Girls Just Wanna Run

All the guys were off their phones. Wolf was allowing his canines to sparkle in the gap his lips left. Jacin sat next to a wall, trying to stay calm as he reran the his talk with Winter in his mind. The tops of Kai's ears were crimson. Thorne was laying out a script of his next conversation with Cress in his head.

The anxiety that lingered between them was unbearable. It had been mere minutes since they last spoke to the group barricaded in the old classroom. None of the guys wished to wait for them to leave that room any longer.

Without warning, the metal door creaked open. A girl with blood red hair dashed out to the left. "Scarlet!" Wolf cried. He then broke into a run to go after her. Next, a dark haired female slipped away. But not before Jacin noticed and kicked up the dust in her wake. Kai looked back to the door. Cinder was going to come out of there. She had to.

Just as he mentally recited the assumption, she sprinted down the hall in the opposite direction. Thorne was the only one that remained near the door. He cautiously pushed the door open all the way. Inside, he spotted Cress sitting at a desk with a laptop on it. Her fingers stretched with speed as she typed out an incalculable amount of characters. "Cress," he began to stroll into the room. He was forced to halt when a second metal door slid out of the wall, and whacked him in the face.

....................

Everything is going according to plan. Scarlet had led Wolf way from the others. Now, all she had to do, was let him catch her.

The plan that she and the others made before leaving was to ran out of the room, let the person chasing them "capture" them, and spend some time alone. Cress was the only one who opposed the plan. But the others were eager to see the guys again.

Wolf came closer to her with every stride. Scarlet could practically see them together again now. Him clinging to her in heart felt embrace. Feeling his warmth radiate of him and his body being drawn to her own. Her desire for these day dreams to become reality expanded as he neared. She was almost within his reach. Her heart was pounding, soaring, squeezing, and healing all at once.

An eternity past, and he finally caught up to her. He stopped her in the most romantic way. With one arm under her shoulder blades and another beneath her knees. He scooped her into the air with triumph. She squealed as if shaken by this action. "You said," Wolf's smile was enough to melt her. "You were going to come out and see me."

"I never said I wouldn't make a break for it first," She giggled. "Can you put me down now?"

"If you're going to run again, no," He pressed his head to hers. "Promise me you'll stay."

"Okay," Scarlet pecked him on the cheek. He flushed with color. "I promise I'll stay."

He hesitantly placed her feet on the floor. His hands met at her waist. Eyes trained on her face as his teeth glistened in the dim hallway. "Why do you like running from me so much?"

"I don't. I like running in general."

"Well, could you stop running from me?"

"I guess," with a fake sigh. "We've known each other for less than an hour and you're already so demanding."

"It's hard not to be when you're as weird as I am."

"You're not weird," Scarlet brought her hand to his cheek. He bent into her touch. "You're just ... unique. I think your more handsome like that."

Scarlet felt warmth creep into his cheek. He was handsome. He is handsome. Wrapping her arms around his neck, tinges of glee embedded themselves into her soul. His grip on her tightened. She wanted this to last for as long as time would allow. One of his hands rose to the back of her head. Riddling his fingers in her ginger locks. "You don't look so bad yourself."

"I'd hope not."

They let out a roar of laughter. This was truly a perfect moment. After unclasping her eyelids, her gazed traveled back to Wolf. She loved it when he was happy. The way his face brightened. How his eyes shined with a light more vibrant than any star.

His hand forced her head closer to him. Her heart rate quickened. Hope Levana doesn't ruin this one too. Wolf's lips clung to Scarlet. Her eye sealed like the door to 'The Satellite'. Her heart burst with joy and affection. This was a moment she believed she would never have. Falling in love with someone was not something Scarlet would imagine herself doing.

He broke away, only to start pressing his lips on her cheek. They drifted to her jaw line. She fought the massive urge to push him back. Her neck was now being coated with the heat from Ze'ev's mouth. Once he paused, his breath rushed against her skin. The clash of her warm skin and his cool huff sent a shudder through her bones.

Suppressing the whimpers bubbling up her throat, she managed to speak. "How are you not dating someone already?" How could someone not want him? He was such a wonderful person. Sensitive, sweet, cute, charming, and just overall, practically perfect in every way.

"No one is as understanding, kind, forgiving, or as heavenly as you, Scarlet." Her skin became her name. A chuckle emerged from his vocal cords. His smile grew at least twice its original size. In response, Scarlet decreased the distance between her lips and his head. She nipped at his ear, sure that this would shut him up.

It seemed to short a time before she could relate to Jacin. Wolf's phone went off and she backed away. He still had his left arm gripping torso. He pulled out his phone with a scowl. "I'm so sorry, Scar."

It's fine, she mouthed. He was off the phone in about thirty seconds, not that she had counted. "That was Thorne. Your friend, Cress I think, locked herself back in that room you were all in."

