Damien's pov

In Mirabel's room, it was time to start training. I had her fly from the ground to the roof for a couple laps. Then after five lap intervals, she was to fly from wall to wall for ten laps before returning to the ground roof laps. I had her do that for an hour before I demanded she take a break. I made her a good breakfast consisting of a cream cheese and chive crepe, pancakes, a fruit salad, and rose milk.

After she ate her meal, I moved onto her wind affinity. I had her move rocks with her wind until she couldn't. After she exhausted her core, I sat her down, gave her water, and gave her a list of books to read about her affinities.

"After you're done reading come find me and we can test your flying in the open air of my room."

"Right!"

She left to her desk. I made my way to my own room. I stopped outside the back door, kneeling by a small fence. I had seeds come to me from my trunk. I had planned to show Mirabel the proper way to plant the different kinds of seeds for potion making, but I didn't want to overwhelm her on her first day of affinity studies.

"Hi Damien!"

I jumped and spun around, dropping my seed packets.

"Good morning, Miss Isabella. Did have a good sleep?"

"I did. Are you beginning to plant your garden?"

"I am indeed. Care to join me? I was joking about the lack of magic the other day."

"Sure. Do you need any flora?"

"I do actually. In this spot, I need a rose bush, then over here a couple lavender plants, a patch of mint, and some poppy flowers would be great. I don't think you'll be able to grow my potion ingredients, but I can show you how to plant them."

Amazingly, each plant I rattled off was grown in the best spot for it, as soon as I said it.

"Sure! I'd love to learn new plants!"

I was able to show her how to plant basic mushshrooms before she was called away by her prima. I planted my parasol moss in the darker corner of my garden. I dug a tiny hole, filled it with water and planted a small patch of creep cluster. I planted a single plant of Nirnroot, my ears covered of course. I dug another hole, dropped a dead fish Selkie gave me along with some nightshade seeds; that particular flower feeds on dead flesh of animals or humans. 

I planted glowing mushrooms in the darkest part of the garden, just under the the windowsill. My lovely thistle plants were planted near the roses. The ever annoying and fickle plants, jazbay and juniper, were planted close together near the back. A little garlic plant was planted near the parasol moss. I had to wait a few more week for the new moon to make more moon sugar, and void salts were extremely dangerous to harvest, as I actually need to go to the void for that. Definitely something for a later time. I stood back and simply admired my newly planted garden. 

"Hey Damien! Tia Pepa wants you!"

"Coming!"

I jogged to the door with little Selkie on my heels in a cute light green sundress with her short pigtails in light pink bows. I bounced down the stairs and found Pepa talking to Dolores. 

"Miss Pepa?"

"Damien yes I- Dios mio! What in the world have you been doing?"

I looked confused and looked down at myself. My white button down and tan slacks were cover in dirt and colorful stains from my plants. Perfectly normal in my opinion.

"What do you mean?"

"Felix!"

"Si? Dios son! What happened to you?"

"Felix, take him to the shower and give him a towel."

"Si, mi vida."

Felix bumped my shoulder, so I reluctantly followed him with Selkie trying to follow.

"Sweetheart, you can't go with him."

"Why not? If it about him being naked I've seen that before, so it doesn't bother me."

Every head that was present stared at me in abject horror. I put up my hands in surrender and embarrassment. 

"I was getting dressed and she walked in on me. I seriously doubt that it never happened to any of you when your children were her age. Selkie, go help Miss Julieta, por favor."

Camilo and Dolores gave massive body shudders; Dolores more so. I continued following Felix upstairs. As soon as his back was turned, I snuck to my room and washed myself, and my clothing in a bubble of swishing water. I was washed and dried in a matter of seconds. I made my way downstairs, but I stumbled a bit. I raised my hand to my eyes, and sure enough, blurry as anything. 

"Heh, I knew this was bound to happen soon. Especially with how much magic I used in the past week."

"What do you mean?"

I saw Dolores watching me from the bottom of the stairs. 

"Don't worry about it. Where's your Mama?"

"With Tia Julieta and your Selkie friend."

I slowly made my way down the stairs and leaned on the wall for support. I carefully inched my way into the kitchen. Selkie was sitting on the counter, swinging her legs, being a cute little taste tester for Julieta's cookies. As soon as I was in the doorway, she was at my knees in a flash. 

"Master, are you okay?"

"I'm fine Selkie. Are you having fun?"

"Master needs to go to his room. Right now!"

I laughed and patted her head as I leaned on a counter. Julieta dropped her knife, startling Pepa, who accidentally shot a bolt of light toward us. I shielded Selkie with a small water shield and finally collapsed. 

Selkie's pov

As Master went down I panicked. I rushed around him and tried to pull him toward the stairs. 

"What happened to him?!"

"Master needs to go to his room! Selkie's too weak!"

I tried to pull him still, but Strong Girl lifted him and ran to his room I sat on Master's chest rubbing his cheek lightly. I jumped onto the grass and pulled the lady toward the water. 

"Put him in the water."

"What?! He'll drown!"

"No! Master is a Water Witch!"

I put my skin on and forced her to drop him into the water. He splashed into the water and floated to the top again. I swam out to him and splashed his head with the water. 

"Selkie needs to keep Master wet or Master doesn't wake up anymore."

I swam to shore and made myself grow larger and scary to force the magic family away. 

I saw Lady Mira rush in. I dispelled my illusion and shed my skin. I ran to her and pulled her closer. I let out my shrill whistle to call my fae friends. They a mean bunch, but their my and Master's friends. 

"Keep those humans from coming closer to Master and keep him wet!" 

They smirked and put the humans to sleep. These fae are famous for their joy of playing with human minds. First they put humans to sleep with soft lullabies and sweet smells. Then they manipulate their dreams into ones so sweet that humans never wake from them. They did that to Master at first, but Master grew on them and befriended him. 

"Lady Mira, Master exhausted his core! Master gave Selkie a task to teach you what to do when this happens."

"Okay, lets go!"

She seemed scared, but Master said that was a bad thing. Master said  to make sure she was calm and focused. 

"Lady Mira. You need to be calm. As long as Master is in the water he will be fine. If you learn how to help Master, he'll wake up again."

I dived into the water and splashed Master again. I swam back to shore and led Miss Mira to  her potion room/corner.

"Master made sure to place ingredients for this potion. You need honey, moon sugar,  four rose petals, and Spriggan sap." 

She got out the proper ingredients and I told her how to make the potion. 

"Master doesn't like asking for help. Mistress Sofia taught Selkie to make this potion so he doesn't hurt himself again. Now Selkie teaches it to you so you can help Master."

After I deemed the potion properly made, I rushed into Master's room. The magic family was waking up and the fae were freaking out. I hid Lady Mira under an illusion of invisibility and swam out to Master. After splashing him, I poured the potion down his throat. Master's skin went from sickly pale to his normal healthy glow and I sighed so hard I was on the lake floor. I swam up to the surface and saw the fae using most of their magic to keep the humans asleep. The Camilo boy seemed the most adamant to stay awake, but he was too drowsy. I showed the Fae where each human slept and then helped spirit them there. I locked Master's door from the inside.

"Lady Mira. You should have your old room illusion activated and the entrance that leads into here locked tight until Master is awake."

"Alright Selkie. Thank you."

I gave Miss Mira a big tear filled smile.

"No, Thank you, Lady Mira. You'll be an amazing witch! Selkie feels it in her tummy!"
