chapter four

Jordan leans against the hood of Jenna's car. Matt, Stefan, Elena and Jeremy are all inside the police station, being interrogated by Sheriff Forbes. Jordan would have been there with them, but Sheriff Forbes thought that with her being just back in town, she wouldn't know anything important anyway. Jordan wishes that was true. Jordan isn't specifically afraid of vampires, or other supernatural beings, she is just afraid of the harm that is bound to nestle itself in her family.

Stefan is the first to come out of the police station. His muscles are tense and wrinkles begin to form on his forehead. He looks like he's deep in thought, and that's also why he almost jumps when Jordan taps his shoulder.

"You okay?" she asks.

Stefan shrugs his shoulders. He himself doesn't exactly know is he's okay or not.

"A little birdie told me someone's is getting 162 years old," Jordan grins trying to cheer up Stefan.

Stefan groans as he buries his face in his hands. "Who told you?"

"I have my way," Jordan grins mysteriously. "It's not everyday that someone turns one-hundred and sixty two years old, are you planning on doing something?"

Stefan chuckles at how much she reminds him of his best friend Lexi. "I wasn't planning on doing anything, but my best friend came to town and she's a bit of a party animal," he says and his mind wanders to all the crazy, fun memories he has with Lexi. "Knowing Lexi, she is going to push me into something fun, but also something I'm definitely going to regret. She thinks I'm to broody,"

"She sounds fun," Jordan states excited before adding, "and Stefan, you are a bit broody sometimes, you have to just let go of your worries and enjoy the time you have with your best friend."

Stefan's muscle have relaxed throughout their conversation, and there has even sparked a little excitement inside him, "Thank you," he tells Jordan.

"Don't mention it," she smiles.

Jordan and Stefan stand next to each other peacefully for another few minutes before Jeremy, Matt and Elena come storming out the police station. You can feel the negativity radiating off of them.

"You okay Matt?" Jordan whispers.

Matt ignores her and stomps past Jordan and Stefan angrily. Jordan sighs deeply as her eyes follow Matt. He's hurting and he needs his space, but Jordan wants nothing more than to rush over to him and comfort him. Jeremy walks towards Jenna, and Elena stops in front off her and Stefan.

"Are you okay?" Stefan asks lovingly and full of concern.

Elena, however, completely avoids his question, "I don't think the Sheriff suspected anything. Jeremy had no memory at all. All he knew was what Damon made him know,"

Stefan sighs before opening his arms for Elena to hug him. Elena declines and turns to look at the ground. "I can't do this Stefan. Every time I look at Matt or Jeremy, all I think is that Vicki is never gonna come back. And they'll never know why. Around you people get hurt and people die. I can't, it's just too much,"

Jordan can see the pain and self hatred in Stefan's eyes and she instantly feels bad for him.

"Why don't we go somewhere and talk about it," he says somewhat defeated. Elena, just like Matt, needs space, but saying that around Stefan people die was a low blow of her sister. Stefan is one of the few vampires who despise hurting innocent people, and Elena telling him that that is exactly what he does hurts him. Wether Stefan likes to admit that or not.

"No Stefan," Elena says firmly, "You have to stay away from me." With that being said Elena turns around, leaving Jordan and Stefan alone.

"I'm really sorry Stef. What Elena said isn't true, you are not purposely hurting or killing anybody, you're a good person. Elena tends to act before she thinks, but I know she loves you and you love her. Just give it a little time," Jordan assures Stefan.

"Go find Lexi, and celebrate your birthday."

Grumbling Jordan opens the front door. "You could've waited you knew," she grumbles, annoyed that they left without Jordan so she had to walk home.

"Sorry," Jenna says sheepishly.

"It doesn't matter," Jordan says while she hangs her jacket.

Jenna and Elena are moping around about their boyfriends and ex-boyfriends. Jordan rolls her eyes at Elena and she tells her sister to suck it up because Stefan loves her dearly.

Before Elena can go into discussion Jeremy speaks up, "Can you keep it down? I'm doing homework."

"Homework?" Jenna says surprised, "Since when do you do homework?"

Jeremy shrugs his shoulders like it's the most normal thing to do, and Jordan can't help but let a chuckle escape her lips. Damon's compulsion is better than she hoped.

Elena and Jenna are still talking about Jeremy when they hear the front door shut.

"Was that Jordan?" Jenna asks.

