Chapter fourteen: confession, kind of
Mina
It was Monday, and we were back at school. Since Taehyung was still living with us, we had to walk to school together. We teased each other here and there, accidentally'bumping into each other, pushing, etc. It was a good feeling that we could finally be friends. Real friends. Best friends, again.
We had made it alive to school. We giggled at each other's behaviours, and suddenly we heard someone behind us.
"Mina?" I glanced over my shoulder, still a grin on my face, and spotted Shin. He was staring at me shocked and my smile faded away.
"Shin," was all I managed to say. I had kind of forgotten all about him, since I was pretty busy and my mind was all filled up with Taehyung, after what I had found out, and discovered.
"What are you doing?" he asked and I saw in the corner of my eye that Taehyung was staring at Shin with a judgmental look.
"Uhm, there's something I haven't told you. Something I recently found out to be honest, but since we're friends I'll tell you. Actually, we already knew each other; I just didn't recognise him-" Before I even got the chance to say anything more, he interrupted me.
"Friends? Do you even know what that word means? Friends are someone who protects you, stands up for you, listens to you, laugh with you, joke around with you, being sad with you. Could you possibly call him your friend?"
"Yes. I'd do anything for her," Taehyung suddenly said whilst glaring hard at him.
"Yeah, I've seen that. I've seen how you treated her at school. Is that your friendship? Pretending like nothing in front of people? That's not called real friendship".
"There's more to it than that. You just don't know the whole stor-"
"I've warned you so many times Mina! I told you not to be with them! I told you!" he had finally snapped.
"You told me? You don't make decisions for me Shin. Don't even dare try and pretend like you know everything about me, or him," I yelled back and he stared at me speechless, "you told me once you warned me because you cared. Don't care anymore. You're only wasting your time." I turned my back on him and dragged Taehyung along with me, and entered the school. How could I be so blind about him? He just wanted to control me, not being my friend. What was he, my mom? I already had one, and I didn't need another one.
"Wow, you can be pretty scary at times," Taehyung commented whilst I was still dragging him without realising it myself. I chuckled embarrassed and let him go.
"I'm sorry about him. He thinks he's the most important in my life. He probably thinks I need to be protected," I said and Taehyung stared at me.
"You do, but not by him." He was staring me straight in the eyes, leaning on his left hand that rested on the wall right beside my head, and was real up close to me. I felt my whole face burning up, feeling more embarrassed the more I looked at him.
"I-I can take care of myself," I stuttered, trying to hide my embarrassment.
"Why are you stuttering?" he asked whilst leaning even more close. "You're nervous?" I couldn't help but to gulp. It was barely that our noses didn't touch, and he was definitely doing it on purpose.
"N-No," I lied, and he smirked.
"Then why do you stutter? Your face," he stared and studied my face, then back to my eyes; he switched his glanced between my eyes and lips, "you're blushing". He smirked more and I gulped again. I could even feel some sweat running down my forehead. My stomach, chest and head were overheating, and I was surprised he hadn't reacted at my loud heartbeat, even at the close rage he was in.
"I'm judging by the aura and situation around you, that you're close again," I heard someone say a bit further away. Both of us looked to the side and saw the BTS members staring at us. Jin stood in front, smirking at us, and Taehyung quickly pulled away, all red all over his face. I giggled over his embarrassment. "So, you finally told her everything?" Taehyung nodded and they all got closer. Jimin's sudden touch surprised me by throwing his arm around my shoulder whilst grinning.
"I was hoping we'd like you," he joked and pinched my cheek, "you're cute."
"Jimin. Just because we're friends, I won't let you get away with it," Taehyung warned and I giggled at both of them, throwing my hand around Jimin as well.
"And I'm glad I like you too," I joked back, causing Jimin to go red. I giggled at his cuteness.
"If you ever wonder something about romance and love, don't hesitate to ask me, alright?" I stared at him.
"Really? You're an expert on romance and love?"
"More like expert on being dumped because he got caught being with a lot of girls," Rap Monster said as he also suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
"Be careful. If you stand next to him for too long, you'll get pregnant," Jungkook also joked and I laughed, pulling Jimin's arm off me and got over beside Taehyung. I'm glad that we could be around each other with BTS, but I'm still not in that phase where I'm comfortable with them yet alone.
