chapter one

Jordan sips from her glass of water as she looks around the bar. The bar is empty expect for a drunken man a few stools away from her, a couple stealing romantic glances at each other, and a handsome guy only a few years older than her in the back of the bar. The reason the usual cheerful and crowded bar has a lack of costumers is because of the time. It's past 12 o'clock at nighttime. Normally Jordan wouldn't be here, at the bar, at this ridiculous hour, but she's has just arrived home. Her home, Mystic Falls, the quiet, ordinary, everyday town. If it wasn't for Jenna's hectic phone call she wouldn't be here. She would still be in London, where she wandered around the streets in the rain, sung at local cafés, and helped at a elementary school.

Jenna had called her almost crying a few days ago, saying she was doing everything wrong and needed her help desperately. Jordan —being the good person she is— didn't have the heart to decline her request and booked the first flight to Mystic Falls, Virginia. She wonders how her brother and sister are doing, if they really are that bad she concluded from the way Jenna spoke to her. Or if they miss her, or might've even totally forgot about her. She highly doubts the last one has actually happened.

Pulling a five dollar bill from her back pocket she shakes her head and tells the bartender he can keep the change. She jumps of the barstool and slips on her denim jacket.

"See you later Dave," she calls out and disappears into the darkness of the night.

Damon had his eyes fixed on the petite, certainly dyed blonde from the moment she'd walked in, and his gaze only left the moment she'd walked out. Her appearance had him left star struck, and as the minutes ticked by he felt more and more intrigued. He doesn'tknow why he is interested, and it leaves him quite annoyed. He hasn't seen her before, here in Mystic Falls, but he knows she is familiar around here. With the way she talked freely with the bartender and greeted him when she left. Damon couldn't help but feel a slight tingling in his stomach, and he scolded himself for feeling jealous. Damon Salvatore does not get jealous, not even the slightest.

This is it, the moment she is going to see Jenna, Jeremy and Elena again since her parents funeral. Since she packed her bags and left. No goodbye, no explanation. Jeremy and Jenna will probably be glad she's back. Elena too, of course, but she will have a hard time forgiving her sister for leaving when Elena needed her the most.

"Here goes nothing," Jordan whispers and rings the doorbell, probably ringing them out of their slumber.

She bites her nails out of nervous habit and waits for someone to open the door. She can hear Jeremy's faint sleepy voice from inside, "Who in the world rings someone's doorbell at 2 in the morning?"

She smiles to herself at his question.

The next voice she hears startles her and she holds her breath. "Jordan would," Elena answers and she can feel Jeremy's mood sadden at her name. In that moment she wants to kick herself a few months back so she'd never left them.

Jordan regains her posture as the door swings open, and she is greeted with the two sleepyheads of her siblings.

"Hi," Jordan shyly says.

Both heads snap up, and all sleepiness has disappeared. Jeremy's mouth hangs wide open, but she can see the hope and happiness in his eyes. Elena, however, looks like she just got slapped in the face, and her eyes hold betrayal and hurt.

"J-Jordan?" Jeremy stutters, "Is that really you?"

"Yes Jer, it's me, and I'm staying here for good," Jordan whispers, afraid that if she speaks any louder she is going to cry.

Jeremy steps outside in the cold night air and engulfs Jordan in a tight, strong hug, afraid that if he lets go she is going to vanish right before his eyes again. As Jordan and Jeremy let go of each other Jordan looks hopefully at Elena, but before any word can leave her lips Elena starts rambling.

"Where were you? Where were you when I needed you the most. When Jeremy needed you. When Jenna needed you. Where were you goddammit!" Elena exclaims, and Jordan can feel the guilt nagging at her. When her sister swears, Jordan knows she's angry. "You were supposed to be here, you were supposed to mourn with us, but you just left. You vanished into thin air and didn't even look back. I tried to call you, I tried to call you every day, but when I realized you weren't going to answer I gave up. I need you. So, please, please don't leave again, because if you do, you can stay gone." And with her last word being said Elena goes inside.

Jordan's shoulders slump and she heavily breathes in and out a few times to maintain her steady breathing.

