Chapter 5 Daily Life part 4
Ding Dong!
"Wake up! It's now 7am so get up and have some niiiice breakfast!" Monokuma cheered from the speakers.
I again, flipped off the air. I didn't want to get up but I had a feeling I would be missing out if I didn't get up.
Also I would be worrying some others if I stayed in my dorm the whole day. Thinking that I died or something.
Well I reckon I should start the day.
I changed into my clothes and left my dorm.
Some people were already at the dining table, eating breakfast.
"Hi Tommy," Mukuro waved and I waved back.
It was doughnuts. Doughnuts were our breakfast.
"Yum...," I murmured and took one.
It was another quiet breakfast. I don't know how many times I have mentioned that I hated it.
Really hated the silence.
I heard someone get up and walked away. I looked up to see Ed leaving.
Some didn't noticed but I was curious.
Where was he going?
I got up and began to follow him. Ed was heading towards the library which I guess makes sense for him.
Now that I think about it, Ed usually heads towards the library. Or at least I find him there a lot. Even when we don't hang out.
"Hey Ed...what are you doing?" I asked, walking up to him.
"Looking for code and clues," Ed replied.
"Not the answer I was expecting but ok. Wait, what kind of code?" I asked.
"Morse code, binary, you name it! I wonder if there's any?" Ed said.
"I mean probably. What makes you think that it's in the library?" I asked.
"There's a f*ck ton of books here. There's bound to be something suspicious," Ed replied.
"You really think there's something suspicious behind this COLLIDE book? ...," I looked at it. It had an interesting cover with a man with blue hair and black eyes.
"That and this 69 book," Ed pointed.
"Pffft 69," I wheezed.
Ed rolled his eyes.
"Just read through them," he insisted.
I read through a couple of pages and oh my god this is f*cking familiar about it.
I grabbed the 69 book and gasped.
"Now you see?" Ed rose an eyebrow.
"Holy sh*t, this is almost like our situation!" I exclaimed.
"Yes and I was hoping to see if there's any code on it but none! I analyzed them both and I even found this book called Junko's Multiverse Revenge and the only thing that I found interesting other than the plot was the name Junko. She was a mastermind to the game similar to this," Ed explained.
"Was?"
"Yeah she's dead apparently. I wanted more research on other games like this but that's all I found. Some pages are missing in both COLLIDE, 69 and Multiverse revenge so that's a dead end," Ed sighed.
"Hmmm...how many books have you analyzed?" I asked.
"Too much and not enough information," Ed sighed.
I felt bad for the guy. He wants to get out of here as much as we all do and he's trying to gather as much information as he can so he can find a way out.
"..."
"What if you had a book that wasn't in the library to begin with?" I asked.
"Huh?"
"I mean, it's probably just a long shot but it wouldn't hurt to try to gain some clues from it. It's a possibility, an unlikely one but it's something," I suggested.
"True but where can I possibly find a book that wasn't in the library?" I asked.
"Well...I got one," I replied.
"You what?!" Ed asked.
"Yeah remember the uhh...motive from last time? I was given a book called How to Sex. Although unlikely, there could be something in there," I explained.
"Is it a usual text book or a handwritten notebook?" Ed asked.
"I think handwritten. Dunno since I haven't looked at it. I'll bring it to you!" I exclaimed.
"Go."
I ran out of the library, into my dorm where I placed the book, found it and ran out.
"Here I got it!" I placed it down on the table.
Ed studied the cover and ran his finger across the scratched out name.
"And you don't know who wrote it?" He asked and I shook my head.
Ed opened it and looked through the book.
He then looked at me.
"Why was this your motive?" He asked.
"Something about it triggered a memory. It was faint but it was something alright. The thing is that I don't remember what though!" I explained.
Ed placed a finger in his chin.
"I think the whole talks about...you know what...could have something else meaning to it especially since this is handwritten," Ed explained.
"Like what?"
"I'm working on that," Ed waved me off.
"That's f*cking impressive Ed! You seem to be more knowledgeable about our situation than any of us combined!" I exclaimed.
