Chapter 2 Daily Life part 4
(An hour later)
After eating lunch, I went back to my room.
I was pacing around, doing some thinking.
Mainly things that have been wandering around in my head for days on end.
How are we here? Why are we here? Who are these people? Who is Monokuma actually? Why do we have to kill each other? Why can't I remember anything about my life? And the things that I do remember, don't make sense at all!
I lay down, flat on my back, on my bed.
"Things just don't make sense," I muttered.
My hand went to my pocket only to find it empty.
Oh right I forgot it was in my other trousers, I thought and went looking for it.
I brought out the piece of paper.
Many wars...what the hell is that supposed to mean? I wondered.
I placed it back in my pocket and continued staring at the ceiling.
Knock knock
I complained under my breath before getting up.
I carefully headed over to my door, carefully opened it to see Susie standing there.
"What?" I asked.
"The volleyball midget wants to hold a meeting. I was told to get your a*s over to where he's holding it," she explained.
Volleyball midget? Does she mean Nishinoya? I wondered.
"Umm ok?" I said.
I got out of my dorm, closed the door behind me and followed Susie.
But we weren't heading to the dining room. Instead, we were heading to the gym.
I stayed a few feet apart from Susie. I was suspicious of her if I have to be honest.
We entered the gym to see a lot of people hanging around.
I spotted Leafpool sitting on the bleachers so I went up to her.
"Hey do you have any idea what does Nishinoya want?" I asked.
She shook her head.
"No. He says he has a surprise and a proposition for us. Whatever that means," she explained.
I sat down next to her, waiting.
Ash came running into the gym.
"Hey hey! What's going on? What's happening?" He asked enthusiastically.
"Who the hell knows?" Ed shrugged.
"Ok!" Ash went up to him and stood there waiting patiently.
Ed rolled his eyes at this.
After a while...
From the storage room came Nishinoya.
"What were you doing in there?" Mukuro asked.
"Getting some stuff," he said, dropping some buckets down.
"What are you planning?" Daisy asked.
"Well, we're all mostly down from the events and some of us have been affected by the motive so I decided to do something about it," Nishinoya explained.
"Hey what's your secret by the way?" Ash asked suddenly.
"I got suspended once by hitting a teacher out of anger once. Not important," Nishinoya waved it off like it was nothing.
"Huh?!" Ash looked shocked.
"Like I said nothing important," Nishinoya bend down to pick up his volleyball ball.
"So what did you decide to do about this situation?" Daisy asked.
"Well..."
"I was thinking of having a volleyball match to keep our minds off of our current situation for now. Nothing but a friendly competition to keep our spirits up," Nishinoya explained.
"What?! Like that's going to do anything," Ed snapped.
"I don't know. Maybe if we keep our spirits up and instead of wallowing in our sorrow, maybe just maybe, we can have much better chance of getting out of here," Hibiki suggested.
"How?" Minami asked.
"Well if we're more motivated and we're not all sad, then we'll be able to stand up against Monokuma and we can get out!" Daisy said.
"Yeah! Wow Daisy you're so smart!" Mami cheered.
"Thank you," Daisy smiled.
"So we're playing volleyball?" I asked.
"Right you are Tommy!" Nishinoya replied.
"That's great and all but there are a few people that well...," I look around, trying not to look at Leafpool.
But in the corner of my eye, I could see her glaring at me with amusement.
"I know that. That's why I'm now asking who wants to play and we'll split up the teams like so," Nishinoya pointed out.
"I can't play but I'll watch and cheer for you," Leafpool said.
"Count me out," Ed said as well.
Despite those two, everyone else seemed to be wanting to play a match or two.
"Alright so we'll split into a hopefully even amount of people. Annabeth mind helping me split up the teams?" Nishinoya asked.
"Oh sure Nishinoya," Annabeth said.
"Just call me Noya for short if you like," Nishinoya said.
After what took a little while, the teams were made.
First team: Daisy, Ash, Minami, Annabeth, Lloyd, Isabelle and Susie
Second team: Mukuro, Nishinoya, Kazuichi, Papyrus, Hibiki, Mami, and Tommy.
