The TV in the living room provided the perfect background noise to ease Jaebum's nerves as he cleaned his place before Youngjae's arrival. Sure, Youngjae was a typical guy like him and knows how messy an apartment would get if a guy lived in it. But, Youngjae was more than just an ordinary guy in Jaebum's eyes. He was special. And in Jaebum's mind, you need to clean your crap up before special people come to your place.
As soon as he was done tidying up the last thing in place, the door bell rung.
Youngjae!
Jaebum hurried to his front door, almost tripping in the process. He looked at the little mirror that he placed in the small mud room. Jaebum fixed his hair and clothes in place. When his mind convinced him that everything looked fine, he unlocked the door.
There stood Youngjae innocently and beautifully. He was wearing casual clothes, but somehow he made a shirt and pants look amazing. Jaebum began to feel shy and flustered.
"Youngjae, come in." Jaebum saved himself from stuttering. He moved out of the way for the other male to get in.
"Hi Jaebum!" Youngjae did the unexpected and gave Jaebum a hug. Jaebum froze. He could feel Youngjae's body pressed up close to him and hear his melodic giggle near his ear. It was enough to make anyone lose their breath because of how precious it was. Jaebum made sure to hug back so he could savor the feeling of Youngjae in his arms.
They break apart and Youngjae was the first one to go to the living room. He stands by the table looking around curiously.
"Where's the pizza?"
"Oh," Jaebum rubbed the back of his neck. "I didn't order yet because I had no idea what type of pizza you like..."
"Oh, okay." Youngjae understood. "What types of pizza do they offer?"
Jaebum muttered a small 'I'll be right back,' and hurried to get his laptop. He brought it to the kitchen and they went to the website to look at the company's selection of choices. All of the pizza looked delicious of course.
"Chicken Alfredo pizza exists?! Woah." Youngjae looked at all of the varieties. He finally found the one he craved.
"Three meat?" Youngjae looks at Jaebum for approval. Jaebum didn't mind at all.
"Alright. I'll call the pizza place." Jaebum grabbed his phone from his pocket and dialed the familiar number. Once they picked up, he told the guy at the other line his order, and the guy gave him the price and time of arrival. The call ended smoothly.
"What do you want to do while we wait?" Youngjae smiled at Jaebum once he put his phone away.
"I got some movies, video games, board games, internet, cable,-"
"You seem to hold a lot of entertainment here." Youngjae laughed.
"Yeah well the guys like to crash at my place a lot, I don't know why." Jaebum ran his hand through his hair. "They have their own places but they always like to hang out in mine."
"Your place is very cozy. I don't blame them." Youngjae leaned back in his chair.
"I guess." Jaebum looked around his place. Most of his furniture had nice squishy cushions. His couches had multiple throw pillows that matched the household design. The design itself was comfortable as well. Its deep colors such as creamy browns, velvety reds, and hints of muted greens scattered across the entire vicinity. The layout was simple too, everything was on the first floor because it only had one floor. There was carpet in the living room that once you stepped on it, you wanted to melt into its fibers. It wasn't hard to guess that everyone wanted to go to his places because it made them feel warm and at home. Jaebum was low key proud.
But the fact that he was able to share a space like this with someone as angelic as Youngjae made him feel even softer inside.
"If you want we can go to the living room and see what's on the TV." Jaebum looked at the person who never puts his mind to rest.
"Okay." Youngjae agreed optimistically. They both headed to the couch. Before Jaebum could accompany Youngjae, the phone rang.
Jaebum groaned internally. He picked it up.
"Hello?" One could tell over the phone that his voice wasn't nice in the slightest.
"J-Jaebum, Um uh, I-I" It was Bambam.
"Hey, hey," Jaebum grew concerned. "What's wrong?"
"Can I c-come over?" Jaebum listened to Bambam's distressed voice. He turned around to look at Youngjae. The younger male looked at Jaebum with confusion as he sat on the couch. The math started to solve itself in JB's head as he thought of the situation.
Bambam + His Place = The whole 'squad' crashing over, eating HIS pizza, and ruining his alone time with Youngjae...
Jaebum groaned.
