As I was walking down the stairs to go meet up with Cole, I bumped into Ben. Literally. He almost fell off.
«Where are you off to?» he asked. His eyes were bloodshot and the circles under his eyes were unnormally dark.
«I'm going to have a talk with my Fatereader.» I said openly. It wasn't weird for teenagers to go talk to their Fatereaders.
«Oh, okay... Is everything alright?» he frowned. He was genuinely worried.
«Not really... I don't wanna talk about it right now.» I gulped.
«Okay. Just know that we're all here if you need anything.»
«Same goes for you.» I nodded and we went our way. Claire was on the sidewalk talking with Jon's mother.
I greeted them and kept walking.
You're probably wondering why I would go talk to Cole, who was a complete stranger and definitely not a therapist.
Well... He was a Fatereader, which meant he was an expert on fates, duh. He also probably knew who the villain was. Fatereaders know that stuff.
I knew he wouldn't just tell me, so I had to force him to. You can't see me, but I'm punching my left palm with my right fist. Just so you know.
Anyway...
Remember when I swore I was never returning to the building the revealing ceremony took place? Well, the joke's on me because that's exactly where I went for the meeting.
After lots of roaming around, I finally located the room I had my tattoo revealed and knocked on the door.
Cole opened the door almost immediately.
«Hey. I heard what happened with your friend, is everything okay?» he asked.
«No, and spare me the small talk, you know why I'm here.» I snapped.
«Wow, rude much? I was just trying to be nice.»
«What did I say about small talk? Just tell me what I want and make things easy for both of us. You tell me who the villain is, I leave and we both go our ways.»
«You know I can't do that, the same way that I can't tell the villain who you are. Would you really want them knowing?» he questioned as I walked in and sat on one of the many cushions.
«That doesn't really matter, because I suspect that somehow, the villain already knows who I am.» I rolled my eyes.
«Unless you've told them, that's impossible.» he argued.
«Other than you and me, only one more person knows what my fate is and they've shown me their tattoo too.» I hissed.
«Maybe that someone spilled your secret.»
«Jon would never do that. I've known him all my life.»
«Did you ever consider that maybe the killer is one of your friends?»
«Of course not! We've all grown up together! None of would ever do anything like that! We were all heartbroken!» I yelled at him and blinked back some tears.
«I'm just saying that--»
«No. You don't get a saying in that, okay? I know my friends. They're practically family. Hell, Kyle has a key to Felicia and Chris' house! Jessie had a key to Jasmine's! We trusted each other with our lives!» I snapped again.
«Is that why only Jon knows what your fate is?»
«I'm just not ready to make such a huge reveal, okay? Only Kyle and Felicia have publicly shown their tattoos, and they're a survivor and a lover. How am I supposed to show my tattoo when there's such a huge responsibility coming with it?»
«You see, that's your problem. You are too afraid of betrayal, that you keep huge secrets from your so-called family. When you're the one that doesn't trust them, it's hypocritic to snap at others when they do the same.»
«Okay, this is over. This is where I draw the line. I'll find who the villain is myself and when I do they'll wish they had never messed with me or the people I love.» I hissed and got up. I walked out of the room, ignoring Cole who was trying to stop me and slammed the door.
I rushed away from the room and started making my way back to the Clonies.
«Jinx, wait.» he said.
«No. You don't get to talk about my loved ones, okay? You don't know them like I do!» I yelled at him.
«I'm sorry, okay? Just come back tomorrow, okay? I'll give you all I have on previous villains. It might help.»
«Whatever.» I muttered and left.
I kept gritting my teeth all the way back home. I went in and ran upstairs to my bedroom, which was at the end of the hallway.
I stopped abruptly upon reaching my door. I found a note on Jessie's bed. It was printed out, so there was no handwriting to recognise.
«Claire?» I called.
«What is it?» she asked.
«Did you go in my room?»
«No, why?» she sounded worried
«Nothing, nevermind.» I said anxiously.