"Seven against seven. Leafpool, Ed, mind keeping up with the score?" Nishinoya asked.
Ed was about to speak when Leafpool cut in.
"We don't mind," she said.
Ed made a noise at this but stayed silent.
I looked at the other team.
Well f*ck, I thought.
How and why did both Annabeth and Noya decided to split us up into these teams?
I just have questions.
"Ok so we need to decide on positions for this fun match. We don't need to worry about it much since this is just for fun but it's best to decide our positions so we don't get confused," Noya explained to our team.
"Alright so we know that Noya takes up the position of libero. Who wants to be a spiker right?" Kazuichi looked at Noya who nodded.
"Spikers are the ones to hit the ball when they are in the air right?" I asked.
"Yeah. We also call them Right Wing Spikers sometimes," Noya replied.
"Dibs on spiker then," I said, quickly.
"Same," Kazuichi said.
"We have two spikers then," Noya muttered.
"Receivers, blockers and a setter is all we need right?" Mukuro asked.
Noya nodded.
I looked back at the other team . They already seem to have picked their positions.
We're screwed, I thought, anime crying.
"Awww don't be like that Tommy. We'll beat them," Mami assured me.
I made a noise that sounded like me complaining but gibberish.
(Time skip because I want to finish this)
"Ack!"
I fell backwards as the volleyball bounced off my chin.
"Owwwww," I whined.
"Are you ok?" Annabeth asked from the other side of the net.
"F*ck no!" I pinched my nose.
Mami giggled, "You sound funny."
I rolled my eyes and got up.
We were losing by a lot.
Now not all of us are volleyball experts and have either barely played it before or never had.
Yeah makes sense why we were kinda bad but hell no!
I'm not letting my pride damper! Big Man Tommy does not lose that easily!
Buuuuut that doesn't mean I can't get hit in the face multiple times with the volleyball.
I overheard Noya muttering about someone named Hinata but I shrugged that off because I had no f*cking clue what he was talking about.
"How many times were you hit in the face?" Kazuichi asked.
"I lost count," I grumbled.
"A total of 15 times but who's counting," Ed called out.
I flipped him off.
"Hey what does that gesture mean?" Ash asked.
"It means Hello on Mars," I replied.
"No it doesn't," Daisy sighed.
"Are you sure you don't need to sit down Tommy?" Leafpool asked but I shook my head.
"I'm fine. Bring it on now!" I said, holding the volleyball out.
...
"Umm Tommy, it's their turn to serve now," Hibiki pointed out.
...
"F*CK!"
And so, we continued to play.
We lost the first set sadly but we were determined to win the second.
And by we, I mean just like half of us.
Monokuma came in every once in a while but he said nothing at all. He just stood there, watching.
I wouldn't have noticed he was there if I wasn't hit in the face multiple times.
This made me wonder, what is he thinking?
"Cover!" Noya shouted, snapping me out of my thoughts.
The ball bounced off his arms and into the air where Mukuro ran over to set it.
Now I haven't spiked the ball successfully once. Kazuichi has but I haven't.
However, Kazuichi was too faraway to spike it and the blockers were ready.
I was the only hope to get one point so we can get ahead.
As Mukuro set it, I ran over to spike it.
Go! Go! Go! Go!
Those were my thoughts as I jumped up to spike it.
Slam!
...
...
...
...
...
"Alright that's one point to this side," Leafpool gestured to our side with her tail.
Ed wrote something down on a whiteboard.
I looked down at my hand, sound deafening around me as my teammates cheered.
It was scruffy when I spiked it and it hurt but in a good way if that makes sense.
"I...I did it?" I asked.
"Good job Tommy!" Mami cheered.
"Yeah nice k-I mean nice!" Noya said.
"I DID IT!" I pumped my fist in the air in celebration.
While it was just one point, one point was enough to lift our spirits and we ended up winning that set.
We lost the third one though but we didn't care.
All we knew that we went to bed happier than these last few days.
A/N: I wanted to get this out and not let anyone wait which is why the pacing went a little fast but I hope you enjoy it.
Honestly if this wasn't a Fanganronpa, this would be a nice slice of life book but sadly nah it's not.
