*SPOOKY WEEK SPECIAL* Horror Film ↣ Phil

SPOOKY WEEK SPECIAL 1/7

"(Y/N)...Phil..." Dan says rather dramatically, looking from you to Phil. "Are you ready...for the scariest film of all time?"

The three of you are sat on the couch in the lounge, covered by blankets and surrounded by various snacks. You, then Phil, then Dan. Most of the lights in the flat are turned off, save for the lamp in the corner. The clock reads an hour till midnight.

"Yes!" Phil says, nodding with a determined look on his face.

"Yes?" You say, with much less conviction than Phil.

"Was that a question or an answer?" Dan asks.

"An answer?" You question.

Dan rolls his eyes and turns on the TV.

Your stomach churns as you wait for the movie to load.

Phil leans down to your ear, and you startle a little.

"You're not scared, are you?" He asks quietly.

You look around the pitch black room with wide eyes, the only light coming from the television.

"N-No," you shake your head.

You shift closer to Phil ever so slightly and wrap yourself up tighter in the blanket.

Phil laughs a little. "You're scared..." He teases.

"I am not," you wave him off.

"Don't be," Phil says, gentleness in his voice. "It won't be that scary."

"What?" Dan asks sarcastically, a grin spreading across his face. "(Y/N)'s scared?!"

"Shut up!" You force a laugh and throw a pillow at Dan.

Dan laughs as he tries to dodge the pillow. He fails, and the pillow hits him square in the face. You and Phil laugh.

Dan looks at you, unamused. "Just for that (Y/N), I'm gonna turn all the lights out."

"Dan, no!" You protest.

"Too late!" Dan jumps up and all too happily turns the lamp off in the corner.

Your eyes widen as a shiver runs down your spine as the entire lounge goes pitch black.

You don't like the dark.

Your heart starts to race, but you remind yourself that it's just a movie, all in good fun.

It's fun to be scared sometimes.

You try to relax, slouching back onto the couch and cuddling up in the blanket.

"AH!" Dan suddenly shouts, just as you begin to calm down.

You scream at the top of your lungs and practically dive into Phil's lap, clutching onto the blanket and his arm for dear life.

"Dan!" You exclaim, your breathing heavy. "What was that for?!"

Dan is doubled over in laughter. "Oh my God, (Y/N)!" He says between laughs. "I should of filmed that!"

Phil laughs too and wraps his arms around you. "Hey, don't scare (Y/N)! If she's scared, she jumps on me!"

"That's not necessarily a bad thing, is it?" Dan raises his eyebrow and smirks.

"Dan!" You and Phil exclaim simultaneously. The two of you both pick up pillows and chuck them at Dan.

"Ow!" Dan shields his head with his arms cowers away from the two of you. "Can we just start the movie already?! I'm tired of being attacked!"

"Fine," you mock a pout and awkwardly get off of Phil.

You slouch back into a crease in the sofa and snuggle up in the blanket again.

This time, underneath the blanket, Phil holds your hand.

"It's just The Conjuring," Dan shrugs and smiles mischievously. "It can't be that scary..."

✦~✦~✦~✦

Everything in the movie scares you.

Everything. No exaggeration. Everything.

The very first scene scares you.

The creepy possessed doll scares you.

The picture frames falling off of the way scares you.

The boy in the reflection of the music box scares you.

The girl falling through the floor scares you.

Even the discreet, creepy scenes that don't even have any jumpscares in them scare you.

Your body stiffens with fright, and you grit your teeth whenever you feel something scary is about to happen. Every time there's a jumpscare, you shriek and hide your face in Phil's shoulder.

Eventually, the movie ends, and the three of you sit in silence for a good minute and a half.

"Well," Dan clicks his tongue. "That was..."

"Terrifying," Phil finishes.

Dan chuckles. "It was actually scary! Wow. I'm traumatized. What did you think, (Y/N)?"

You give no response.

"(Y/N)?" Dan asks again, sitting up from his sofa crease.

"Um, Dan..."

Phil pulls back the blanket to reveal you curled up in a little ball, covering your face with your hands.

Dan tries not to laugh.

"It's not funny!" You protest, reluctantly getting up into a sitting position. "That movie was terrifying!"

"It was scary, but it wasn't that scary..." Dan laughs nervously.

You and Phil glare at him.

"Ok, ok," Dan puts up his hands in defense. "You're right, it was terrifying."

"Of course I'm right," you force a laugh and throw another pillow at Dan.

"Hey! Stop that!" He yells, shielding his face with his arms.

✦~✦~✦~✦

After a while of talking, eating the rest of the snacks, and of course hitting each other with pillows, the three of you decided it's time for bed.

The sofa bed in the office was already made since they knew you were sleeping over.

You're currently curled up in a blanket, eyes squeezed shut, with frightening images from The Conjuring flashing through your mind.

You open your eyes and glance around the completely dark office. Shadows seem to be moving. Spirits seem to be waiting.

You try to calm down and shut your eyes again.

You suddenly hear a noise coming from downstairs, and your eyes shoot open. Your breathing quickens and your entire body freezes.

You can't take this anymore. You're too scared.

Without a second thought, you gather your courage and sit up, swinging your legs over the bed.

You stand up and practically sprint out of the office, down the short staircase, and down the hall.

