Nier POV:

I was on the 7th floor of the Dungeon and fighting whatever monster came my way. As I began walking, a bunch of Kobolds appeared and look at me with their glowing red eyes. I pull out the sword my dad gave me and prepared to fight. I charge at the charge at the Kobolds and slice through the first one charging at me. The second one tries to strike me, but I dodge and decapitate it. The last one attempts to run, but I tackle it to the ground and wrap my arm around its neck before I snap it. I get up and use the blade to cut open their chests in order to rip out the magic stones they had before putting them in my pouch.

Nier: Got more. That should help with dinner tonight. Yonah will be happy to eat out again.

I hear footsteps and turn to see a boy with the same hair color as me and with red eyes.

Nier: Bell?

Bell: Nier. I'm glad you're okay. I'd say what were you doing all the way down here, but I have a habit of getting asked that question.

Nier: I just figured I'd get a head start and try to collect as much as I can. I'm planning on getting stronger as fast as I can, but I also wanted to take Yonah out to eat. I can tell how she's not a fan of staying cooped up in the church all day.

Bell: It's really nice that you're looking out for your sister. Why don't I help you out a bit before we go back?

Nier: Sure. By the way, how's the knife you have? You said Hestia got it for you?

Bell holds a black knife with several inscriptions on the sides.

Bell: It's great, I'm making great progress because of this. Hestia really helped. I was able to take on a Silverback because of this.

Nier: So I've heard. Okay, let's press futher.

Bell nods and the two of us walk deeper into the dungeon. It wasn't that deep since we couldn't go further, otherwise, we'd risk running into more dangerous monsters. I was a Level 2, but was recommended to stay in the floors for beginners since I've never been in the dungeon before. a strange dark stubstance falls from the ceiling and turns into one eyed humanoids.

Bell: War shadows?

Nier: Any advice?

Bell: Don't let them touch you.

Nier: Poisonous?

Bell: No, just sharp and deadly.

Nier: So are we.

We charge in and slice through the war shadows. It took some effort since they weren't regular shadows, but we manage to beat them. Me and Bell picked them up and split them evenly.

Nier: Less time consuming that gutting Kobalds.

Bell: You still do it faster than I did. How are able to do that?

Nier: This isn't the first time I carved up mosnters for their parts. And my mom trained me real good back home.

Bell: She was probably just trying to prepare you.

Nier: I know she was.

I shake my pouch and hear that it's half filled. Bell does the same and is surprised. We then hear something toward us and see a small girl with animal ears and tail.

???: Bell! I'm so sorry I'm late

Bell: It's okay Lili.

Nier: Lilli?

Bell: Oh right. Nier, this is my supporter, Lili. Lili, this is Nier. As of a few days ago, he's the second official member of the Hestia Familia.

Lili: Nice to meet you.

Nier: Likewise. 

Suddenly, more Kobolds emerge from the walls.

Nier: No rest rest for the wicked.

Lili: You can say that again.

I charge at the Kobolds and kill them. Bell and Lili are a bit surprised seeing that.

Lili: You took those things out like they were nothing.

Bell: What Level did Hestia say you were on par with?

Nier: Level 2.

Lili: Bell, I thought you said he just arrived in Orario a few days ago.

Bell: He did.

Nier: Where I come from, a lot of dangerous monsters live in the region. And my mom trained me a lot before I came to Orario.

I walk up to the Kobolds and start cutting them open and so does Bell and Lili. When I extract the Magic stone from a Kobold, it disintigrates and ends up leaving a tooth.

Bell: Hey, you got an item drop. That's awesome! You've been trying to collect those left and right.

Lili: You saving for something?

Nier: I just want to take my sister out to eat. I know she's been feeling a bit depressed from being cooped up at home all day.

Lili: Yeah, I guess that can make someone a little sad.

Bell: Let's head back, it's been a few hours since we came down here.

I nod and we all head back to the surface and we go to the guild where we exchange our stones and item drops for Valis. We aren't a big familia and we don't have a lot, so this stuff allows us to survive. I see Bell hand Lili a pouch of what I assume to be containing Valis. She then leaves before he catches up with me.

Bell: Alright, let's head home.

Nier: Yeah, I can't wait to get back to Yonah and take her somewhere nice. It's still light out so maybe we can go to Mama Mia's before she hikes up the prices.

Bell: *Nervous Chuckle*. I still think they'll do that since your an adventurer. But I bet Yonah will like that.

I nod and walk back with Bell to an area away from the guild. It looks like an abandoned place filled with ruins. They go to a church and enter it to see the decaying interior.

Nier: How much longer until you think we can get a slightly bigger place at least?

Bell: With you here? Maybe in a few months or so. I am hoping we can get there faster.

We walk through the pews and enter a door that leads to the basement. There Yonah runs up to Nier and hugs him.

Yonah: Big Brother! You're back.

???: You two are here earlier than usual.

A short, black haired girl with long pigtails walks toward me and Bell.

Bell: Oh, you're back early as well Goddess Hestia.

Hestia: Well they had someone else to cover what remained of my shift so they let me leave sooner than expected. So how was the dungeon?

Nier: Got a decent amount.

Bell: Mostly due to Nier getting up early and heading into the dungeon before I even got the chance to. Again.

Hestia then looks at me with a look of concern.

Hestia: Nier, I admire your determination, but you really need to take it easier and be more cautious. Regardless of what made you on par with a level 2, the monsters in the dungeon are much stronger than the ones that roam the world. So please don't act rash.

