Chapter 1 Deadly Life part 3: Trial

At long last...

We arrived.

Monokuma sat upon a throne, grinning at us. He looked excited.

(This is the seating chart. I was sort of lazy with it though)

"Ahem, let's begin with a basic explanation of the class trial! So, your votes will determine the results. If you can figure out "whodunnit" then only they will receive punishment. But if you pick the wrong one... then I'll punish everyone *besides* the blackened, and the one that deceived everyone else will graduate!" Monokuma explained, clapping his paws together.

"So...this is really it. The class trial," Lloyd said, folding his arms.

"Umm before we start, can I ask a question?" Kazuichi asked, scratching his chin.

"Sure thing! Make it quick though," Monokuma said.

"Just what the hell is that?" Kazuichi pointed next to him.

It was a portrait of Link but his face was crossed off.

Is that real blood? I thought.

"Ooh, I was waiting for someone to notice. It would be rude if we just left Link out because he's dead. So I decided to place a portrait of him there," Monokuma explained.

A shiver went through us.

"I also have a question," Annabeth raised her hand.

Monokuma groaned, "Make it quick."

"Why are there two empty spaces next to me?" Annabeth asked.

"Well this trial room was designed for eighteen students but only sixteen are here. I don't know where the other two are," Monokuma explained.

I had no idea why but I shivered at this.

Monokuma was creeping me the f*ck out.

"So what should we discuss first?" Hibiki asked.

Oh right, I forgot about this, I thought, hugging myself nervously.

"Well maybe we can discuss how he died. It looks like there's a lot of blood," Mami suggested.

"Not a bad idea," Ed shrugged.

Yeah but didn't people read the Monokuma File? I wondered.

(Yeah I'm going to format the trials very similar to how I format the trials in Into Code. I'll explain how the Non-stop Debates works and I'll do the same when a new mini game comes along so expect a lot of author's notes this chapter)

(How Non-Stop Debates are going to work. If you already know how they work, you may skip this if you like. Anyway, the writing style is going to be very different from when they are normally discussing. Not only will the format be different, but it will also have different italics like bolded for instance. When someone normally speaks in the Non-Stop Debate, their speech will be in italics like that. When they say something that the protagonist (in this case Tommy) needs to shoot a truth bullet at, the words will be highlighted in bolded italics. When Tommy is doing his inner monologue (basically his thoughts), outside of Non-Stop Debates, they will be how they were always were. However in the Non-Stop Debate, they will be normal text like that. Hope that clears things up. Now onto the trial)

Non-Stop Debate: Start!

Truth Bullet: Link's Shield has been equipped

Mukuro: We know he died because of repeated bashes to the head due to the Monokuma File

Susie: Yeah, anyone would know that if they read the damn thing

Daisy: Yes but the weapon was never explained so how come he had those bashes?

Nishinoya: It had to be something heavy because of how much blood there was but it couldn't have been super heavy that he would have died instantly

Ash: Maybe someone punched him super hard!

>The weapon shouldn't be too hard to find. I think I got it.

[Truth Bullet: Link's Shield. Use on punched him super hard.]

[Break]

"Yeah no. There's isn't any proof that someone punched Link enough to both kill him and to leave a lot of blood on the walls. No it has to be his shield," I explained.

"His shield?" Ash asked.

"When I went to go get him for breakfast, I tripped over his shield and was carrying it to his dorm to give it back to him. It was just left there in the hallway," I replied.

"Looks like the culprit tried hiding evidence. Too bad that they seemed to rush and left so many clues," Ed said.

"When you say his shield, what exact proof do you have that it was used for the weapon?" Lloyd asked.

Truth Bullet selected —> Wiped Blood

I got it!

"If you saw the shield up close, then you would have seen the blood on it. Like Ed said, the culprit is most likely trying to hide evidence but was really messy at it," I explained.

"Hmm makes sense but the shield looks heavy and the weapon has to be not super heavy to kill him instantly," Sky pointed out.

"I was able to carry it very easily though," I said.

"Hmm are we sure you're not the culprit?" Sky hummed.

"I'M NOT THE F*CKING CULPRIT, YOU B*TCH!" I snapped.

