Chapter 21 - NOW Are We Done Here? Yes? YESSSS!!
Kit's POV, and I'm worried about the person making these chapter names.
"Is it...Anti? What does that even mean?" I wondered.
As I pointed my light at the stairway leading down, Cassia spoke. "What if...it's Jack? I mean, if, in this universe, it's ONLY Dark and Anti, it wouldn't count as alter egos since Dark and Anti don't exactly have their own bodies. Otherwise, they'd be twins, not alter egos."
"So...it could be Jack?" ilbarker asked.
"Possibly...." I muttered.
I walked past the sign and looked down the stairway.
Just a normal stairway.
"I don't like this...." KitKat growled lowly.
I sighed. "There's only one way to go, and it's down."
"Technically, we could go back up, but I'm not wanting to do that, so yeah. Down." ilbarker rambled.
I scoff and let KitKat and ilbarker go down first. I turned to Cassia. "You...." I paused.
She looked...like...she was having a hard time breathing.
"Cassia, are you ok?" I asked, going to her side.
She coughed a bit. "Y-Yeah. L-Let's just get them and g-go...."
I knew she wasn't ok, but there wasn't much I could do, and I was NOT going to leave her alone in this place.
I wrapped my arm around her shoulder. "Come on, then...."
She shivered slightly as we walked down the stairs, KitKat and ilbarker waiting halfway down.
We walked the rest of the way down and stood in front of a door.
"Yeah, that looks about right." ilbarker said bluntly.
I walked up to it and placed my hand on the door handle, turning it slowly.
I pushed it inwards, wincing at its loud creaking noise.
I walked in slowly and my flashlight then died.
Nice.
Fortunately, the room was dimly lit to the point of enough sight not to trip over something.
KitKat walked in slowly, tensed up. She was growling quietly.
Cassia limped in and the door shut automatically.
I jumped a little at the sound, but my focus was on the person in the center of the room.
Anti.
Or...was it...?
The sign....
Anti was looking at us, but...it also didn't look like Anti. His eyes were normal blue, but he still had green hair and a slightly faded cut on his neck.
"Guys...that's Jack...." I whispered.
He was tied on a chair and gagged, but he didn't look scared so much as he looked angry. I don't think it was directed at us, though.
"WELL, WELL, WELL...." Dark's voice said.
I heard a muffled yelp from Jack as he looked behind him, focusing on something that wasn't there. ilbarker was also looking there with wide eyes.
Dark must've been standing there.
"I MUST SAY, YOU GUYS ARE DILIGENT. IT WAS ENTERTAINING WATCHING YOU ALL SCRAMBLE AROUND IN DESPERATE ATTEMPTS TO SAVE ONE ANOTHER."
ilbarker growled. "You said 48 hours to get all of us together to Anti...or Jack here. We did it. Will you listen to us?"
...Silence.
ilbarker's gaze traveled to me with slightly wide eyes.
Please don't tell me....
Something grabbed my wing, and I yelped, jumping away from the freaky touch.
But whatever it was kept a firm hold on my wing, making my shoulder ache.
"Dark, please let go of me...." I said cautiously.
He only laughed.
KitKat growled and stalked towards me slowly, looking as if she were ready to pounce.
Something cold pressed itself against my neck. Something sharp.
I couldn't see anything there, but I knew what it was.
A knife.
"AH, AH, AH! LET'S PLAY FAIRLY, NOW. HOW ABOUT WE LOSE THE KITTY?"
KitKat paused and hissed. ilbarker whispered something into her ear, and KitKat sighed, laying down.
ilbarker, in obvious pain, slid to the floor, landing on her stomach with a hiss.
KitKat looked at me, or somewhere around me, and growled lowly.
"Hurt her and you will regret it."
She shrunk into her kitten form and then into a stick. ilbarker grabbed the stick and brought it close to her.
The cold sharpness left my neck. "THAT'S BETTER. NOW...I SUPPOSE I CAN HEAR WHY YOU SO DESPERATELY NEED ME."
I sighed. "We...came from a different dimension to find you guys for these 2 people to see so they could move on and let our fri----"
Cassia erupted into a fit of hoarse coughs, falling to her knees with one hand on the ground to keep her up and one hand on her chest.
ilbarker pulled herself next to Cassia, laying a hand over her hand on the ground.
"AH, THE POISON IS STARTING TO TAKE EFFECT." Dark said menacingly.
It took all my willpower and then some to not go to Cassia.
"...To...let our friends go, back where we are." I continued.
"YOU NEED...MY HELP FOR THAT?" Dark questioned.
I could hear his voice floating about me. I think he was circling me.
"Well...your help, Anti's...Jack's...and, um, Mark's...."
The air stilled around me.
"YOU NEED...MARK, TOO?"
Cassia was bent over now, still coughing.
I nodded. "Yes, please, we need your help."
"AND WHY SHOULD I HELP YOU?" He sneered.
"Because then we'll leave you alone. I'm pretty sure we're starting to annoy you. We only need you two for...at least an hour, if not less."
Jack kept watching me with wary eyes.
The air started moving around me again.
It was silent aside from Cassia's heavy breathing.
"Kit, I don't think we have much time left." ilbarker said worriedly. "Cassia's getting worse."
I bit my lip. "Dark...please...."
Jack's eyes moved away from me and on something walking across the room that I couldn't see.
