The new two weeks meant a new choreography. Sky added even more complex elements to it than the first one, and she did it because she knew the guys could handle it. This time, she didn't have two weeks for it, but Park Jinyoung stopped her in the hallway and said that this time she had three weeks, and he wanted it to be more complicated than the one before, and maybe even a smaller part that the guys would create themselves.
Sky listened to him. She created a more complex choreography and left half a minute in the middle for the guys to create their own. Jaebeom and Mark immediately got into it, and Jackson even chatted a bit with them.
She was surprised when they started training. It had been four days since they began learning the new choreography, and Jackson had been there from the beginning to the end of every training session. He even seemed to listen to every word she said and appeared to pay attention even when she was explaining something to just one of them. He genuinely wanted to improve, and Sky was pleased with that.
"On the fourth day, and you guys are already like pros," Sky praised them. "And you, Youngjae," she pointed at the brunette who stood next to Yugyeom, chatting about something, "you surprised me the most. Even without my help, you're handling the most challenging steps as if you've been doing them every day."
"That's because I have the best trainer," Youngjae smiled.
"You," Sky waved her hands, "you're making me blush."
Youngjae and the others laughed. Except for Jackson, who just sat there and observed the rest.
"Before you scatter, I'd like to commend you because your thirty-second choreography is absolutely amazing," she told them, "I didn't expect something like this from you. I expected something lighter because you've never created choreography before, but you all put your heads together and created thirty seconds of something incredible. Should I be afraid you'll steal my job?"
"Don't worry, we would never do that," Jinyoung smiled, "if you don't interfere with our work, we won't interfere with yours."
"Maybe I should start singing, huh? What do you think? Have you ever heard me sing? I think I have talent," Sky laughed. She wouldn't say she couldn't sing – she had the talent to recognize rhythm and melody, knew the notes, and probably wouldn't sing off-key, but she had never sung in front of anyone. Sometimes she sang to herself at home in the shower, while cooking, while getting dressed. Just that kind of humming that people do when they live alone. But she had never sung a whole song in front of anyone.
"You seem to be in a good mood today," Jaebeom laughed as he walked past her, telling Jinyoung and Mark that they should go because they still had an English class, and Mark had Korean.
"That's because you guys were amazing today, and I didn't have to raise my voice," Sky explained to him. She really was in a good mood, mainly because she didn't have to yell. She was proud that the guys were getting better and better every day because it meant that soon they would get a debut date, and she would witness the birth of an amazing group.
They complimented each other for a while longer before the rest of them left. Sky was alone again, which she took advantage of and started training her choreography again. She hadn't trained for six days because of her knees, as Youngjae would have killed her otherwise, but her knees were healing. They no longer hurt when she walked, so she decided to continue.
"You're just hurting yourself like this," a voice behind her said when she got up after about the tenth fall on her knees. She was still struggling with that step. She was a little startled when she heard the voice because it didn't sound like Brian or Youngjae, who were usually here to train.
Surprisingly, she saw the brunette when she looked in the mirror.
"As if you cared," Sky told him and stood up. It was difficult because after so many falls, her knees hurt again, and they were starting to bleed.
"Don't make me out to be a heartless idiot," Jackson walked over to her. "Maybe I don't show it, but I care. I used to train as hard as you once, and my legs were in a similar state. But you have to realize that you're just ruining your health, and someday, it will catch up with you if you continue like this."
"Why are you here, Jackson? Do you want to make fun of me? Do you want to pretend to be the good guy here and then ignore me again?" she asked him.
"You're doing the same thing now," he told her, "you were playing the friend on the roof and then ignored me and didn't even look at me. So don't blame me when you're just like me. And for your information, no. I'm not here for that. I'm here to ask you if you'll dance with me."
"What?"
"Will you dance with me?" he asked again.
"Like a slow dance, or what the hell do you mean?" Sky laughed.
"I mean, will you fucking explain some of the steps to me because they're giving me a hard time, and this time, I want to show Park Jinyoung that I'm not the worst in the group," he explained. Sky stood there frozen. She didn't expect Jackson to approach her so soon – she didn't expect it at all.
"Sure, that's why I'm here," she smiled at him. "Which steps are giving you trouble?" she asked him.
Jackson told her about every step he couldn't handle. Sky listened carefully and tried to explain everything to him. They repeated the steps several times because he was really having trouble with them. She couldn't imagine what problems he must have had with the previous choreography when he tried to learn it on his own.
"I apologize," Sky said when they took a short break because they had been training for over two hours. Jackson looked at her in confusion. "I apologize for everything. On the roof, you didn't even look at me, and I thought I had somehow upset you. I told myself that I would talk to you only if you spoke to me first. So I apologize, and if it's possible, what if we start all over again. Friends?" She extended her hand to him.
"Apology accepted. Friends," he shook her hand. "And I apologize too. Maybe I didn't make a good first impression."
"You didn't, but it's okay," Sky smiled.
"I must have looked like a complete idiot."
"Maybe just a little," Sky raised her hand and tried to bring her thumb and index finger as close together as possible.
"You're terrible," Jackson laughed and playfully pushed Sky. She also laughed when she saw his reaction. Youngjae was right. Jackson definitely wasn't what he presented himself to be at the beginning. He wasn't some stubborn jerk who only cared about himself. Sure, he was stubborn, but he was genuinely nice – at least for now. Everything can change at any moment.
POV BAMBAM
BamBam and Yugyeom hung around in JYP. They both had a rap class, and afterward, they were trying to write some lyrics because they wanted to become producers for the group someday.
The clock showed just past eleven in the evening, but their studio still echoed with music. The same music they trained to, and the music they listened to for hours every day, until it drove them crazy, and they heard it even in their dreams.
"Did someone stay behind?" Yugyeom asked. They both stopped in front of the door and looked at each other.
"I don't think so. We were the last ones to leave, and everyone else was long gone. It could only be Sky, but she's practicing her choreography, so I don't know why she would be playing our music," BamBam shrugged.
Yugyeom couldn't resist and slowly opened the door just enough to see inside.
BamBam and Yugyeom exchanged looks when they spotted Sky and Jackson inside. Sky was explaining a complicated step to him. But what surprised them the most were the smiles on their faces – they looked happy. BamBam didn't expect to see Jackson look like this in Sky's presence, but he saw it.
"I didn't expect this," Yugyeom commented.
"Do you think I did?" BamBam looked at him.
"Did he finally got some sense?"
"Most likely," BamBam nodded. He extended his hand, and Yugyeom gave him a high-five.