Elena nods before sighing. Even though her sister might act like she is though and noting faces her, their parents death has changed her. Jordan has become for introvert and often doesn't tell Elena where she's going. Usually Elena wouldn't be as worried, but with their new found information about vampires she isn't so sure anymore. Elena just wishes Jordan will tell her the whole truth about her trip in London, because she knows that something happened to her sister.

Damon lets his phone ring three times before he finally gets up to talk to the person who wants to talk to him so badly.

He pours himself a drink as he answers his phone without looking at the caller id, "If I were you I would've a really good reason as to way you are interrupting my free time."

"I want you to train me," Jordan says from the other side causing Damon to almost choke on his drink.

"You want me to what? I need you to speak a little louder sweetheart, I don't think I heard you correctly," He knows exactly what Jordan said, but he can't quite believe she wants him to teach her how to defend herself.

"You heard me perfectly, but for your sake I'll repeat myself. I want you to train me."

"And why would I do that?"

"Because I asked you nicely."

"Yeah, it doesn't work that way," Damon says even though he knows he is going to help her no matter what Jordan would ask.

"Damon, please," Jordan pleads.

The way she says his name makes his thoughts run wild and he swallows loudly before giving in. "Fine, but you owe me. Meet me in the woods in half a hour," he says and immediately hangs up. He needs a drink, a stronger one than he usual has.

Jordan grins when Damon ends their phone call. Finally she can learn how to fight. She has this urge ever since she came back from London that something bad is going to happen. And for that bad Jordan needs to be prepared, she can't be the naive little girl anymore. Her priorities are her friends and family, and in order to protect her friend and family she needs to learn how to fight off supernatural creatures. What better way than to practice with a vampire itself?

Jordan decides to walk her way to the edge of the forest. She meant to asks Damon where to meet, but knowing him he has probably figured out how to find her already.

With feathery steps Jordan makes her way to the forest, all the while thinking about her time in London. Or trying to.

She doesn't remember her time in London. From the moment she arrived to short before she left everything is blurry. The only thing she knows is that she needs to learn how to protect herself from vampires. The constant burning of fighting and survival runs through her veins, but she doesn't know why. In all honesty, Jordan is scared. She is terrified because she now knows that her unknown memories of her time in London have almost positively something to do with a vampires compulsion.

Jordan sighs while cracking her brain. She needs to remember, but the more she tries to do so, the more her memories float away from her.

A twig snapping nearby is what takes Jordan out of her daydream. "Damon? Is that you?"

If it is Damon he doesn't answer her calls. Trying to be bold Jordan follows to where she thinks the snap of a twig came from.

Within minutes Jordan is lost. Everything looks the same, and she is certain is walking in circles. She can't determine where she has already walked. The ground is wet and muddy, and her footprints disappear immediately after she lifts her foot.

"This isn't funny Damon!" she yells into the void.

A gust of wind passes her and she shrieks loudly. Her heart is pounding in her throat and her inhales of breath are sharp. Damn him, I should've asked Stefan. Jordan thinks as she regrets her decision of calling Damon, because Damon being Damon makes her serious request of being trained into an entertaining game for his own benefit.

Without thinking twice Jordan breaks a branch of the tree closest to her and holds it up, ready to stake through someone's heart.

It's just Damon, only Damon. There is no reason to actually be afraid. Jordan clams herself down. "Game's over Damon, you can come out now."

Another gust of wind passes Jordan, and in an instant she is pinned against a tree with her branch —that means to be a stake— thrown 9 feet away from her. Jordan's breathing quickens, and Damon smirks once he can hear her heart beat louder. "You've got a lot to learn," he says and releases Jordan's arms.

"No shit Sherlock," Jordan sasses, "That's why I came to you."

"Rule number one," Damon says choosing to ignore Jordan's comment, "Never let your guard down."

"What do you-"

Jordan groans loudly once Damon sweeps her off her feet, and she falls on the ground with a loud thud. "What was that?" Jordan exclaims. She ruffles leaves out of her as she angrily stares at Damon.

"That," he grins, "was rule number one."

"Asshole," Jordan mutters.

"Come on, don't be a pouty."

Jordan stands up and she firmly plants her feet into the ground, she doesn't want to repeat what just happened. Her hands for, into fists and she holds them up, securely protecting her face.

"Just so you know, I'm not going to hold back. You want to learn how to fight and defend yourself? We're doing it my way."
Jordan nods.

"Okay then sweetheart, show me what you've got."