"They're just joking, don't worry. Jimin is the most faithful person I've ever seen when it comes to girls. He's the perfect man," he said, but quickly added, "but not for you." He went back to Jimin and threw his arm around his tiny friend, "he's also a good friend, but easy to joke around with and tease". I smiled.
For the first time I saw their real friendship.
"I'm Namjoon by the way. Forgot to introduce myself," Rap Monster said after he was done teasing Jimin.
"Hi," I said whilst smiling, sincerely glad they respected me to be friends with Taehyung.
"And I'm Jungkook".
"You remember me, right?" Jin asked.
"Yeah, Jin," I grinned and he smiled proudly.
"But real name Seokjin".
"You know my name?" J-Hope excitely asked and I hesitated slightly.
"Not your real name," I answered, feeling a bit sorry. He overdramatically pretended like being shot and stared at Taehyung.
"You didn't mention me?" he faked cried and clung on to him. "Why Taehyung? Why," he faked whined.
"He's Hoseok," Taehyung managed to say in between Hoseok's cries. I giggled at their silliness and glanced at the last guy.
"Yoongi." I smiled at him, but he only stared back. When I thought about it, he always was either ignoring or glaring at me. I never felt comfortable around him. I thought that he still hated me.
"What's with the cold introduction?" Seokjin joked and nudged him playfully. He didn't seem to be in a playful mood and ignored both his friend and me. I stared at him curiously and glanced at the taller one.
"He doesn't like me, does he?" I asked.
"Well," he hesitantly sighed and looked firstly at Yoongi and then back at me, "it's complicated. Just give him some time and don't rush it. He just needs to get used to it."
"Used to my and Taehyung's friendship?" I asked confused and he sighed again.
"More like you. He doesn't like new people. And he has his doubts."
"Doubts? About me?"
"Yeah". I felt sad. Sad that he doubted me. I hadn't really done anything wrong, but I wouldn't force him to like me. It's not like everyone could like me. Actually, it's only them. But I still wondered what he doubted about me. Did he think my friendship with Taehyung wasn't real? That I used him? That I would hurt him? I really wanted to clear things up with him that I would never do that, but it would seem stupid, since I wasn't even sure that was why he has his doubts.
"Mina!" I heard Taehyung call as I noticed they had started walking, "don't want to be late for class, do you?" I shook my head, smiled, and ran after them. As Taehyung, Seokjin, Jungkook and I walked into our classroom, many people were staring. As I glanced towards my seat, Shin was already sitting there, avoiding meeting both my and the group's eyes. "Don't be afraid to tell me if he bothers you," Taehyung whispered to me before we got to our seats, obviously talking about Shin. I nodded, giving him a warm smile, and sat down beside Shin.
"You hang around with them now?" Shin asked when it was a long awkward silence and the teacher hadn't come in yet. I nodded, trying to avoid meeting his gaze, and rested my head on my arm. "Why?"
"I said already that you don't know the whole story. It's complicated," I muttered and I heard him sigh.
"You can tell me. We're friends, aren't we? If they are controlling you, threatening you or anything like that, you can tell me. I'll protect you no matter what." I felt a vein on my forehead out of annoyance and glared at him.
"Yah! Since when did friends doubt each other, huh? I'm telling you the truth, that Taehyung and I really are friends. If you don't believe it or accept our friendship, then ours are over," I threatened and he flinched. He just sat there, staring at me with his jaw hanging open.
"You better be careful to call him by his real name. He hates that," Shin whispered, shifting his glances between me, and Taehyung at the back.
"You better be careful before I smack you." I threatened by almost smacking him on the head, he flinched again, covering himself, and I turned around on the chair to turn my back on him. He was even more annoying than before. Before I found out about Taehyung, I really considered Shin as a friend, because he was really nice towards me, but his hate towards the group was really annoying me, and that he always used my 'protection' as an excuse to everything.
"You know, school really annoys me. There's nothing interesting happening here, no rumours, no relationships, or anything," Jimin complained and Seokjin stared at him surprised.
"What? Of course there's a couple here," he said and smirked towards Taehyung, "you confessed, didn't you?" He was glancing at Taehyung, who had his eyes wide and stared back at him, but his face was red all over.
Confessed?