I grabbed the note and sat in my bed. There were only four words on it:
Good luck,
Your villain.
I stared at it shocked. How had the villain found out about my plans? I hadn't told anyone! Unless, Cole was the villain's rat.
That's when I decided I would go back the next day and give him a good telling off.
The phone rang twice and Claire picked up. I heard muffled voices for a while and then my sister called me.
«Jinx? It's Felicia!» she yelled.
«And why in the name of Hell is she calling us? Couldn't she just come ring the bell?» I muttered. I went downstairs to the kitchen and my sister handed me the phone. «Hey, what's up?» I asked her.
«I had a small fight with Chris and my parents, can I come over?» she asked.
«Are you stupid? Is that why you called? Why didn't you straight up come?»
«I thought you might be busy...» Felicia muttered.
«Well, I'm not. Get your pajamas and that Cluedo you have hidden in your closet. We're having a sleepover.» I told her. «And never do anything stupid like that again, Ellie.»
«Don't call me that, you know I hate it.» she mumbled.
«Well, there's nothing you can do about it so deal with it and get your Cluedo here.»
«Why do I get the feeling that you're inviting me over just for the Cluedo?» she laughed.
«Because I am.» I joked.
«I really hate you sometimes... I'll be there in five.» she said. I heard the muffled voices of her family calling her. «Make that ten.» she corrected. I could practically see her cringing.
«Hurry up!» I told her and hang up.
I told Claire what was going on and went along to get some blankets on the couch. We already had some popcorn and snacks for the night, even though we would probably be fast asleep by midnight.
Early, I know, but we had been crying our eyes out for three days. It was expected.
Felicia had always had trouble with her family, I knew that. I didn't really know why, because she was mostly quiet and humble so I have no idea what would lead her to have such huge arguments with them. She never really explained and Chris never even mentioned them.
A good fifteen minutes later, there was a knock on the door. I went downstairs to open, but found out that Claire had beaten me to it.
«Hey, sweetheart! Everything okay?» she asked Felicia.
«Yeah! How's the baby going?» Felicia laughed. She was definitely good at hiding her problems.
«You know, still unborn... He started kicking!» Claire said excitedly as my friend walked in the house.
«It's going to be a girl, sweetie!» Ben yelled from another room.
«We'll see about that, honey!» Claire rolled her eyes. Felicia burst out laughing. We had all been huge "Blaire" shippers before even my sister and Ben realised they liked each other and we knew what a ship was.
I think that deep down, all little kids are shippers; whether they know it or not.
«Okay, I'll leave you two to decide what you're going to do.» my sister said and left.
«What happened?» I asked Felicia.
«Let's discuss that one over Cluedo...» She nor rowed her eyes at a wall, as if she tried to decide whether to punch it or not.
I grabbed the Cluedo from her hands, we went upstairs to my room and set the game on my bed.
«So... Are you going to tell me what's going on? You sounded pretty shaken up when we talked on the phone. Or are you going to act like nothing bad happened and tell me nothing?» I questioned worriedly.
«Tough, but I think I'm gonna go with curtain number two.» she muttered. She always tended to mutter when she was nervous.
«Oops, someone burned down curtain number two, so now there's only number one for you to choose from... Spill. Who do I have to murder? I can have my shovel here in 5 seconds.»
«It's just... My parents are okay with Chris dating in general, but when he told them about me and Kyle they freaked. My dad said he is going to call Kyle's parents if I don't break up with him. It's just so unfair... I get that they should be protective, especially if I'm dating someone they don't know or trust, but this is Kyle we're talking about. He's one of the nicest guys and they've known him since he was in diapers. Heck, he even has a key to our house! I'm sure they don't want me dating him because he's bisexual...» she ranted and took a deep breath. «I'm sorry... I don't wanna be the person that complains about their problems 24/7... I just--»
«Whoah, hold your horses. You have every right to be mad. You're absolutely right. What your parents are doing is unfair and wrong! Secondly, you are not that person. I've known you for sixteen years and this is the first time you ever complain about anything. You have been bottling all that stuff up for years, it's time for you to blow off some steam. And you should totally tell them off about their biphobia.» I reassured her. «What did Chris do about it?»
