"Hey sweetie, I'm coming!"someone said through the landline since a certain idiot has mine.

I recognized that voice almost instantly and jumped up and down, excited. To say that I was excited was an understatement.

And before I could have said anything, he disconnected the call. Yeah, real nice, jerk-face. 

And here I am, jumping because he's coming. Just whatever, he didn't deserve any respect from me.

Kody eventually calmed me down and I looked at her with wide eyes and said, "He's coming!"

So after that, she screamed frantically, it would work if I described it more as wildly.

He's been her crush since we were in the second grade, I don't even know how Kody likes him, he is really annoying to me.

"Did he tell you when he was coming?" Kody asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice.

"No, the idiot just told me that he was coming and well, that's it. He just end the call after that," I said shrugging.

"We should do something for him! How about we give a surprise party and call all his friends that are here. What do you think Kylie?"

"No way! Not after he just cut the call while I was talking to him! I'm gonna teach him a lesson for doing that," I replied grinning widely at my evil thoughts.

"Oh no, I know that look, what are you thinking about Kylie?"

"I don't have to do anything. We can give him the party you think he deserves and I'll just be my own normal, annoying old self. I'm pretty sure he'd be terrified," I replied raising my eyebrows twice and giving her a smug look.

"Sweet Jesus, I feel for him," she told me shaking her head lightly. I sent her one of my worst death glares and she gulped.

"Of course you feel for your own crush," I cooed.

"My what?" she asked, her eyes about to pop out of her thick skull.

"Umm, your crush," I said rolling my eyes at her stupidity.

She became tomato red after and threw the closest pillow at me. Luckily I ducked at the right time and missed it.

"Why do you think I always get chosen as captain for dodgeball? Anyways, just admit it, we both know you like him. So why hide it?"

She blushed a little more and then said, "Fine, I really like him and yeah he's my crush."

"Ha! I knew it," I said pleased with my victory at the debate.

"So, now can you tell me what you were thinking of?"

"Are you somewhat insane?" I asked raising my eyebrow.

"Now what did I do?"

"You idiot, I told you," I said giving her an unimpressed look.

"That's your plan?" she asked her jaw dropped open as she raised an eyebrow at me.

"What?" I asked.

"And I'm an idiot," she muttered.

"What? Are you admitting that I'm not annoying?" I challenged.

"Wha- No! You are annoying. Nothing changes that. Nothing," she said.

"I'm offended, sweetheart," I said dramatically and placed one hand on my chest dramatically.

She waved me off, a smile threatening to come upon her face. It was clear that she fought against the urge and kept a straight face at me. She failed miserably and we both burst out laughing at the same time.

She was my best friend and I was more than just happy to have her in my life.

Out of the blue, I threw my arms around her and pulled her close.

"Kylie, are you alright?" she asked, concern evident on her face. Oh, what did I do to deserve her?

"No, I'm not," I admitted, scratching my neck awkwardly.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"I miss her," I declared.

She didn't say anything but wrapped me up in a long, long hug. I really needed that and it seemed to me that Kody knew me better than I did myself too.

She would know when I really missed my mom and I really needed someone around to tell me it would be fine.

On other days when I wouldn't have someone around, I would usually break and cry for hours. 

She rubbed my back soothingly. "I hope you know that it'll be alright," she whispered.

"I know. But I hope that happens soon," I mumbled.

"Hey! Isn't he coming though? Aren't things turning up a bit?" she asked, trying to cheer me up.

"You're right," I said.

"Don't look into the negative much," she said, a warm smile on her face.

I'm trying Kody. I really am.