"Tommy, chill," Nishinoya tried to reason but I just glared at him.

"Actually I can vouch for him. I picked up the shield as well while investigating and he's right. It's not that heavy. I think if it was hit repeatedly somewhere, it would do serious damage. Could even kill," Kazuichi explained.

I let out a sigh of relief.

"Well we got the weapon down. What's next?" Leafpool asked.

Poor Leafpool though. She had to stand on her hind legs to even see us. At least she was leaning on the podium for support.

Now is not the time to wonder why couldn't whoever made this, made a podium for cats, I mentally slapped myself.

"Ok maybe we can discuss alibi's," Annabeth suggested.

"Well who was the earliest up?" Hibiki asked.

"That would be Mami and I. I asked Monokuma for permission if I could stay with Mami in her dorm for a bit," Daisy said.

"Yep! Daisy and I went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. I wanted to make crepes but we found waffles first so we stick with that," Mami explained.

"I saw Mukuro come out of her dorm around the same time that I did. We walked to the dining room together," Lloyd said.

"I can confirm," Mukuro nodded.

"Susie, Minami and I were next," Leafpool explained.

"Yes!" Susie said and Minami simply nodded.

"I woke up to the announcement. Had to make sure that I looked presentable enough before going to breakfast. I was alone up until I arrived at the dining room," I explained.

One by one, alibis and stories were shared.

Ash's alibi was Annabeth who saw him sniff the air before running off to the dining room.

Ash did see a lock of blonde hair before running off so their stories matched up.

Ed and Hibiki met up in the hallways so they walked an uncomfortable silence together to the dining room.

Nishinoya saw their backs but had to stop to tie his shoe.

Sky was getting ready to go to the dining room but had to stop to drag Kazuichi out of his dorm.

Kazuichi most likely didn't even leave his dorm until Sky dragged him off.

I tapped the podium nervously.

"Someone has to be lying. There's no way that all of us have some sort of alibi," Ed said, folding his arms.

"Well Tommy is the only one who doesn't have a solid alibi. He did say that he was alone until he entered the dining room," Susie suggested.

"But I'm not the f*cking culprit. I was asleep until the morning announcement," I explained.

"What does the morning announcement have to do with this?" Ash asked.

Truth Bullet selected —> Monokuma File

I got it!

"Link died two minutes before the announcement. I woke up when the announcement came on. How would you explain how I was able to kill Link, hide evidence and somehow fall back asleep to only wake up to the announcement in under two minutes?" I explained, folding my arms.

"And don't say that I'm lying because big men like me don't lie," I added on as Sky was opening her mouth.

"Yeah Tommy doesn't strike me to be someone who lies about a situation like this," Kazuichi said.

I sighed in relief.

"So with that bit of information, we need to find a way to narrow it down to small group of people and potentially find the culprit," Daisy said.

"Right, we should discuss that immediately," Leafpool said.

Non-Stop Debate: Start

Truth Bullets: Hibiki's Account has been equipped

Minami: Well I guess we can narrow it down to either the ones who were early or late

Ash: Yeah but most of us have alibis. Gonna really hard don't you think?

Mukuro: It's possible that someone wanted to have an alibi so we wouldn't raise an eyebrow

Nishinoya: We could narrow it down from the people remaining yesterday when our motives were shown

Minami: Wait what happened yesterday?

Sky: Did no one told you?

Ed: No, we didn't have that much to talk before...Link's death and after

>So the way that we can narrow it down is to use this knowledge!

[Truth Bullet: Hibiki's Account. Use on the people remaining yesterday ]

[Break!]

"That's it! I wasn't there but Hibiki told me that when some of us left, Link did this whole speech about not giving up and saying that his dorm will always be open. Plus his door doesn't appear to be force open so Link must have let the culprit in by his own will," I explained.

"What? So Link let the culprit in?" Ed asked.

He sounded shocked and angry.

Why would he sound this pissed? I wondered.

"So we can narrow it down to the ones who were there when Link did his speech. Which eliminates Ed, Minami, Daisy, Mami, Susie and Tommy," Mukuro explained, counting down on her fingers.

