Chapter 33
"Why are you wearing a Victorian coat?"
"You too wear it." Chris' words were a statement, yet he looked confused while he spoke. "You are wearing one now." To make his point, he jabbed his index finger in the direction of Dima's Victorian coat.
The vampire was not planning to tell him that he had grabbed and worn it in a hurry, thinking what if there was someone from high class at the door.
"Yes, but I don't look like a butler" was Dima's response as he chuckled at the end of the sentence. About the wolf's second statement, the vampire wide opened the door from its half-open state and shrugged out of his coat.
It was Chris' turn to laugh.
"I look like a butler and you don't look ridiculous wearing a t-shirt and short shorts beneath your coat?"
"Did you come here all the way to show me and talk to me about this coat? I guess not. So, start speaking. Wait! Why are you standing here in the open at my house, are you stupid? If the security sees you, you are dead. And..."
Dima's rambling was put to an end by Chris putting his finger on the young vampire's mouth in a shush gesture. And the sparks that flew were the greatest thing that had ever happened to Chris. Dima didn't feel any different as he shared the same emotion of delight his werewolf mate did. One mere touch of a finger and they felt this, they shuddered thinking of what will happen when they...
Clearing the fog of desire with much difficulty, Chris spoke.
"I'll ebb away your worst worry first; I called your parents and asked them whether a wolf from my territory could come here and ask a few questions. They said they wouldn't be here but you will be up to tackle any of our concerns. Obviously, it was a fib about the questions because I wanted to see you and talk to you, maybe sneak in a few kisses. Knowing that I am going to get you all by myself, I thought - 'Oh, why not make it a date?!' and here I am. So, would you like to go on a date with me?"
Dima's stone heart and hard exterior both did melt a little by the end of the young Alpha's little speech. Since he would never admit it, he pushed Chris' finger away and voiced his stubborn vampire mind opinion instead. "We went on a date just two weeks ago. It's too early."
"Early, you say? When we mate, we'd go on a date every week."
"That is the sweetest shit anybody has ever said to me."
"It's a yes then?"
"Sweetest, but still shit."
"Definitely a yes."
Dima couldn't see Chris backing down soon or ever, so with great disinclination he sighed and gave a nod. "Let me go and change," he declared but stopped before saying "Uh-huh." Holding a hand up, he indicated Chris to stay put and not to follow him. "You aren't stepping a foot inside."
Chris pouted to Dima's disport and asked "Not even in the living room?" without losing the pout.
"Nope."
"The foyer?"
"Nope."
"But I want to change too, I can't go in this; you didn't like it." Dima was sure that one day he will slip on all the cheesy shit that Chris says and will fall right in his arms. One day.
Dima gave Chris a once over. "I'll bring a T-shirt of mine, these pants will do."
"By the end of our date, I'll have an orgasm if I wear his clothes and be surrounded by his scent all this time." Although Chris mumbled the words under his breath, Dima heard him nonetheless. The Alpha got the door shut in his face as a result. Dima heard him shouting from the other side of the door. "You'd be cuddling a sweaty pig all night if I don't get out of this ridiculous overbearing coat."
Snickering at the five-year-old Dima left outside to wait, he went to change. When he came back, he brought a T-shirt with him out of the goodness of his heart. The T-shirt was new.
Inside the car, he put on the seatbelt because it was Chris driving and Dima didn't wish to die. Remembering his last drive with Chris, he insisted the werewolf wear his seatbelt as well; he didn't want the werewolf to die either because he did care even if he didn't want to.
Instead of starting the car as Dima thought Chris would do, he pulled out a map making the vampire question his actions.
"Don't tell me you didn't decide the place."
"I didn't." Dima had started to question Chris' sanity. What kind of Goddess do the werewolves have for her to see him and the crazy Alpha as a perfect fit and pair them together? He facepalmed, thinking about what the future holds but perked up right back when Chris spoke further. "...but I decided what we are going to do."
Dima helplessly recollected the events of their last date, it was gratifying. He was being dramatic with 'what the future holds,' wasn't he? So based on the first date, he was going with the idea that Chris is very creative and intellectual and worth all his insanity.
"What do you mean?"
"The map in my hand is of our town Pentagon and the towns surrounding it. I planned what we will do in every town. All of them are different activities. You just have to close your eyes and put a finger on the map anywhere. The town where your finger lands on, we will have our date there and do the activities I planned for that town," Chris explained with bright eyes.
Dima merely looked at him dumbfounded while he rambled on a little more and patted his own back. The vampire just kept looking at him in awe.
At that moment, Dima saw Chris in a new light. He decided that Chris is an 'I will go to any length if I care for you' kind of person. He will put his all in the work he is doing. He will invest his all in a person.
And at the end of the night, Dima would know that Chris will invest his all in him, for him.
