Shuichis pov

"ok the decorations are hung, the boloons are blown and the cake is here" I muttered to myself as I ticked things off of the list.

Today is makis birthday. She doesn't often have a party since she had no family to celebrate it with but as her partners me and kaito decided that we should throw her a surprise birthday party!

"everything should be perfect right? Oh god did I forget something?" I muttered as my anxiety got the better of me "This has to be perfect or maki won't like it!"

My thoughts were cut off by my partner kaitos warm embrace "shh babe relax. Your far too stressed right now" he muttered softly.

"sorry" I muttered softly "I just want everything to be perfect for maki"

"don't worry about that. Things will be perfect in makis eyes cause we were the ones who made this possible"

I smiled at him. He always knows just what to say.

"she's coming!" keade yelled.

We all ran and hid. Once maki walked in we jumped out and yelled "surprise!"

She stared at us in stunned silence. I felt my anxiety crawling up. Dose she not like it?

"maki are you-" I was cut off by maki pulling both me and kaito into a hug. I smiled as I lay my head on her shoulder.

I guess things worked out after all..
