Ch 24: Rising/Will

~time skip brought to you by a sleeping Samantha~

Sam's P.O.V

I woke up in the morning with the sunlight shining through my window. I put on my favorite band shirt and skinny jeans. I heard that Hannibal was having a special guest over today. I wanted to make sure I looked extra good.

"Mr. Graham, I'm looking forward to seeing you this evening. I am eager to hear about the work you've been doing lately. Perhaps I can help, like old times."

Dr. Lecter was on the phone with someone I assumed to be his guest. Apparently they used to work together. I wonder who he is. Well, I'll find out soon enough. I'd best go greet Dr. Lecter.

"Good morning, Dr. Lecter." I said after he hung up the phone. "Good morning, Ms. Amaranth. Did you sleep well?" He asked. "Oh yes. I slept wonderfully. Thank you." I smiled. He walked into the kitchen and I followed. I saw fresh coffee and breakfast displayed on the table. It's so kind of him to do things like this. "Will you have breakfast with me?" He asked, smiling. "Of course I will. Thank you, Dr. Lecter." I sat down at the table and I made my coffee as he served breakfast to us both, me first like the gentleman he is. He is too kind to me. Being my psychologist and therapist is one thing, inviting me into his home to live is another. I hope there are no ulterior motives here. I've grown awfully tired of that. "I have a colleague and former patient visiting today, Samantha. His name is Mr. Graham and we've known each other for quite a few years. I trust that you will show him respect and be on your best behavior Ms. Amaranth. Is that correct?" He asked me. "Yes Dr. Lecter." I nodded. "Thank you. I'm sure he'll be delighted to meet you. Now let's focus on breakfast." We ate breakfast and the sun shone throughout the day. As the hour approached for Mr. Graham to come, the weather changed rather strangely. I was outside looking at the skies as they changed from powder blue to a dark grey. Dr. Lecter looked outside at me and called me inside, noticing the sudden change in the weather. He opened the door "Come inside Samantha. It's going to rain any minute now." I obeyed, though I didn't really want to. I liked the weather outside and I didn't necessarily like spending more time alone with him. I don't know why but I've gotten a strange feeling recently, almost sinister. I shouldn't think that way, because after all, Dr. Lecter rescued me from my previous place of residence and took me into his home. But it's almost like something isn't right. He must be hiding something. I'm going to find out what it is.

Dr. Lecter and I passed the time, silently waiting for Mr. Graham. As soon as the doorbell rang, almost on cue I might add, thunder rumbled and lightning struck outside with a loud resonance. It nearly frightened me out of my chair. Dr. Lecter went to the door to let Mr. Graham in and I stood up from my chair. "Mr. Graham, it's wonderful to see you. It's been too long. What's kept you?" Dr. Lecter grinned. "Dr. Lecter. It's a pleasure to see you as well, but you know I prefer you call me Will." Mr. Graham, or as he prefers to be called Will, shook Dr. Lecter's hand as he welcomed him inside. "Who might this be, Doctor?" Will looked at me from afar. "This is Ms. Amaranth, a patient of mine. She's staying with me for the time being." Dr. Lecter replied. Will walked towards me "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Amaranth." I shook his hand, smiled and said "Likewise. You can call me Samantha."

(a/n: if you've seen NBC's Hannibal, he is the Will I pictured)

Will was a tall, finely dressed man. He didn't dress quite like Dr. Lecter. It was more of an "English professor" look, yet still well put together. Will had short, curly brown hair and deep blue eyes. He had this way about him that actually made me comfortable, not anxious. I didn't expect that. I thought I would want to run scared.

"Now that you've met, Will and I have some business to discuss. Will you perhaps read a book or distract yourself in a healthy manner while we talk, Ms. Amaranth?" Dr. Lecter asked me. I nodded "Yes, Dr. Lecter." Will looked at him with a curious face and Dr. Lecter ignored him. "Thank you. Come on, Will. I'm sure you remember my office?" "Oh, how could I forget Dr. Lecter?"
