Prologue
My head.
The first thing the students could even think about was the intense aching in their heads.
It was unbearable; the pounding didn't seem to cease, even as the students all rubbed at their heads or tried to wait it out. Eventually, everyone grew curious; just where were they? Unable to resist the tempting white note lying on a nearby mahogany desk, everyone eventually stumbled over to the letter in the middle of their own cheery colored classroom.
Dear beloved student,
Congratulations on making it into Hope's Peak Academy! Please proceed to the gym for the official orientation.
Official orientation? No one could resist that. Even after examining their confusing environment, down to the heavy looking metal plates and steel cameras, the students couldn't resist their curiosity. So, everyone headed to the gym, blissfully unaware of the despair that was to come...
"Where...are we?" A short boy with a brown spike in his hair asked, a tired look in his gray eyes. He had a plain black blazer on over a gray sweatshirt, creating the image of someone who looked both formal and casual at the same time. Makoto Naegi, Ultimate Hope. "I just woke up in a classroom, and a note told me to come here..."
"It seems we all got the same thing, then," Someone mused as he brought his tan hand up to his chin in thought. His hazel eyes were narrowed as he pondered their situation, the spike in his hair contorted into the shape of a question mark. Hajime Hinata, Reserve Course Student. "This doesn't look like an orientation, though. Where are the teachers?"
"I don't think the teachers should be our main concern right now," An inky cap concealed most of the pale boy's face, who further hid himself by grasping the top of his hat with his hand as his hazel eyes darted back and forth. Shuichi Saihara, Ultimate Detective. "We should be more worried about the metal plates and cameras everywhere..."
"What metal plates?" A girl with long, platinum blonde hair half tied into pigtails had a cheerful smile on her face as she shrugged, having no idea what they were discussing. A pair of golden pointe shoes were on her feet. Somehow, her wide smile was enough to ease some of the tension in the room. Lyra Ng-Nikos, Ultimate Ballerina. "I didn't see any. Not that I was really looking, but..."
"You've got to be kidding me. The metal plates over the windows were quite obvious," A tall, lanky male with silvery glasses and icy eyes sneered, his posture screaming for respect. Byakuya Togami, Ultimate Affluent Prodigy. "You must be blind. Or stupid. Or both."
"We all just met! We do not need to fight so soon," Another blonde girl placed her hand out, her regal presence demanding obedience...even though she was completely unaware of that fact. Sonia Nevermind, Ultimate Princess. "We should be more focused on what is going on around here."
"Ah...Yeah, she's right! We should listen to her!" The shark like smile of the next boy's speech unnerved a couple of the people there. Kazuichi Soda, Ultimate Mechanic. "When is this thing supposed to start anyway?"
"W-Well, i-if orientation is a-about to start, w-why don't we just w-wait for that?" A young girl stammered as she fiddled with her brunette braids, fearful eyes hidden behind round glasses. Toko Fukawa, Ultimate Writing Prodigy.
"'Cuz no one seems to be around, and I'd like to know what the fuck is going on around here!" A short boy with studded blonde hair, rosy cheeks, and a black eyepatch over one eye seemed to be the most impatient there. His fist was clenched tightly, his anger contrasting his babyish features. Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, Ultimate Yakuza. "I've got the worst headache, and now I have to deal with all this fuckin' nonsense-"
"You guys too?" A red haired girl with a black witch hat a disinterested look on her face just sighed. Himiko Yumeno, Ultimate Magician. "I thought that was just because of my magic..."
"I highly doubt it is magic for a number of reasons, mainly, common sense," A darker skinned female crossed her arms, her amber eyes narrowed in distaste. Her violet bangs framed her face, while the rest of her hair was in an elegant bun. Janelle Torres, Ultimate Archer. "It is highly improbable for all of us to have naturally have the same headache. Something must have occurred to us. Do any of us remember?"
"Hm...Nope! The note said we're at Hope's Peak, but that's all I got," The tanned finger of a brunette girl was stuck in her ear absentmindedly, her wildly untamed hair only accentuating her strange actions. Akane Owari, Ultimate Gymnast. "I thought there'd be a lot more students, though."
"Yeah, for serious!" A man with brown hair sticking up in untamed dreadlocks had a relaxed look on his face. Yasuhiro Hagakure, Ultimate Clairvoyant. "Where is everyone?"
"I-I-I'd prefer...t-that n-no one else came," The petite figure of a girl with skin as pale as snow and a green hood pulled over her head mumbled. Her posture was slumped and hidden amongst the other figures. Nico Legaspi, Ultimate ???.
"What? But-don't you want to meet everyone else?" Another tanned skin girl with brown hair tied into a ponytail was appalled by Nico's opinion. Aoi Asahina, Ultimate Swimmer.
"...Why do you have to assume that's what we all want?" A pale girl with red irises and an irritated on her face asked, her tone neutral and annoyed. Maki Harukawa, Ultimate Assassin. "Not all of us want that nonsense."
"B-But why wouldn't you!? I mean, people are amazing, and more people equals more friends!" A girl with long blue hair tied into a high ponytail interjected, her stormy eyes filled with excitement. Tanya Jenks, Ultimate Rock Climber. "Come on, you two! This is exciting!"
"...No. There's nothing exciting about this at all," Just the sound of her smooth voice was enough to silence the others. Kyoko Kirigiri, Ultimate Detective. Her lavender eyes were narrowed in concentration. "Something is...off."
"Off?"
As if on cue, someone suddenly began to speak over the loudspeaker. The sound of the cheery, high pitched voice sounded...off. It was enough to send a silent shudder through everyone in the room...
"Ahem, ahem...well, then. Welcome...to your first official day at Hope's Peak Academy!!"
Thus, the nightmare began...
