Big Lights
Small town and big dreams
This place ain't all it seems
Wish I could hop a plane
So nothing feels all the same
Dreaming of a different life
Filled with a little less strife
Life out here is such a bore
I can't stay here anymore
I'm heading for the big lights
See the city in my eyes
Never find my way back home
Away from all these broken lies
Running far away from here
On to something unfamiliar
I'm heading for the big lights
Climbing now to new heights
Driving to a different place
Maybe it is worth the chase
Trying to get out of here
Never had seemed more clear
Perhaps I could take a hike
To find something new I like
There's a whole globe to explore
I can't take this anymore
I'm heading for the big lights
See the city in my eyes
Never find my way back home
Away from all these broken lies
Running far away from here
On to something unfamiliar
I'm heading for the big lights
Climbing now to new heights
Hey Everyone!! This poem really spoke to me through the rhythm. The first two lines I wrote were "I can't stay here anymore" and "I'm heading for the big lights" and then I went from there. I've been considering adding a new chapter of Before the Curtain Opens to introduce Carson's band earlier and I feel like this is the type of angsty teenage song that might be perfect if I choose to go that route. Let me know what you think and feel free to check out my story Before the Curtain Opens to see more of Carson's tunes.
