Chapter 30

Knock Knock Knock.

"Salt, what are you getting into?"

Knock Knock Knock.

"Oh. I guess that wasn't you. Sorry."

Leaving my dinner on the table, I approached the door, curiosity overwhelming any caution I felt. I wonder who it is.

Rather stupidly, I swung it open without looking through the peephole. Standing before me was a dapper man holding a white rose.

I blushed. "You've got a key, you know."

His eyes darted to the floor as he chuckled softly, then landed back in mine. "I know. I just wanted to surprise you."

Jimmy held out the flower. I took it gingerly.

"What's the occasion?"

He shrugged. "I love you. And...." he straightened his tie, "...would you be totally offended if I asked you on the show again?"

I smirked. "Totally."

He grinned back. "I knew you would be." He bit his bottom lip, giggling to himself, and I couldn't stand it anymore. He was being too adorable. I grabbed him by the tie and kissed him quickly.

"I like it when you're offended," he quipped.

I brought him in and threw out the rest of my mac and cheese. "So when will I be on?" I asked.

"Next Friday," he said, sitting on the couch.

"Wow," I chuckled, joining him, "that's pretty soon."

"I wanted to surprise you," he repeated, smiling. "Sorry it's so short notice."

I waved my hand. "Eh, it's alright. I love being on the show. Although, last time I was on it, this weirdo kissed me backstage."

His eyes brightened. "A weirdo?"

"Yeah," I said, shaking my head, "in a dress."

He hummed and tilted his head. "I wonder who it was. They must've scarred you pretty bad."

"Nah," I said, "he smelled nice. And he was a really good kisser."

We chuckled at our memories, hearts pounding, snow falling outside. His laughter was loud and happy, crinkling his nose and shutting his eyes and echoing through my apartment. I wanted to capture the sound and make it my doorbell - or better yet, my theme song.

.............................................

"Please welcome our next guest, Natasha Quinn!"

I walked out from behind the curtains to thundering applause. Jimmy stood and kissed my cheek (as he always does to his female guests), and it took every power I had not to kiss him full-on. I took my seat on the chair and surveyed the crowd. A couple girls towards the front were wearing t-shirts that read, albeit in rather small letters, "Jimtasha Forever". They were losing their minds. I smiled to myself and glanced over at Jimmy. He nodded at me as if to say, "Yep. I see them."

"It's great to have you on the show again," he chirped, the clapping fading away.

"It's great to be here," I replied, beaming.

"So, you're going on tour in a few months with twenty one pilots. How does that feel? Are you totally excited?"

"Totally excited, yeah," I said. "Their music is fantastic and they're awesome guys so I'm very excited to be touring with them."

"Awesome, awesome," he chimed. It felt so weird to be talking this way, so casually. "And when does that tour start? January, right?"

"Yeah, we start in January and end around May."

"Where are you going for it? Just here in the states, or - ,"

"All over the world," I smiled.

"Another world tour!" he said. "That's amazing!"

He asked me about many things - my favorite bands growing up, how awkward middle school was, some stuff about Salt. Towards the end of the first ten minutes or so, he tilted his head towards the audience. "Alright, this is totally off-topic, but did you guys know there's a fanfiction going around about us?"

My heart stopped. What are you doing?! I thought.

"What?" I cried, trying to act shocked, the crowd laughing. The two girls looked like they were going to die.

"Yeah, it's pretty interesting," he went on, grinning like mad.

"You've read it?" I teased. He laughed and smacked the table with his hand.

"Okay yeah, maybe I have," he admitted. "I was curious!" he shouted in defense. The audience was loving it.

I was not.

"But you know what," he said, turning back to me, "it does a pretty good job, except for one thing."

"What's that?" I asked, wanting to hide in a corner.

"In the story I propose to you in Central Park, but in real life I'm proposing to you now."

What?

My eyes widened. The crowd was screaming. Jimmy took my hand and led me out to the floor. Tears quickly blinded my vision. I wiped them away as he got down on one knee, still holding my hand.

"Natasha Quinn," he said, revealing a gorgeous ring in a little blue box, "will you marry me?"

"Of course I will, you weirdo," I choked out, wiping more tears. He slipped the ring on my finger and I pulled him back up, taking his face in my hands to kiss him on camera. The crowd got louder. The two fangirls had probably actually died.

And you know what? I forgot about them all.
