door when you came in," Rhys steps away from me and towards his brother. "You always lock the door-"
"He was about to leave and honestly I prefer it was me that was almost attacked." Rhys' head snaps to me and I shrug slightly. "Glare all you want but I'll protect your brother before myself or are you forgetting a little incident two months ago, before I even knew him?"
"You can't-" He stops, biting on the back of his knuckles before taking a deep breathe and pointing back to the house. "Inside, now. Don't be afraid to swing if he tries to run."
Nate catches the shovel and Rhys pulls me along. I try to pry his hand from my arm knowing very well that the skin is turning red. My ankle tweaks at a particular hard tug and when I almost trip he finally stops, looking down at my ankle.
"You can't keep tossing me aside and treating me like a fragile doll," I whisper and frown at him when he tries to help me up the stairs. "I don't want to be seen as weak."
Rhys choses to ignore me and instead walks into the house, leaving me in the door frame. I follow him into the kitchen as he picks up the homeline and puts in a number. Leaning on the door frame I wait to hear him speak to the person on the other end.
"You need to get your father over to mine as soon as possible. Someone broke in and attacked Kira," I raise an eyebrow and he glances at me. "She's fine. She hit the guy with a shovel once and I did as well so he's unconscious."
"Who is that?"
Rhys ignores me and I inhale through my nose. "See you soon," He hangs up and leans on the opposite side of the counter. "Lachlan's father has connections of the illegal variety. He's going to deal with him and make sure he doesn't talk."
"Illegal?"
"Not my place to say," I try to speak but he continues. "Lachlan isn't as innocent as you think or as he appears. Behind his charisma you'd probably be petrified of what he can be."
I nod slowly. "Well I've been almost had my windpipe crushed by him so-"
"Wait. What?" His eyes widen and I shake my head.
"I sneaked up on him and it didn't leave any damage-"
"I don't care. He isn't meant to touch you."
"He's your best friend," I state, watching Rhys morph into someone I've never seen before. He isn't calm and collected, he looks nervous. "What's going on in your head? I can see something written all over your face."
Rhys slouches on the counter shaking his head. I move around and rub his back supportively even though I don't know why he's like this. "I want to keep you out of this desperately. You shouldn't have to learn to fight or be scared. I'm meant to protect you from harm."
"Except I want to protect you," He looks up, giving a look of disbelief until I continue. "Maybe not physically but emotionally. You act tough, untouchable all the time and it annoys me sometimes. I just want to be there for you so you don't have to have a guard up all the time."
He pulls me into his chest and I secure my arms around his waist. Something about me wants to make sure he doesn't hurt himself especially when he tries to protect me. I don't want him to get hurt for my safety because I'm certain it would hurt more.
"We'll protect each other, okay?"
"You're still teaching me how to fight."
Double update this week to make up for my slackness on this story, I've been busy plotting other stories. Speaking of which *drum roll* I'm officially writing a sequel for this and possibly (don't get your hopes too high a spin off the sequel).
Question: who would you chose for a spin off?
*just curious*
Thoughts? Feelings? Predictions?
