Naomi
When July 20th came, I was so nervous and I kept bouncing my left leg up and down super fast. It's a bad, nervous habit I have. The plane ride was coming to a close as I put my headphones into my traveling bag.
I got off the plane and walked toward the terminal, especially Terminal 5 where Erik will be. I'm so excited and nervous...nervcited. I'm calling it nervcited.
I found a man with a sign with my name on it. He took me towards the Terminal where I saw 4 boys and 3 girls. I must've been the last flight, hope I didn't keep anyone waiting. My bag wasn't a carry-on so I had to wait for the conveyer belt which was-thankfully-Terminal 5. An Asian woman who looked to be in her 30's with dark brown hair pulled into the tightest and cleanest bun I've ever seen walked over to me after finishing a conversation on her cell phone.
"Hello, you must me Naomi. Pleased to meet you. I am Cheryl Ma, Erik's manager and we are happy to have you here," she said with a smile and shook my hand with strength. "Well, I'm happy to be here and to be chosen," I replied. Oh my god, that was so stupid of you to say, I thought. Well, whatever my bags here, thank God.
After retrieving my bag from the conveyer belt, we piled into a black van. I sat in the back next to the window and a dirty blonde haired girl with fair skin and brown eyes. The entire ride to the studio was silent but I didn't mind because I got to stare at the beautiful sights of California. There were so many palm trees and many mountains and many cities and many buildings and...just so many beautiful aspects of this beautiful state.
The van stopped at one dance studio building in one of the smaller cities. We all received our bags and went through the glass doors. Inside was a dance studio with a mirror on one wall and drawings of dancers on the other. We walked up the stairs to find out that we'll be staying here as well. The second floor had a communal area with three couches all facing a large TV, as well as having a kitchen area with a round wood table.
"Sit on one of the couches," Cheryl ordered. I plopped on the couch facing the TV and everyone else followed. "Each of you is assigned a roommate and a room. I would sleep tonight because we will get started tomorrow. Today will be a..." She was trying to think of a word to say then snapped her fingers saying, "Team bonding day before we get to the dancing. Okay?" We all nodded in response.
"Great." She pulled out her clipboard from the kitchen table. "The room assignments are: Room 1 will house Vincent and Darius. Erik and Mitchell will be in Room 2. As for the girls, Naomi and Emilia will be in Room 3 and Amanda and Ann-Isabelle will be residing in Room 4. Everyone got it?" We nodded our heads in acknowledgment again.
I picked up my bags and headed toward Room 3 which was right across from Room 1. In the white and black room, there were two beds with no sheets on them and in the middle of the beds was a dresser. There was a full length mirror which was used as a door for a closet and a small chair in the corner of the room.
I put my bags on the bed closest to the window. As I was getting out my comforter and sheets, a girl with long brown hair and tan skin came into the room. She was struggling with her bags a little as she let go of them when she came into the room. The bags clunked together and fell in a pile. The girl sighed and used the post for support.
I decided to go over there and help her and to introduce myself. "Do you need some help?" I asked her. She huffed and gave me a look, that kind of look that someone mean gives you when you're in their way. "I can handle it," she replied sassily as she gripped the handle and hoisted the biggest bag onto the bed. "Okayyy," I said, turning around and walking away in defeat.
I then continue my original plan of making my bed. After, I'm done putting the blanket on, I look over my should at Emilia who looked like she was having a hard time trying to pull the fitted sheet on the mattress. I wanted to try one more time to be nice was a slowly walked over and said, "You have to get the corner all the way under to not let it-" She turned around exasperately, whipping my face with her hair saying, "Oh my god, I don't need you over my shoulder telling me what to do!"
I raised my hands in defense as I backed away to my side of the bed. I guess she doesn't want to have friends for two weeks, I thought as I started to put clothes in the dresser. After that, I just stood there, contemplating in my head whether I should stay in my room or go into the living room area. I stuck my head out of the door to look and see if anyone was there and sure enough, two guys and two girls were sitting on two couches talking.
I wish I had a nice roommate who I can talk to, I thought as I looked over at Emilia who was almost done making her bed. I walked out into the hallway to the other kids, playing with my hands. I sat on the couch that was next to one of the boys who had blonde hair and a mole.
"And this chick came up to me, and deadass dumped me right after I performed one of my favorite solos and we never talked again," the blonde haired boy spoke. "That's terrible. Dance girls are wack." The other boy with dark skin and hair that stuck out leaned over to speak to me, "No offense." I replied back with a, "None taken...I guess."
Emilia came out and plopped onto a single chair as she whipped her phone out of her back pocket. As soon as she sat down, Cheryl Ma came into the room.
