Prologue pt6: This is the part...WHERE WE RUN!
We all took a step back as the top of the fountain began to shake.
Something or someone was in there but who? Who else is missing?
At long last...something green popped out of the top.
A green, mechanical bird with a red lightning bolt on its face, a small yellow beak and one side, a maniacal grin.
Everyone was silent when the bird appeared. Even Cartman didn't make a remark at first.
"Cheehoo! Finally out of that fountain? Do you know how long I had to perch there, listening to the insufferable voices of you meatbags plus some not meatbag?" The bird asked.
"What are you?" Tamaki was the first to speak up.
"Me? I'm just a robot but much more advanced than the ice cream scooper here," the bird explained, motioning to Circus Baby.
"Friend of yours?" Ally asked, turning to her.
"Not that I know of," Circus Baby replied.
"So why are we here?" Eddie asked, getting to the point immediately.
"Here? In this mall? Oh my, excuse my manners. First I need to introduce myself before I explain why you're all here," the bird said.
"We don't need your f*cking name! Tell us why we're here?" Cartman snapped.
"Be quiet, brat! So glad that I didn't place the ahoge on you," the bird sighed.
"What?" Deets asked.
"Nothing! Now where was I? Ah yes, my name. I am MonoHum, your...manager I guess," the bird said.
"MonoHum?" Arataka asked.
"Yeah, like a hummingbird but much better than one," MonoHum replied.
"What do you mean by manager?" Karin asked.
"Yes, the one whose name sounds similar to Karen would ask that. Let's just say that welcome to your new jobs at Entertainment Mall where you'll be working here forever! Hey, at least the pay will be good," MonoHum explained.
"What? Work? B-but I'm too busy to work at a job like this. I'm a star," Tsukasa said.
"Yeah, I already have a job. No need for another one," Eddie said, rather stiffly.
"Well too bad because you're not leaving here but don't worry. We have all the things you need like we even take care of your dental work! Everyone always overlooks that," MonoHum assured us.
"I feel like that you can't do that for some of us. There's laws against child labor," Ally pointed out.
"And I forgot to mention, the law can't touch us here. The police can't enter here and 'save' you," MonoHum explained.
"WHAT?! So we're really trapped here?!" Tamaki cried.
"Look, I know some real tough Texas Rangers so you better let us out of here before they come storming here," Deets said.
"Police, Texas Rangers, who cares? Whoever the law is, no one can enter here," MonoHum said.
"I have seen some f*cked up sh*t. I have even done f*cked up sh*t but this is too far. Let us out," Charlie stated.
"No can do...although there is a way out for you if you decide to take it," MonoHum said.
"Wait really?" Sparks asked.
"Why yes. How could I forget? It's your only way out if you wish to use it," MonoHum explained.
"Tell us! We'll do anything," Tenma said.
"You kill someone," MonoHum said.
"..."
"WHAT?!" Almost everyone cried out.
"K-kill someone?! No way!" Ally gasped.
"Too far, lad! Too far!" Joel shouted.
"I dunno, seems fair to me. Kenny dies all the time,"Cartman shrugged.
"Cartman, just shut up," I shook my head.
"Well unlike Kenny, there's no way to revive the dead. They stay dead if they get killed by one of you," MonoHum explained.
"I take that back then," Cartman said.
Even he seems to have some sort of standards...although I don't like the implications that he said about that high schooler that he mentioned when I asked Tamaki if he was a high school student, I thought, worriedly.
"Ok wh-who's pulling a prank here?" Sparks asked, pale and shaking.
"There's no prank. This is real," MonoHum replied.
"Geez, all of you are cowards," Twyla said, pushing up her glasses.
"Well who wouldn't be afraid of being killed by someone here? Considering that there's only 16 of us!" Arataka pointed out.
"He's got a point. Someone had to be real sneaky about it," Karin added on.
"You're taking this too lightly," Huxley sighed.
"So are you!" Tenma snapped.
"Are you sure that's the only way out?" Tabby asked.
"If it wasn't then he wouldn't have said anything about killing someone," Circus Baby replied.
"Agreed. Now, if you check your phones, you'll see that you have received a notification for some rules. Go and read them," MonoHum said.
We all looked at our phones and saw the notification.
I looked through the rules, only some of them were unlocked though.
Weird, I thought.
Rule #1: Workers may reside only within the mall. Leaving the mall is an unacceptable use of time.
Rule #2: "Nighttime" is from 10 pm to 7 am. Some areas are off-limits at night, so please exercise caution.
Rule #3: Sleeping anywhere other than the dormitory or break room will be seen as sleeping on the job and punished accordingly.
Rule #4: With minimal restrictions, you are free to explore Entertainment Mall at your discretion.
Rule #5: Violence against manager MonoHum is strictly prohibited.
Rule #6: Anyone who kills a fellow co-worker and becomes "blackened" will leave, unless they are discovered.
Rule #7: Additional mall regulations may be added if necessary.
"Discovered? What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"Oh no need to worry about that for now. We'll get there when we get there," MonoHum explained.
When we get there...his words echoed through my head.
What does he mean? What does this all mean?!
To kill or be killed! Just thinking about it makes me feel sick!
I don't want to die and neither does anyone here, I think.
And the fact that there are rules here...it almost seems like it's a game.
A Killing Game...
I hope I can make it out alive.
Remaining Workers:
16/16
A/N: Yeah decided to mix things up for a bit so instead of them being students, they're workers at this mall.