"Hmmm...maybe," Ed said.
"I'm telling the truth! Look, if I decide to pull a random book here and try to decipher it," I said and grabbed a random book.
"No matter how smart I may sound, I might never figure it out! And believe me, I'm plenty smart," I explained.
"Ha...but I wouldn't consider myself that knowledgeable," Ed sighed.
"Why is that?" I asked.
"It's my fault that Mami did what she did. It's all my fault," he explained sadly.
"Bullsh*t Ed! It's no one's fault but Monokuma's. Not yours and not Mami's. In fact, if you still feel guilty about what happened, look on the bright side. You're doing something that can help everyone out! Mami would be proud of you!" I exclaimed.
Ed turned to look at me with a risen eyebrow.
"You really think that?" He asked and I nodded.
"Of course! Why would I lie?" I asked.
Ed stopped to think about it but when he opened his mouth to answer me, he got interrupted by the bell.
Bing Bong!
"Everyone head to the gym for your motive! Be there or be square! Upupupu~!" Monokuma cheered from the speakers.
"F*ck," I muttered.
"I guess we have to go to the gym now," Ed sighed.
I nodded at this and we left.
"Oh hey you two," Mukuro waved as Ed and I arrived at the gym.
"Hey," I waved back.
"What do you think the motive will be this time?" Leafpool asked.
"Who knows but I don't think it'll be any good," Ed replied while folding his arms.
Monokuma popped up.
"Hello hello students! Guess what time it is!" He chirped up.
"Just give us the f*cking motive and be done with it already!" Susie snapped.
"Geez so rude," Monokuma huffed.
He then turned around and pulled out a box.
"Here's your motive!" Monokuma passed out blue tablets to each of us.
This felt oddly familiar...
"You're not going to pull a repeat on the first motive, are you?" Leafpool asked.
"First motive?" Isabelle asked.
Hibiki turned to explain to her the horrors that we saw with the first motive.
Our friends...
Our families...
"Oh no! Th-that sounds really bad!" Isabelle trembled.
"It was," Hibiki sighed.
"First of all, nope! And second of all, go check out your motives!" Monokuma ordered.
I looked at mine and turned the tablet on.
It was...weird...I think.
There was a very light blonde girl with a bow and she had her back turned to the camera.
The sky was empty and blue with a single solid cloud shape and the rest are wispy.
I could hear someone breathing slight behind a bush.
There must have been wind because I could see the girl's hair moving slightly.
The video ended and I was left with a lot of questions.
"What...what was that?" Kazuichi asked, sounding afraid.
"Your motive!" Monokuma explained.
"Our motive? I don't get it," Leafpool noted.
"Neither do I," Mukuro said.
"I got a weird one," Minami noted.
"You don't get it? You seriously don't get it?" Monokuma asked and we all shook our heads.
"You're all dumb! It's someone's memory! Someone in this very room!" Monokuma explained.
!
"Someone's memory?" I asked.
"Yep! There's a name tag on the tablet to show whose memory is it! Some may be completely normal memories while others...," Monokuma grinned, "others may be disturbing. Ta ta~!" He disappeared.
I just saw someone's memory? But whose memory I saw? I wondered.
I looked for the name tag.
-Kazuichi Soda
"..."
I glanced at Kazuichi who was staring at his tablet and he was shaking.
Shaking for what?
"I don't like this," Ed spoke up.
"Huh?"
"I said I don't like this. We don't know much about each other so being shown a memory without context could split us apart," Ed explained.
"You're right. We can't rely on memories being taken out of context," Mukuro added on.
Leafpool purred at this.
I was about to agree when I felt a strong chill going through me.
I looked around to see where the chill was coming from.
I saw Susie staring at me.
No...
She was glaring at me.
For what?
What did I do?
A/N: woooo! Finally done! Let's go!!
Thank you so much for 6k reads! That's impressive! ^^
I start school technically today but classes start tomorrow so updates may be slow in my books not just this one.
Just letting you know.
So close and yet so far.