"What?!" Damn it, Cress! No wonder she 'caved in'. She knew she could shut the door again.

"Thorne wants me to come to help open the door," he clearly didn't want to go.

"I can help," she blurted. "I might know another way in. Or, I could get her to come out on her own."

"Then I guess you should come with me to help," he rose his arm to rest on around her neck. Scarlet let her arms become magnetized to his back and chest. As they walked to meet Thorne, she realized, this big bad wolf, wasn't that bad at all.

(Winter and Jacin's chase scene)

Winter darted down every hall, every short cut, and every staircase in the entire facility before Jacin was able to make her yield. Securing his arms on her midsection and lifting her off the ground was an effective way to get her to stay still. "Whoa there, Trouble. You can stop trying to run now. I got you."

"Who said I wanted to get caught?" She did. A plan she made for her and her friends that was crazy enough to insure success. To run from the men they liked and let themselves be chased until they ran out of breath.

"You've run from me twice in one night. That's a record that doesn't need to be broken."

"Says you," Winter was always a cryptic person. But now, even she couldn't comprehend the words escaping her mouth. "Maybe I'll run again. You never know what crazy idea I'll get next."

"In that case, I guess I shouldn't let you go. Don't want you going to another country trying to get rid of me, now do we?"

"No," now she could stop pretending to resist him. "I'd rather stay with you."

"Good. That's another thing we have in common," He was still holding her high in the air. She struggled, not to leave his grasp, but to plant her feet on the earth again.

"Can I come down now?"

"Okay. But if you try to run, I can't say that I'll come after you for a third time." He let her down easy. Still clinging to her as she relaxed her heels to the floor.

"Once again, I doubt that."

"How do you know when I'm lying?"

"I don't," She let her smile transform into a devilish grin. She adored the way he believed he could trick her. The fact that he tried again and again to do so left her this way. "I just know that you like me too much for that to be true."

"What makes you think I like you that much?"

"Because I feel the same way about you," Jacin's face looked as if he'd gotten a terrible sunburn. Winter allowed her head to lie on his shoulder. The space she had between his arms and her shrank a great deal. Curling her fingers to encircle his neck, she bent into him to kiss his cheek. He must have seen this and he veered his head so that her lips landed on his. Ugh, he just has to ruin everything.

They stood there for what seemed like hours just letting themselves love each other. Jacin held her so close to him that Winter felt like he was trying to absorb her.

Whenever she was with him, she felt normal. Not like an outcast girl with mental issues. But like a regular person who was in a ... weird relationship with a guy ... that she just met today. So she could never have a completely ordinary life. That had no affect on whether she had a happy of meaningful one. Maybe Jacin would make her life a bit more joyous and less depressing. After all, he aided her when Sybil was done harassing her. He might be kind to her and help her at least feel normal.

He pulled away and his face was even more flushed than it was before they kissed. He began to laugh hysterically when he saw her. Winter guessed it was because she too was red. His laughter was infectious, causing her to join him.

As their voices died down, Jacin started to bring Winter in for another go. She had no way to resist him and his charms. They closed in, and just as they were about to kiss again, history repeated itself. Jacin's phone rang out and his elation morphed into anger. She reached into his pocket and gave Jacin his phone. "Answer it."

Jacin grabbed his phone and did as she said. "Hello?" A minute later he groaned, "Fine. See you there." He slid his phone back into his pocket. "Thorne just called. He said he needs me to help him get your friend out of a locked room."

Winter knew he was talking about Cress. She broke from his grasp. "Damn it, Cress! She just had to stay in there. Nope! Don't listen to Winter! Don't even at least try to get to know the guy who has a massive crush on you! Why should you listen to Winter?!" She turned back to Jacin, who had confusion written all over him. He stood, paralyzed with some sort of diluted fear. Soon enough, his expression softened and he doubled over in laughter. "What? What's so funny?"

He tried to straighten up, but as soon as he saw her, is laughter won out. She crossed her arms and threw on an aggravated scowl. "Well?" He silenced himself and stood up.

"I get it now," smiling like he couldn't do anything else. "The first time you ran, you were all afraid. But the second time, was to get us to chase you. You planned to run the second time!"

"That's absurd," How did he figure that out? Stars, he's smart.

"That's why you'd be the one to think of a plan like that."

Is he mocking me? Now she was the one who was mad. She began to stomp down the way she came. Jacin took her hand and yanked her back into his embrace. "Hey. I have to got help Thorne. You should come to help your friend." Winter groaned. She knew he was right. "Come on. I really want you to come with me." She planted her feet to the ground, refusing to move. But Jacin was persistent. He pressed his lips to her neck. They crept upwards to her ear. Winter caved after about twenty seconds of his romantic battle strategy.

"Okay," she pushed him off her so she could think properly. "I'll come. But no one needs to know about the ...."

"I can't promise that, Trouble." Then, his left one arm on her waist and began to drag her back to where Thorne and Cress were.