A light shines at the end of the hallway, and you sigh from relief.

Phil's awake.

You slow to a stop at his bedroom door and take a deep breath.

"Um...Phil?" You ask sheepishly, knocking softly on the door frame. You're grateful just to see some light.

Phil, who's sitting criss-cross on his bed, looks up from his laptop.

"(Y/N)?" He questions, adjusting his glasses.

"Could I..." you look down and take a few steps into his room, just to be out of the pitch black hallway. "...talk to you for a second?"

"Sure!" Phil closes his laptop and motions for you to sit next to him on the bed.

You bite your lip and walk over to him, looking down at your feet the whole time.

"Something wrong?" Phil asks once you sit down on the bed next to him.

"Um..." All of the words you want to say seem to die at your lips. "W-Well..." You shift uncomfortably and continue to chew on your lip. You keep nervously glancing behind you at the pitch black void sitting right outside the doorway.

"(Y/N)?" Phil asks carefully.

You tear your eyes away from the dark hallway and look back up at Phil's eyes, which are sparkling behind his glasses.

"Can I..." You take a deep breath and decide it's best to just come right out and say it. "Can I sleep with you?" You ask, then immediately wince afterwards.

Phil blushes, and his blue eyes widen. "Um—"

"I-I didn't mean, like, sleep with you, like, s-sleep with you, I meant...can I get in bed with you?" Your cheeks burn with embarrassment and you cover your face with your hands. "No, that sounded worse! I mean—ugh, this is going terribly!"

You're so flustered you don't even notice Phil laughing lightly.

You let out a short, exasperated huff and start all over. "What I meant to say was that the horror film really scared me but I didn't want to admit it and the office is really dark and spooky and I would feel I lot a better if I could stay in here with you tonight and just sleep and maybe cuddle a little bit because I like you!" You rush out, all in one breath.

Phil stops laughing and a faint blush appears on his cheeks again.

"You like me?" He asks.

You bite your lip and nod miserably.

"And..." Phil smiles and shakes his head incredulously. "And you want to cuddle with me?"

"Maybe...?" You wince.

Phil laughs, the corner of his tongue picking out the side of his mouth a bit.

"Ugh, I'm sorry!" You groan and cover your face in embarrassment. "I just totally ruined our friendship, didn't I?"

"Not exactly."

You peek at Phil through your fingers.

"What d'you mean?" You ask sheepishly.

Phil simply laughs and wraps his arms lightly around you, pulling you into him.

"(Y/N), it would never ruin our relationship. In fact, it would make it better," he says. "Because I like you too."

You pull away from the hug and look up at him.

"Really?"

He nods and smiles childishly.

"And..." he bites his lip and looks down. "That movie was scary. I didn't really want to leave you alone in the office anyway."

You smile faintly as Phil puts away his laptop and turns off the light, but your eyes widen and your heart starts to race.

"Hey," Phil says gently. You look at him, but it's too dark to see, even though he's right next to you. "Don't be scared, okay?"

The two of you crawl under the duvet, and he immediately wraps his arms around you. You feel safe and warm, but still a creeping fear haunts your mind.

"There's nothing scary in this flat...except maybe me when I haven't had my coffee in the morning," Phil laughs softly, and you smile.

"Y-Yeah," you nod and snuggle closer to Phil. Both of you are lying on your sides, with your back against Phil's chest, his arm protectively around your waist, and your legs tangled together. "You're right. T-That movie wasn't real."

"It was terrifying, though."

"Not helping, Phil."

"Sorry."

You will yourself to close your eyes, but as soon as you do, you hear something that makes them shoot open.

A loud, resonating BANG that sends a shudder through your entire body.

Footsteps follow.

"P-Phil..." you whisper, your entire body frozen in fear. You feel Phil stiffen beside you.

"Y-Yeah?"

"You're hearing this too, right?"

"Yeah..."

The footsteps get louder and louder. Your heart pounds in your ears.

The two of you wait in agonizing silence as the footsteps get closer and closer. Heavier and heavier, louder as louder. You breathing gets quicker and your blood runs cold.

Suddenly the bedroom door bursts open, and both of you to sit straight up with a shriek.

You stare in horror at the distorted shadow figure standing hauntingly in the doorway. They must be six foot tall—no, even taller than that. They seem abnormally skinny and lanky. With just an outline of a shadow, you make out something curly on their head and something baggy on their legs and something sharp in their hand.

You scream.

Light floods the room, and you shield your eyes at first, but your curiosity and fear force you to open them again.

The shadow person isn't a shadow person at all—just a very confused Dan Howell with hobbit hair, pyjama pants, and the TV remote.

"Dan!" Phil exclaims, almost angrily. He rubs his eyes before grabbing his glasses from the bedside table and putting them on. "What are you doing?!"

"I was just...looking for (Y/N) after I saw the office was empty..." Dan looks at you suspiciously and blushes. "But I guess I shouldn't have looked...I can see you're...ahem...busy..."

"Dan!" You cover your face in embarrassment.

"Dan, get out!" Phil exclaims, grabbing a pillow and chucking it at Dan.

"I ship it!" Dan yells as he dodges the pillow and runs into his room.

💀FIN💀

AND SO IT BEGINS...
