Tip #7
I love me a good execution.
If you want a good execution, I suggest using this recipe of mine:
1 Blackened Student
3 teaspoons despair
5 cups of backstory-related drama
2 pints of fear
3/4 cup of weird
Sounds crazy, right?
Basically, you want your character's last moments to be despair-filled.
With that in mind, along with the traditional executions of the canon games, avoid simple executions like hanging, beheading, or lethal injection, if the student doesn't experience despair before they die.
I don't care if you love them, make them suffer.
Canonically, the third chapters have two culprits and one blackened, but (I'm blanking on it's name help-) there is a fangame with two culprits, because they killed one person at the same time.
However, if that's not your style, have two culprits for two victims. That, for sure, will make things interesting.
(I'm getting Clue vibes here-)
Anyways.
Before you make it a gorey, bloody mess, make sure you know who might be seeing this game. If you're putting it in the world, you might want to censor it a little bit. I am guilty of making incredibly dark executions, but I know that I'm not likely to publish the ones with extremely dark executions.
Make sure the execution is relevant to the character, and don't make it too graphic or intense if you plan on publishing it. At the very least, put a gore warning so your readers know what's coming.
If the character survives the execution, make a logical explanation.
Makoto survived his execution because Alter Ego was able to override the slam-thing for a moment because he'd been uploaded to the school network. If that hadn't happened, Makoto would have died.
That's just one example, and your character doesn't have to be saved by A.I. Just make sure it makes sense.
Yes, it's a short chapter this time, and that's cause I think executions are pretty straightforward. If you want more tips, let me know and this chapter will be updated.
