Prologue

"Amy! Come down here!" Jay shouted up the stairs, looking at his watch whilst he impatiently tapped his foot.

The night prior he and Gloria had gone for a date, Manny was with Claire and Amy decided to throw another party. A rager at that.

Accidentally, one of Gloria's vases was smashed in a game of catch and the very expensive carpet was stained with disturbing substances, what they could only hope was beer and wine and some chunky alcohol mixture.

When Jay and Gloria had arrived home they had found his daughter laughing on the floor, blood trickling down her arm as her best friend tried to pick her up and take her upstairs.

Lydia and Amelia had been best friends since they were four years old, they've had their fallouts but they always resolved their problems. They had a huge friendship group but Lydia was her person.

Bree Wallis, Lydia Darcy, Maddison Montgomery, Robbie Keane, Dion Johnson and Jamie Fox were Amy's closest friends.

Their group was known as the party group, Amy the most well known among their fellow students for being a troublemaker and a party girl.

That's why when Jay and Gloria arrived home at two am in the morning to find Bree asleep on their couch with her legs on Robbie, his head on Dion. Jamie, Maddison and Lydia were the three least drunk of the group, Amy taking that title as always.

The trio were picking up Amy and wiping her face, Jamie grimacing whilst cleaning the vomit next to her. Amy had tearstreaks down her cheeks as she sobbed in Lydia's arms.

"What on earth happened here?" Jay stormed, marching up to his daughter and roughly pulling her upright as she staggered. "You're a mess. Why am I not surprised?" He groaned as her tears kept falling.

Lydia and Maddison helped their friend up the stairs and to her bedroom, helping her into pajamas and wiping away the remnants of her make up.

"Please just leave." She had whispered as her voice broke, she curled up into a ball under her duvet and whimpered, her head spinning from what had happened that night.

That morning she was still curled up, still awake, sleep had never arrived to her. Her phone had been going off all night but she had ignored it.

The noise of high heels cascading up the stairs reached outside her bedroom as her stepmother walked in. "Buenos dias" She smiled, opening the curtains as her youngest stepdaughter groaned.

"Please just go. I want to be alone with my thoughts." Her lip quivered as she fought back tears, Gloria leaving the room as she pulled herself out of bed.

Each step felt heavy as she pulled herself into the shower, lathering her hair and body with raspberry hair and body products. The water was piping hot on her sore skin, bruises had appeared on her arms and thighs.

Turning off the faucet she dried herself and walked into her closet, pulling on a pair of baby pink tracksuit pants, a white tube top and a matching baby pink cropped hoodie. Applying no makeup, only lotion and lip balm she tied her hair in a messy bun and packed her backpack.

Coffee cans, chocolate bars, notebooks, pencil case, laptop, chargers, paracetamol, purse and spray in the bag, she cascaded down the stairs, hiding her face with her hood and sunglasses.

It wasn't the best idea to party on a Sunday night, especially party hard or when she had midterms.

Without speaking a word to her family she climbed into her car, unrolled the windows, connected her phone and pressed her foot on the pedal realising she had no shoes on. "For fuck sake!" She groaned as she walked back inside, throwing on her baby blue sneakers and leaving again.

Thirty minutes later she pulled outside her college, her friends waiting for her. If she was honest she wanted to be alone, she didn't want to be there and she didn't want to speak of last night.

Jamie, Bree, Maddison and Lydia ran up to her all wrapping their arms around her. "You told them?!" Amy groaned, talking to Maddison and Lydia who nodded sheepishly. "I didn't want anyone to know! The more who know, the more likely it is to get out!"