There were some shuffling noises before Jack swiftly stood up, ripping the tape off his mouth. "That wasn't necessary, Dark!" He said loudly.
Dark scoffed. "ALRIGHT. I'LL GO. DO YOU NEED MARK OUT FIRST?"
I nodded. "That would be preferable."
He sighed, and a few moments later, a man dropped next to Jack.
Mark.
It was weird seeing him again in physical form.
"Ugh.... I really hate that...." Mark muttered as Jack helped him up.
Cassia erupted into more heavy coughs, but when I turned to her, I gasped.
She was coughing up blood.
ilbarker winced as she dug in her pocket, pulling out the stone. She tossed it to me. "Quick, we need to get back!"
I knelt down next to Cassia and placed a hand on her back. ilbarker grabbed my hand, my stick in her other. I beckoned Jack and Mark over. "Here, grab my hand with the stone."
They hesitated for a second before doing so.
The scene blurred around us and I nearly blacked out, but I managed to keep consciousness.
We all landed roughly on the floor of the 4th floor, the stone turning to dust and falling from my hand.
Cassia completely fell over and her coughs were getting weaker, yet she was still coughing blood.
"Oh my gosh, Cassia! What...?" Known started.
I swiftly stood up, heading to the chest with the potions of resistance.
AAAAND it was empty.
Good thing I have wings.
I turned to Mark and Jack. "You guys do your thing for these spirits." I pointed at Ross and Seto as they floated closer to Mark and Jack. "I have to go get someone."
Without waiting for a response, I walked out the door and stood on the ledge, looking around the parkour room.
I took a deep breath and jumped, my wings folded behind me as I dive-bombed towards the door.
When I was a decent distance from the ground, I let my wings out and glided to the door. I almost overshot the door. AKA I almost hit the door.
;-;
I let out a small breath and raced down the stairs, bursting into the Grand Hall.
Everyone was there. Caleb was clinging to alzakz, Jason and spark were whispering to each other, and Becky, Rebekitah, and Becca all stood in a sorta circle, Becca holding her head.
They turned around swiftly when the doors flew open.
KIT! Becca exclaimed as she ran to me.
I tried to catch my breath before speaking. "Upstairs...on the 4th floor...Cassia and ilbarker hurt...Cassia is dying...."
Becca's eyes went wide before she ran past me. I followed her as best I could.
We got to the parkour room and Becca immediately took off. I flexed my wings and followed.
We finally got back into the room.
And it was quiet except for some quiet sobbing.
Seto and Ross were gone, and so were Jack and Mark. I guess Seto sent them back before moving on.
ilbarker was still on the ground next to Cassia. Known and Aura had tears in their eyes.
No...please don't tell me....
ilbarker looked up at me, her eyes puffy. "Kit...she's gone...she's gone!!" She cried.
I ran over and knelt next to Cassia.
She was as pale as a dead person and blood trickled from her mouth, her eyes clouded over.
Shakily, I placed 2 fingers on the major artery in her neck.
...
...
...
...Nothing....
Becca ran over and I scooted to the side, letting her kneel next to Cassia.
Becca gasped. Oh no....
She was silent for a bit, looking Cassia's body over. Her eyes suddenly got wide. ...I can bring her back.
ilbarker looked at her. "H-How?!"
Becca placed a hand on her own chest, looking at it. I still have the Irene relic from forever ago.
But, Becca, you'll lose the relic if you bring her back. You're not Irene, so the relic would disappear if you did that.
The MV. Haven't heard from them for a while.
Does it really matter? I'm looking at one of my dead friends here!
Then at least do ilbarker first. Otherwise, she'll still be hurt and you'll be without the relic to help her.
Becca looked over at ilbarker and hissed in empathetic pain as she saw the burns across ilbarker's back.
"Yeah, I know, it's bad...." ilbarker mumbled.
Becca placed her hand lightly on ilbarker's back, causing ilbarker to hiss slightly.
Sorry.... Becca muttered as she focused on ilbarker's wound.
It glowed quite a bit until the glow died down, revealing a non-burned back! Even the shirt was fixed!
Without pausing, she made a motion for us to stand back, so we did.
She took a deep breath and placed a hand on Cassia's head and one on her chest where her heart was.
Becca took even, deep breaths as her chest started glowing slightly. An outline of the Irene relic was visible.
Becca had her eyes shut, and she was looking down at her lap, muttering something.
The glowing grew brighter until Becca yelped in pain. The Irene relic flew out of her chest and floated over Cassia.
Becca gritted her teeth as the relic expelled particles that flew into Cassia.
It did this for a few moments before it stopped, its glow disappearing. Then it disappeared.
Becca nearly fell over, using one of her hands to steady herself.
Cassia was still....
And then her chest started moving.
She got a few breaths out before she bolted up, coughing roughly.
"CASSIA!!" I exclaimed as I hugged my friend.
She coughed a bit before chuckling lightly. "Kit...I'm fine...."
ilbarker sat up and went to hug Cassia, as well.
We eventually just all ended up hugging, Known and Aura included. Unfortunately, we kinda got off-balanced and we all toppled over...onto Becca.
She laughed slightly. Fun dog-pile, but I'd like to breathe, please.
With small laughs from all of us, we got off of her and she sat up, sighing.
Well...Seto and Ross are done. We have one last set to visit.
We all glanced at each other.
The alter ego people (no, not Becky and Rebekitah)....
...Ian and Crainer.
