DAMNATION (2024—TBA)
Band of Brothers / Alternate History

In December of 1941, Japan attacked the naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and the United States was thrust into a global-scale war again—twenty-four years after thousands perished in the Great War.

In early 1942, the United States Army Nurse Corps announced a collaboration with the Army's newly founded 101st Airborne Division: a select number of nurses were to be selected to train alongside the men of the 101st, joining them in what nurses did best: heal.

Gwendolyn Beaumont, a recent nursing graduate, worked long hours in the Our Lady of the Lake hospital in Baton Rouge and watched as her brother signed himself away to the Marine Corps, leaving behind their forlorn parents, who relentlessly wrote letters to him. Desperate to put her education to good use, Gwen enlisted for the only feasible thing—the Nurse Corps.

Monserrat Navarrete was the third daughter of five children. Raised in Los Angeles under the belief women were supposed to be seen and not heard, Monse squandered away her time working long shifts as a nurse in the local maternity ward, bidding her time until she could leave the repressive atmosphere of the patriarchal Navarette household.

Eleanor Galatis of New York City attended her nursing classes dutifully, chauffeured by her pseudo-cousin, Abraham, who acted like her 6'5" shadow. Abe always took her back to the confines of her home, as her father commanded him to do so, and all that Elle could do was hope that one day she would escape the confines of the Galatis name.

Seattle native Phyllis Thompson had been part of the ANC since 1938. She'd spent years working herself to the bone, ambitiously making her way up the ranks and garnering a reputation for her straight-laced, professional disposition. She was tasked to lead nurses to accompany the men of the 101st Airborne Division into battle. A daunting task for anyone, but one that Phyllis was more than capable of completing.

WARNINGS AND DISCLAIMERS ⸻ This story may or will contain profanity, death, blood and gore, war, period-typical sexism, tobacco, and alcohol. This is your only warning, so please read it at your discretion. This is fanfiction for HBO's 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers. It is a "what if?" story following an alternate historical timeline. While there is an attempt to adhere to the period, it will not be perfect. Again, this is a work of (fan)fiction, and I mean no disrespect to the real-life heroes of Easy Company and WWII. All of the mentions of real-life people are based on the actors' portrayals in Band of Brothers.

AUTHOR'S NOTE ⸻ Welcome to DAMNATION! This story has been through many reiterations since I began writing for Gwen and the girls during the summer of 2019. I was 14/15 and becoming more of a comfortable writer, but I'm almost 20 now and a college student. The 42.01K words during high school can be better, and that's the goal now.

I wanted to rename this fic, but you and I are stuck with the preexisting title because it makes sense. And if you've been here since the original reiteration on my other account, you'll note that there are new characters and new face claims for the girls. 'Twas just the natural evolution of revisiting a story years after you initially wrote it, and the way I imagined everyone and the story wasn't the same.

Also, apologies for continually publishing and republishing. I have a terrible habit, but writing mainly on Ao3 has helped me overcome that over the last here. (Although, I still like that "Delete" button...)

I hope everyone has fun, and thank you for reading!
