Kaito had a rivalry with Kokichi for months after they first met.

The only way that they settled their differences and became friends was when they got trapped in the bathroom and Kokichi had a panic attack.

Kaito, being the nice guy he is, helped him through it and they became friends.

Kokichi does tease him a lot and Kaito does get pissed at this but they laugh it off later.

(No I do not ship them romantically. I see them as friends.)
