No POV

In a faraway land, A boy and a girl are lying on a field that shows a village in the distance. They are laughing as they look at the differences between their village and the rest of the land. The girl smiles as she hands the flower to the boy. The boy feels warmth in his heart from the sight of this.

Girl: Big brother?

Boy: What is it Yonah?

Yonah: When will mom get back?

Boy: She said she'd be back in a few days before she left, so maybe tomorrow.

Yonah: I keep remembering her words before she left.

Boy: You act like they're the last words she's ever said. She's going to be back before ya know it.

Yonah: Can I still say them.

Boy: Okay, you can. What am I gonna do with you?

Yonah: *Giggle*. I'll be back soon. Nier, take care of your sister like she's the only thing that mattered.

Nier: *Sigh*. That is undoubtedly mom. Well soon she'll be back with a story of what and who she encountered on her journey. I bet she'll have a few frost trolls envolved in it. I don't know why I'm saying this now, but we don't exactly live in a friendly place, do we

Yonah: Yeah, Probably. But I still like it here. After all, we have friends in the village. And the Cabin is in the region.

Nier: You're right, Yonah.

 Nier and Yonah lie back on the ground and look at the clouds. Yonah then gasps as she sees something.

Nier: What is it Yonah?

Yonah: Look.

Nier points to what Yonah is looking at and sees a cloud that is shaped like a man in large armor.

Yonah: That looks like Damocles.

Nier: Yeah. Argonaut is pretty good, but in my opinion, Damocles is the best. Although I'll stop at there for now.

Yonah: He's my favorite too. By the way big brother, do you have any plans of being an adventurer? You know, going to Orario and joining a Familia?

Nier: Can't say the thought never crossed my mind, but I have no interest in it. After all, I have you and mom here.

Yonah smiles and hugs Nier.

Nier: Hey, want to go pick some berries? And maybe find some flowers so we can plant them?

Yonah: Yes!

Nier smiles and gets up before kneeling so Yonah can climb onto his back. He walks and Yonah laughs with joy. They leave the village and go to a field that has berry bushes and flowers. Nier picks the berries while Yonah grabs whatever flower she thinks is the prettiest. She returns to him and they eat some of the berries that were collected. Yonah climbs back onto Nier and he takes them back to their house. They go to the tavern where everyone eats and commemorates them as the guardians of the village.

Afterwards, Nier and Yonah leave the tavern and head home. On the way, they see smoke coming from other parts of the region.

Yonah: They must be celebrating.

Nier: Maybe. Let's go to bed.

Yonah: Okay.

Yonah: Big Brother, What's going on?!

Nier: I don't know, But I'm going to check it out. Follow me.

Nier and Yonah go downstairs and opens a secret compartment in the wall before pulling a lever. A hidden staircase opens up and leads to a metal door. Nier then kneels and puts his hands on Yonah's shoulders.

Nier: Yonah, I need you to be quiet and stay in here. No matter what, unless I come back, do not leave or make a sound.

Yonah: But Big Brother, I'm scared.

Nier: So am I. That's why I need you to stay here. Understand.

Tears stream from Yonah's eyes as she struggles to look at her brother.

Yonah: Yes.

Yonah goes to the metal door and opens it before closing it and Nier pulls the lever to hide the staircase and leaves the house. He sees explosions and the village on fire. Nier continues to run toward the village as he sees trails of bodies on the ground. When he reaches the houses, he sees several masked people dressed in black. They look at him with a psychotic look and attack him. Nier pulls out his sword and manages to defend himself by knocking out most of his attackers.

Soon he hears clapping and someone walking toward him.

???: Not gonna lie kid, you're pretty impressive.

The man suddenly appears right in front of Nier as he punches the boy in the stomach. Nier Kneels down as the man holds him up by his hair

???: You know, I thought you looked familiar. Your old man and lady put up quite a fight back then too. But they were still weaker than they thought they were.

Nier: My parents?

???: Yeah. They put up quiet a fight as well. But they.

Nier was disturbed to hear what the man was saying and looks around too see all the villagers are dead.

Nier: What is your name?

???: Huh? You can call me Seraphim. Why you ask?

Nier: So I can find you!

Seraphim: Interesting. Then I'll be waiting for you kid.

Seraphim punches Nier to the ground before walking away

Seraphim: Kill everyone that's still alive.

Nier's eyes widen in horror and anger from hearing Black Shuck's order. Black Shuck leaves and the attackers head to the house. One of them comes walking toward Nier.

Attacker: Don't worry kid. We'll make sure we put you sister out of her misery once we're done with her.

*SLASH*

Suddenly, Nier is behind the attacker and their head falls seperates from their body. Nier rushes to the house to try and protect the Yonah. The attackers already there see Nier coming for them and get ready to fight. 

Nier: Stay away from her!

Nier then swings his sword and slashed through the first one charging for him. The rest attempt to kill Nier, but he manages to kill the rest of them. Nier looks back and while he tells himself the sight is gruesome, he doesn't feel any different than when he was killing monsters.

Nier: These guys weren't human.

Nier goes inside and let's Yonah out of the safe room. She runs up to him and hugs him.

Yonah: Big brother! I was so worried!

Yonah then looks at Nier's face and knows that thing's aren't alright.

Yonah: What about everyone else?

Nier couldn't know what to say and Yonah begins to cry. Suddenly, we hear the door downstairs open and hear a very familiar and concered voice.

???: Nier!? Yonah!? Are you here!? It's safe to come out now!

The two siblings look at each other and step out of Nier's room to go downstairs.

Two years Later

Outside the city of Orario, Nier and Yonah are on a hill overlooking it. 

Yonah: This is Orario?

Nier: Yeah. This will be our new home away from home.

Yonah: We'll go back to the cabin and visit Mom, right?

Nier: Of course Yonah. Come on.

Yonah gets on Nier's back and he starts walking toward Orario.