"That still leaves us with so many possibilities!" Sky pointed out.

"Yes...including you," Ed glared at her.

Sky glared back at him.

...

"Well not really if we think about it. We can eliminate some of us. Specifically the boys," Ed said, breaking his glare from Sky.

"What? What do you mean?" Leafpool asked.

"There's two people who can vouch for this," Ed looked at Daisy and I.

We can? What the hell does he mean? I wondered.

(Here's how this next mini game will work. Letter will be appearing in italics while the letters that Tommy needs will be in bold like this. Also because I like writing the trials in form like if it's a video game, there may be a word refill halfway through the mini game if the original word bank doesn't have enough letters to make the word. So yeah that's about it.)

"We found evidence in the girl's bathroom. Is that what you are saying?" I asked.

"That's exactly it," Ed said.

"Wait the girl's bathroom? How were you guys able to enter it?" Hibiki asked.

"Well I asked Monokuma beforehand if we could investigate the girl's bathroom and he said yes," Daisy noted.

"Yep Yep! But only for investigation purposes. If you enter the opposite gender bathroom, you will get shot with a machine gun, upupupu~," Monokuma explained.

"So you suspect that the culprit is a girl?" Mukuro asked.

"Yeah, who else could have entered the bathroom?" Ed asked.

!

"I don't mean to go against you but I need some definite proof that the culprit is female. I just need to get that cleared up," Mukuro explained.

This...seems like a challenge. Nothing that Big Man Tommy can't do! I thought, confidently.

(Rebuttal show down is going to be similar to non stop debate in terms of writing. That's all honestly)

Rebuttal Showdown

Truth Blade: White/Pink Cloth has been equipped

Mukuro: I get what you are saying but have it occurred to you that this may be a trick caused by the culprit. Maybe they decided to trick us in thinking that they are a female making us feel suspicious of one side of our group?

[Advance]

Tommy: I understand. We did just accuse you girls but I think Ed has a point. There is evidence that it was a girl who did this. And if that's true then we'll be one step closer to solving this!

Mukuro: Yes I can see that but what proof do you have. It wouldn't be like they entered the bathroom themselves. Don't forget to think outside the box sometimes

>Think outside the box? I'm confused but hey I know what evidence to show her

[Truth Blade: White/Pink cloth. Used on they entered the bathroom themselves.]

[Break!]

"Monokuma said it himself. If you enter the bathroom of the opposite gender, you get shot. Why would a ripped cloth be this deep in the bathroom? Unless they used magic or something, it shouldn't be possible to shove it down the toilet without entering the bathroom purposely," I explained.

"Well that makes even more sense. Thanks for clearing it up for me," Mukuro nodded.

"So the culprit has to be a girl wearing the colors of the cloth," Kazuichi said.

"Right so we could eliminate some people but there is still this thing in question. Was it someone who was early or late?" Annabeth asked.

>Early or late. Maybe this could help us?

Truth Bullet selected —> Note

I got it!

"Leafpool, you found a note under Link's bed right? Maybe that could help us find something," I suggested.

"Yeah! What I can gather is that someone wanted to meet up with Link at 6:30," Leafpool explained.

"So it has to be one of the people who were up early!" Sky said.

"How early did Daisy and Mami woke up?" Susie asked.

"Hmm I believe both of us woke up around the time of...well the announcement didn't play until after we got to the kitchen so around late 6:50," Daisy said.

"I actually think that it couldn't be anyone up that early because Link died at 6:58. The announcement goes off at 7:00. That's when the dorms become filled with people going to go and eat breakfast. It has to be ones who were late or somewhat late," Ed explained.

"So, the culprit has to be a girl, wears white clothing and has to be one of the later people who came in. Hmmm, who could it be?" Leafpool wondered.

"Well shouldn't it be one of the more stronger people here? How would the culprit decide to kill Link by bashing his head? The shield as you said, isn't that heavy so it would have taken a while to kill him. Are we sure that Link didn't fight back?" Sky asked.

"I guess she has a point. Link doesn't seem to be the type of person to hurt someone but to defend himself enough to hold the culprit back...hmm," Lloyd muttered.