Nier: I'll try.

Hestia: Great. So shall I check on both of your Stats?

Nier: Can you check mine later? I'm taking Yonah out to eat.

Yonah is excited to hear what I said.

Yonah: Really?!

Nier: I thought it'd be nice to take you outside. Feel bad for keeping ya here.

Hestia: Very well. Just be back before midnight if you want me to check your stats.

Nier: Sure. Let's go Yonah.

Yonah: Yay!

The two of us go to a bar called the Hostess of Fertility. Hopefully since the sun's still out, the prices won't be too insane. There seem to be people inside and we go in as well. Coming out of the kitches is the owner of the bar, Mama Mia. Don't know her full name, but she's nice as long nobody ticks her off.

Mama Mia: Oh, hey Nier. Haven't seen you for a few weeks. Was starting to worry you were avoiding me.

Nier: Nah, just trying to raise money for the familia.

Mama Mia: Well, you do have your work cut out for ya, so I can't say I blame ya.

She then notices Yonah and looks at her. Yonah then hides behind my legs.

Mama Mia: And who is this little lady?

Nier: My sister. Say hi Yonah.

Yonah: H-hi.

Mama Mia: Well, isn't she just the most adorable thing? Well, order what ya want. You better still pay, but I won't increase the prices just yet. Consider this a welcome to your baby sis.

Yonah and I take our seats and we both order or favorite meal. After a few minutes, Mama Mia comes with two plates with Turkey and potatoes on them. She also hands a cup of nectar to Nier and a cup of milk to Yonah.

Mama Mia: Here ya go. Like you ordered last time. Like brother like sister. Enjoy.

I begin eating my food and so does Yonah. She was kinda drooling at the sight of it. Don't blame her, it's delicious. I know why adventurers come here despite the prices. We enjoy it and recall the time that we were eating turkey and potatoes with mom. And ate her Blackberry Bread afterward. Yonah begins tearing up and Mama Mia sees it.

Mama Mia: Oh, I'm sorry. Did I do something wrong.

Yonah: No. It's just so delicious. It taste just like our mom's.

Mama Mia: Oh, she must be a pretty good cook as well.

Nier: Yeah.

Yonah and I finish up and I pay for the food.

Mama Mia: Stay safe you too. Come back again.

Nier: When I've got the money for it.

Yonah: Bye Mama Mia.

The two of us then head back to the church and go to the basement. Hestia and Bell were having leftovers and they see us.

Hestia: Oh, welcome back you two.

Bell: How was going out in Orario, Yonah?

Yonah: Still not used to it. But we got good turkey at a place a woman called Mama Mia works at.

Bell: Oh, Mama Mia. Yeah, the prices there at night are crazy. But she's a good person. I mean she can be scary, but she's good.

Hestia: Nier, let's update your stats then call it a day.

Nier: Sure.

Bell: Yonah, let's go play for a bit upstairs.

Yonah: Okay.

Bell and Yonah go upstairs and I take off my shirt before laying on Hestia's Bed. She then checks on the Falna she gave me and updates my stats.

Hestia: Nier, you've been really pushing yourself. Not that there's anything bad about that. But I am concerned with how you always wake up early and the first thing you do is head there. Bell dreams about the Dungeon way to much, what's your desire?

Nier: I just want to get stronger.

Hestia: I respect that, but do you have a goal?

Nier: To protect Yonah.

Hestia smiles at my words.

Hestia: Admirable as always.

Hestia finish and puts a piece of paper on my back before "Printing" my stats on it. I take a look and see that my strength and endurance have gone up a good amount with my agility. However, underneath the stats, a strange runes that I can't read.

Nier: I keep wondering what's up with these runes.

Hestia: It's a language that's been forgotten so I have no idea either. But I don't think it's anything bad.

Nier: Okay

Hestia: Well, how about we all go to bed? It's getting pretty late.

Nier: Sure.

We tell Bell and Yonah that it's time for bed and they come downstairs. Me and Yonah roll out our sleeping bags and lay in them while Hestia sleeps on the bed and Bell has the couch.

Dream

At first, I began to see nothing but a white space. Then someone or somethign forms in front of me. An armored being with metallic wings and red eyes stands in front of me. I look at it in fear and sense the immense rage within him. It was like staring at Death in the face. Soon, I hear shouting and turn around to see something horrific. There are piles of bodies on the ground and the entire land around me is burning. 

I then hear screaming and turn around to find myself in a thrown room see the armored being walking though several puddles of black blood. He approaches a wounded man who begs for mercy. The being then decapitates him before grabbing the head and walking to a balcony. He then brandishes the head to all the onlookers in the city.

???: I. AM. VENGEANCE!!!!!!

His eyes burn as if they are one fire and I end up staring into them and feel the immense hatred and anger within him.

Dream End

I wake up and begin panting, but keep myself from screaming to not disturb the others. However, I feel something tug on my arm and look to see it was Yonah doing it.

Yonah: (Whipser) Big brother?

Nier: (Whisper) Yes, Yonah?

Yonah: (Whisper) Are you okay?

Nier: (Whisper) Yeah. Just had a bad dream. Go back to sleep Yonah.

Yonah: (Whiper) Okay. Night.

Yonah goes back to bed and I gently rub her head as she sleeps. What was that? I don't know. Why the hell did it seem so familiar?
