One of the pains I know

that continues to bug people

terribly all over the world

is the pain of an unreturned love

to have them close

yet oblivious to the heart

handed to them, hopefully

and it bleeds lonesomely in the hand

but still the hand reaches out

forever expecting the other to take it.
