You Can't...
I'm pretty sure I've already posted a one shot today but who cares
I needed to write something and I want to post it now
TW: Depression and suicidal thoughts.
Depression.
Sadness.
Recession.
Anger.
Fear.
Darkness.
Unclear.
Fading.
Depression is hands grabbing at your neck.
Scratching at your arms.
Messing with your head.
Depression is drowning in a big, deep sea.
A bottomless blackness.
It's just dark you see.
Sadness is screaming inside your own head.
Fighting to escape.
But only reaching a dead end.
Sadness is a shadow.
Watching you all the time.
It always lingers and never will it go.
Dan was a victim.
A sufferer indeed.
He was alone, it was just him.
He was drowning.
Phil watched over Dan.
He was meant to be a savour.
He was there to hold his hand.
And guide him through the dark.
It was accurate to say Phil was a flash light.
Lighting up Dan's path.
He led him through the dark night.
And was his shoulder to cry on.
"I can't do this." Dan would cry.
Phil would softly smile.
"You really don't want to die."
"I do, Phil. I really do."
"I hate my life.
It's the worst.
All I need is a single knife.
And it will all go away."
Phil shook his head.
Holding out his hand.
"You can't do much when you're dead..
Listen to me."
Dan shrugged, tears in his eyes.
"There's nothing I want to do."
"I'll give you reasons why
You should live." Phil smiled.
"If you're dead, you can't smile.
You can't sing, you can't grin.
You can't go the extra mile.
You can't spread happiness."
"You can't meet your favourite celebrity.
You can't be ambitious.
You can't speak to me!
You can't even watch YouTube videos!"
"You can't use the internet.
You can't eat pizza.
You can't think of the time we met.
You can't love anyone."
Dan was unknowingly crying.
His hazel eyes were wet.
"I'm not lying."
Dan nodded because he knew.
"I can't do anything if I was dead."
"You can't. So why would you want to die?"
"I have a lot running through my head."
"Come here, Bear..."
Phil opened his arms and Dan ran forward.
He buried his head into Phil's neck.
The position was kind of awkward.
But neither really minded.
"I have one last thing to say."
Phil mumbled, bringing his hand through Dan's soft hair.
"I'm sure it will change your whole day...
If you aren't alive you cannot do this.."
Phil leaned closer to his best friend.
His breath hitched.
He wasn't sure if it was enough for Dan to mend.
But he lent in and then they kissed.
Do any of you suffer with depression or anything like that?? You don't have to say but, just know, I'm always here for you.