"Just give her some time, Elena is hurt right now, but that doesn't mean she doesn't love you nor will never forgive you. Tomorrow she will come around, trust me." Jeremy says while smiling down at Jordan encouragingly.

"Thanks Jer," she says.

Together Jeremy and Jordan step foot inside, and Jeremy shuts the door behind his back.

Hushed voices from downstairs is what wakes Jordan from her sleep. She throws her legs from under covers and she doesn't brother making her bed. Everything in her room looks exactly like the way she left it, which means nobody has touched or moved anything. She puts her tangled hair in a messy bun and puts on sweatpants just in case somebody she doesn't know is down there.

While walking down the steps she rubs her sleepy eyes. Skipping the last few stairs she makes her way into the living room, where not only Elena is, but two strange men as well.

Before one of the four can say something Elena drags her twin sister towards the kitchen, leaving the two mystery guys behind. "I forgive you," she blurts out, "I forgive you, and I'm so sorry for snapping at you yesterday."

"Today," Jordan corrects a puzzled looking Elena, "You snapped at me today."

Elena rolls her eyes at her sister, and a distant chuckle is heard from the living room. Jordan's face lights up and she holds Elena tight. They don't let go of each for a good five minutes. When they do, they laugh. They just laugh, they let go of all their worries for just a minute.

As great as laughing is, as great are Elena's —and soon to be Jordan's— problems.

"So," Jordan says, "Who are those two guys and what are they doing at eight in the morning in our living room?" she says and wiggles her eyebrows. At the mention of the two brothers their ears concentrate on the conversation happening between Elena, and the for them mystery girl.

Elena blushes and motions for Jordan to shush, "One of them is my boyfriend, and the other one is his brother," she says and her eyes fill with love and adoration at the mention of her boyfriend.

"Boyfriend? What happened to Matt?"

"We broke up," Elena simply states.

Jordan feels sorry for Matt, but can't help but smile when she sees Elena all giddy about her new boyfriend. "As long as he doesn't hurt you it's okay with me, I'm still going to give him the boyfriend lecture however." Jordan says while smirking at an embarrassing Elena. Together they walk while chatting and laughing towards the living room, and Jordan is so glad she came back.

Damon's breath is caught in his throat as the two girls walk in. Now that he can take a good look at her he realizes she is the girl from the bar, and he mentally slaps himself for not recognizing her voice. With a soft with husky edgy voice like her, she wouldn't even need compulsion to tell men —and even women— what to do.

Stefan hears the mishap in the breath of Damon and he narrows his eyes. Stay away from her Damon, please stay away. Stefan thinks before Elena speaks up.

"Stefan, Damon, this is my twin sister Jordan," Elena says, and both brothers eyes widen with surprise.

Sister? Elena has a sister?

"I didn't know you had a sister," Damon says, "Hello beautiful, I'm Damon Salvatore," he says, flashing his signature smirk as he takes Jordan's hand to give it a feathery kiss.

"Hi, I know you! You were the guy from the Mystic Grill last night, I'm Jordan," she says, totally unaffected by his charms whatsoever.

Stefan and Elena stifle their laughs as they look at Damon's perplexed face. Damon, however quickly regains his usual smirking face, and he glares at Elena and Stefan.

Jordan sticks her hand out for Stefan to shake, "Hello...," she implies for Stefan to says his name.

"Stefan,"

She smiles before talking again, "Hello Stefan, I'm Jordan and I think you're the boyfriend, because of your brother who just flirted with me," she says, and this time Elena doesn't hold back her laugh. With her hand still firmly holding Stefan's she pulls him towards her, and whisper loudly enough for all to hear, "If you hurt my little sister I will snap your neck and burn your bones."

Elena groans and Stefan nods his head. He's going to like this girl, she cares deeply for Elena, is honest and not afraid to back down.

"So what are you doing this earlier in our house?"

Elena and Stefan look eyes, and Stefan can see the need to protect her sister in Elena's eyes. "She needs to know," he whispers quiet enough so only Elena can hear.

Elena sighs "Let's sit down, it's going to be a long story,"
