"Scott Hoying?"

Scott looked up quickly from the spot he had been paying special attention to on the floor. A lady in more formal attire was standing by a door, smiling. He was a little scared, to be completely honest. Lobbies were ok. All kinds of people waited in lobbies. But now he actually had to go inside.

But the boy stood up and gave a big smile, following her as she strode through the double doors. They clicked behind him and he looked back for a couple seconds before hurrying to catch up. The lady introduced herself as Caroline, his therapist. Caroline seemed nice... But he remembered what Miss Luna said. That he trusted people too quickly.

She began to explain the facility to him. First floor was mostly check-ins and doctors offices; second was therapists. Third was the cafeteria and other "recreational" activities, the fourth was their dorms, and all she said about the fifth floor was that it was "more serious stuff." Maybe they had instructed her to treat him like a young child after all.

Scott wasn't a little kid. He was as little as any other 16 year old... just a little more sensitive, and maybe a little more clingy and childish at times. But he knew about all the same stuff that other 16 year olds knew about. He wasn't dumb.

They took the elevator up to the fourth floor, which made him sigh in relief that they weren't going on a full out tour. He thought he felt Caroline smile.

"You must be tired." She said when the door clicked open. A long hallway was spread out, with two halls going left at right at the beginning,, and end of it. It looked like a hotel, just with way less doors.

"You'll be sharing a room with five other kids around your age... and they're all new here too, so you won't be left behind, don't worry." She walked to the right and he followed her quickly to where she stopped at the end of the hallway at a door labeled "07."

She handed him a card, and patted it into his hand. "This is the key to your room, ok? Now make sure you don't loose it. Keep it somewhere special." He nodded, a little annoyed, and she patted his back.

"Want me to walk you in?"

He hesitated. "Um... no, thank you." He spoke quietly. She nodded.

"You have a phone in your room, my number is in the handbook. Just call me if you need me or run into any problems." She said it like it was recorded on a tape that played over and over way to many times; and then leaned down to hug him. She didn't really have to lean down that far, though; and he awkwardly hugged back before they shared goodbyes and she left.

After the elevator had gone, he tried his hand at the key. And it turned out maybe he had made a mistake having Caroline leave so soon, because he couldn't figure out how to swipe that card for the life of him. After getting a little anxious, he just decided to knock and hope for the best.

It was around thirty seconds before the handle started to move, around the time when he had started to think that maybe he should go back downstairs. But the door opened a tiny bit, and a pair of brown eyes looked out. Scott's eyes went wide as he looked back; this must be one of his roommates, right?

The kid opened the door all the way. His black hair was messy, and his eyes looked tired, like he had just been laying down for a really long time. The two just kind of blinked at each other for a couple seconds; one in shock, the other clearly not very amused. The unamused kid, once opening the doof and waiting a couple of seconds, turned around and left further into the room. He opened his mouth to say something, but decided it would be better not to bother him. Scott didn't want to ruin a potential friendship in the first five minutes of meeting him... not like that would probably even happen. That kid didn't really look like the social type.

He shut the door softly behind him. It was a small room, with a little bit of open space that lead into a living room. there was more living space off to the left in the back, and next to him on the left an opening with no door lead into a kitchen. A hallway off to the right seemed to hold bedrooms; right after the bathroom that stand next to door.

It was cozy. It felt... it felt fake, but it felt like something he had to himself. According to the people who he drove here with, all of his stuff was already in his room, whichever one that was. The black haired boy was sitting on the couch not moving, watching TV.

Scott tiptoed up to him, about to say something. He noticed how soft his hair looked, and felt the urge to reach out and touch it. But then the door creaked open, and he jumped back in fear of getting caught looking like a creep or something.

A girl was nervously entering the apartment. She had obviously gotten her card to work, and she looked at Scott with wide eyes. Then her eyes went behind Scott to the boy, who was also looking at her, and she gasped. Scott turned around and the boy had his hands over his mouth. He attempted to climb over the couch, and basically fell on his knees.

Scott tried to help him up. "I've got it." He mumbled, and ran towards the girl.

"Mitch..." She mumbled into his neck as they hugged. "Oh my god... I'm so sorry..."

He shook his head. "Don't be sorry." Scott decided this might be a little personal, so he thought that maybe he should leave, but when he stepped back, the girl pulled away from Mitch and wiped her eyes a little, turning to Scott.

"Uh, sorry... I just, know him..." She said, with a weak smile. "I'm Kirstie"

"Scott." He smiled. They must have been apart for a long time. Did he just witness them reuniting? That was so sweet! He couldn't help but smile wide. "So you two are... friends? Or..."

"Oh, we aren't like, dating, yeah... friends." She nodded.

"We met in middle school." He said, a little awkwardly. "I knew her from dance class." Scott's eyes widened. There was apparently a lot of eye widening going on, he realizing. It wasn't just that he was surprised to hear this boy start speaking so casually, but it was that his face was starting to look a little more familiar.

"You dance?" He asked, blinking. Mitch just nodded. Scott started talking.

"My brother, uh..."

He paused. No, he didn't want to start spilling his heart to people he'd met a couple of minutes ago. Listen to Miss Luna, he thought. Be careful who you trust.

"He dated this girl that danced once." He laughed nervously and scratched the back of his head. Mitch just nodded, a little confused.

"...Nice to meet you, Scott." Kirstie attempted to break the awkward silence, but it didn't work, and he suddenly felt an overwhelming desire to go to his room.

"Y-you too."

(if you get that reference i love you if you don't i still love you)
