It's You
Could you all do me a massive favour and check out my book Adrenaline? Thanks ^-^
Dan nervously looked down at his phone before looking back out of the window. Rain was pouring down outside, leaving small droplets to fall down the glass. Dan was so bored that he observed two drops falling at a similar rate and silently debated which would win. The one on the left managed to take the lead towards the end.
The train was fairly empty other than Dan and an old guy reading a newspaper. Dan was just texting his friend and watching the wildlife outside. It was about another half an hour before the outside trees became city.
Morning was looming closer as light laid over the city. It was around eight in the morning as Dan wanted to spend the whole day with Phil, that meant getting up extremely early. He didn't mind because it was for Phil. Dan was intrigued with everything he was seeing: he had never been to Manchester before. His phone dinged with a new message and he quickly read it.
You nearly here? I'm at the station ^-^
He smiled but his heart was racing inside. He was ecstatic to finally meet his friend but, at the same time, he was freaking out. What if he hated who he was in real life?
His eccentric thoughts were cut off as the train pulled into the station. Dan found himself shaking and suddenly he didn't want to meet his friend. He really didn't. He fumbled around for his phone, ready to make up some excuse for not showing up before realising that this could be his only chance.
He held his breath, picked up his rucksack, threw it over his shoulder and walked to the doors. He closed his eyes before stepping out of the train.
His eyes fluttered open as he heard a small gasp. He made eye contact with his best friend for the first time in real life. "It's you. It's actually you." Phil gasped, running forward and wrapping his arms around Dan so tightly because he never wanted to let him go.
"And it's you. It's actually you." Dan could feel tears filling his eyes as he buried his head into his friend's shoulder. He was finally in the presence of the man who saved his life.
It was too much. It was all too much. Dan was feeling too many emotions at the same time: happiness, sadness, fear, love. "I'll be right back." He mumbled, lightly pushing Phil away from him and practically running down the path to the train toilets.
Admittedly, they were disgusting. Of course they were; they were public toilets.. they weren't meant to be clean. But Dan needed to take a breath. He needed a moment to run everything through his brain.
He made eye contact with himself in the fairly dirty mirror and saw the tears in form in his eyes. A couple of them couldn't help but slip, followed by many more. He didn't want Phil to hate him so he couldn't go outside looking like that. He was a wreck. He was always a wreck.
"Dan, you okay?" Phil mumbled as Dan watched him push the toilet door open and walk in.
"I'm sorry.. I'm ruining this." Dan half heartedly chuckled, roughly rubbing his eyes with his fists in hopes of making the tears disappear.
"You're not ruining this, love, it's okay. I love you and you crying isn't going to change anything. I'm going to make this day amazing for you, okay? I'll make sure you never forget it and, if you're ever sad, remember this day, please?"
"I love you, Phil. So much.. I don't deserve you." Dan murmured so Phil enveloped him into another heart-warming hug.
"Yes you do. You really do. Now come on, you're about to have the day of your life."
Part 2 coming soon! :)