Non-Stop Debate:Start!

Truth Bullet:Link's Sword equipped

Lloyd: While we know that Link died via head bashing, it would have taken a while to actually kill him

Daisy: Of course he couldn't have been prepared for it as well. He must have been taken off guard when the culprit attacked him

Mukuro: But how did they hold him down long enough to kill him? There wasn't any other injuries on him that suggest that other than what we already know such as his broken wrists and the stab wound on his leg

Mami: Maybe the stab wound was the thing that held him down!

Nishinoya: Or his wrists? There's a couple of possibilities

Hibiki: He must have been in a lot of pain, easy for the culprit to continually bash his head with his own shield

Annabeth: Poor Link

>I reckon that what they said that he was in pain is correct. It's possible that maybe he had one of his injuries before the head bash.

[Truth Bullet: Link's Sword. Use on was the thing that held him down.]

[Break!]

"That's it! Whoever the culprit is must have stabbed Link in the leg and then broke both of his wrists. He had those injuries before the head bashing," I explained.

"So you theorize that the culprit decided to disable Link for a bit before killing him?" Annabeth asked.

"I don't just theorize it. I can prove it!" I said.

Truth Bullet selected —> More than broken right wrist

I got it!

"The culprit went overboard with Link's right wrist. It seems like they only wanted to disable both hands but went too far with his right wrist. That was more accidental than on purpose," I explained.

"Ok? But I don't see how that's a reason that Link got those injuries before he got head bashed?" Annabeth asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It's easier to kill an injured person. It's a terrible thing and only wrongings ever swoop that low. But the culprit is a wronging since they killed Link so I guess it's not unexpected," I explained.

"F*cking prick," I added on under my breath. Whoever the culprit is, I hope the hammer of BIGLAW is brought down upon them.

Wait, who the hell is BIGLAW anyway? I thought.

"If they did that much injury, then they would have been covered at least a little bit in blood?" Daisy pointed out.

"Well yes...I guess," I muttered.

"Are you even taking this seriously?" Daisy asked.

"Yeah I am," I said, taken back of what she said.

"Our lives are on the line! If we get this wrong, who knows what will happen?" Daisy explained.

Ah crap! I shouldn't have added the 'I guess.' I should have been more clear about my answer. Only children aren't clear with their answers and I'm no child! I am a man! I thought

Rebuttal Showdown: Start!

Truth Blade: Trail of Blood has been equipped

Daisy: We're investigating a murder here and you're not being very clear. Making me think that you're not taking this seriously. If you are, then answer my question.

[Advance]

Tommy: Yeah sorry about sounding carefree. I am taking this seriously I swear! I swear to Crow Father that I am. About your question, of course they would have covered in a bit of blood!

Daisy: Then what proof do you have about it? No one spotted anyone covered in blood, they didn't leave anything behind and even now, there's nobody hiding any blood

>She was there investigating the girl's bathroom with Ed and I but she didn't see that which brought me to the bathroom in the first place!

[Truth Blade: Trail of Blood. Use on didn't leave anything behind.]

[Break!]

"Why did you think I wanted to investigate the girl's bathroom? Because there was a f*cking trail of blood that leads to the bathroom," I explained.

"Trail of blood?" Daisy asked.

"Yeah, that answers your question. The culprit was covered in blood but washed it off and then left clean. Which is why nobody here is hiding the fact that they have blood on them," I explained.

"Well since we found a cloth, we can assume that they got blood on their shirt and tried to dispose of it but were rushing and didn't dispose of it right," Ed said.

"We got how Link was able to die and we even have a narrow sense of who the culprit could be. Now all we have to do is put the puzzle together," Kazuichi said.

"But how? We can't point fingers at anyone at random, we have to make sure that we got the culprit," Sky pointed out.

What they are saying is right. All we need to do is put the puzzle together but we can't just accuse someone innocent. F*CK, why does this has to be so hard! I thought.

Class Trial Postponed

A/N: told you that I write a lot for the trial.

The trials are going to be split in two parts. The next part will be coming whenever I feel the motivation to type.

Got any theories on who is the culprit now that we got a bit of information?