«Uh... He didn't really do anything... He just stood by, like he was afraid to get into the fight. That's what he always does.» Felicia shrugged. «I don't want to blame him, but it's kinda his fault that my parents found out about Kyle's sexuality... He muttered something about it when the fight started...»
«I need to have a really serious talk with your brother.» I hissed.
«No, you don't have to. That's Chris for you, always has been and always will be. Do you think his fate is a bystander?» she subtly changed the subject. Much like Claire, was really good at that.
«I don't think so...» I shook my head.
«Are you gonna tell us what you are any time soon?» she asked. I gave her a glance and pulled my sleeve up. I couldn't hide this from her any longer, this was Felicia we were talking about. Besides, I needed to show her that I trusted her and that she should do the same. She needs to be constantly reminded of that.
«Sorry I didn't tell you sooner... Please don't tell anyo--» I was interrupted by her jumping over the Cluedo board and hugging me. It took me a second to realise what was going on and hug her back.
«You're such a dummy, Jinxie...»
«Don't call me that...» I muttered in annoyance.
«Does Claire know?» she asked.
«No. I don't want to worry her, especially after Jessie. Only you, Jon and my Fatereader know about it.» I explained. She nodded in understanding. «Speaking of Cole... Can you come with me tomorrow morning? He said he would have all the past villain files for me to help out or something. If he really wanted to help he would straight up give me the villain's name, but whatever... I suspect he's a rat.» I told her.
«What makes you think that?»
«Yesterday, when I came back from my meeting with him, I found a note that said "Good luck" and it was signed by the villain. I had told no one what we talked about.»
«That is suspicious, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions. I'm coming.» she smiled.
«Good, let's finish the game now. I wanna kick your but at this again.» I laughed and she rolled her eyes.
The next morning I lent her some clothes and we left to go meet with Cole. This time, I found the room faster, as I had gone back there the day before.
Even though it was mostly because I had Felicia with me and she was better at navigating around.
Outside, we found Jasmine waiting.
«Jax?» I asked a little shocked. She looked up looking even more surprised than me. Felicia gave her a curious look.
«What are you two doing here?» she asked.
«We're here to talk with Cole... We have some questions.» Felicia lied and shrugged. Well, it wasn't really a lie but it wasn't the entire truth either, so...
I was a little surprised by her being so comfortable with faking.
«What about you?» I asked her.
«Same as you two.» she shrugged.
«How are you doing?» Felicia tilted her head, frowning.
«As well as a person who just lost their g- best friend can be.» we weren't really affected by that. Jasmine and Jessie had always been more close with each other than with the rest of us.
«Yeah... Wait, is that--» I asked looking shocked at the floor. There was a thick, dark red liquid spreading from underneath the door, which I suspected was blood.
Felicia knocked on the door with panic spread across her face.
No answer.
I opened the door and walked in the room. No sign of Cole or anyone for that matter.
But if no one was in the room, where did the blood come from?
The answer came by a terrified scream that escaped Jasmine's lips. We turned around and found Cole spiked on the thick, metal door with a dagger on his stomach and his tattoo scratched off, like Jessie's. Above his head was another message.
Oops...
Your villain.
A/N: Here's an extra long chapter to make up for the kinda short ones! How much do you hate me right now? Admit it. It's a lot.
Do you have any suspicions about who the villain is? The traitor? What do you think Chris is?
Keep in mind that whatever you say, my reply will be an evil smiley face. This smiley face is truly evil, just look at it ~>☺
LOOK AT ITS EVIL EYES.
Anyway... That's all I've got for you now. See you on Friday 😘

P.S.: You can't kill me now. If you do, you won't find out the details about Cole (if any... I guess you'll just have to wait and see...)