"Yeah, sure, fine, it's whatever, cool, okay." He ended the call. He was concerned for his best friend, but this was the absolute WORST time for this to happen...
---
It ended up just like how he predicted.
Math doesn't lie... Jaebum thought as he witnessed Jackson, Mark, and Youngjae comfort the lanky boy while he wept.
Jaebum sighed. Sure, the situation did irritate him because of its bad timing, but at the end of the day Bambam was his best friend and best friends are there for one another...
Even if it meant eating his pizza as they discussed his tragic condition.
"Bambam, calm down so you can tell us what happened."
"Jesus man you cry more than a girl these days-"
"Jackson shut up for once oh my god."
Jaebum looked at them as they bickered. He decided to leave them for a while so he could go collect a glass of water from the kitchen to hand it to the crying Thai male.
"Here Bambam," Jaebum passed the glass towards him and Bambam held it gladly. "Just take some deep breaths, drink this water, and tell us when you're ready."
With that, Bambam did what he was told and spilled everything to them. He talked about the whole gang thing with Jungkook, he explains who Namjoon is, and he talks about their plan on getting revenge on Yugyeom.
"And I'm so scared," Bambam sniffed. "I just got Yugyeom, I don't want to lose him..."
Bambam rambled on again from there how his relationship hasn't been progressing well and how he feels like he still can't give Yugyeom everything. He explains that he's holding back but he doesn't know why.
The group is stunned silent from this information. How could all of this happen so quick? Here they are, living normally, going out, having fun, and progressing their own relationships, while Bambam is experiencing a whole different world from theirs. They almost don't know what to say to cheer up the fragile guy.
"Bambam, I think you should talk about this more to Yugyeom. I feel kind of uncomfortable that you are telling us all of these things without him knowing. I know that we are your friends and you feel better telling us, but this is something you two need to discuss..." Youngjae gathered the courage to give his outsider advice amongst the familiar group of best friends.
"I agree. How would you feel if I were to talk about your life without someone knowing?" Jaebum backed up Youngjae's proposal.
"They are right," Mark spoke up. "Remember how he acted in the mall when he found out I knew everything? We don't want that to happen again."
"Where is Yugyeom anyways?" Jackson asked Bambam.
"He's at dance practice." Bambam sniffed.
"This late?" Jaebum grabbed a slice of pizza and took a massive bite out of it.
"No, he did go at a different time. He changed it after he found out about Namjoon..."
"What does Namjoon have to do with him dancing?"
"He takes dance lessons with him..."
The group was stunned.
"What in the actual f-" Jackson started but was cut off immediately.
"Are you serious?" Jaebum's eyebrows went up. Bambam nodded. "Wow, that's ironic..."
"What a small world... ha..." Youngjae tried to lighten up the mood. Jaebum nodded and finished up his slice.
"Right? But if I had to give you any advice for you strange situation, I would tell you to stay away from these guys and call the police." Mark steers the conversation back to the topic at hand. "Also, don't force anything between your relationship with him. Anything forced isn't real. Things will come naturally with time if it was made to be."
"Do you want to be with Yugyeom?" Jackson inquired.
Bambam nodded gingerly.
"Well, things will work out in the future."
"But it's so hard..." Bambam turns timid, as if he wanted to coward away and hide from the world.
"Yes, but the reward at the end is exceptional and long lasting." Jaebum turned soft as he explained to Bambam. He took a quick glance towards Youngjae. "You'll be astonished and satisfied that you've made the right choice."
Bambam warms up at the thought.
The door bell rings unexpectedly, ruining the mood. Jaebum stands up.
"Who else is coming?" He wondered out loud. The others just murmured to themselves, trying to guess who it is and claiming they don't know themselves either.
He goes and opens the door. Yugyeom stands there looking tired and worn out, making Jaebum remember that he was at dance practice.
"So, I'm having more company?"
"Nah, I came here to pick up Bambam." Yugyeom shook his head and looked over Jaebum's shoulder. The older male assumed that he was looking for the guy to take him home.
"Bambam, Yugyeom is here to get ya!" Jaebum turned around and walked back to the living room. Yugyeom followed him in. The group decided to converse with their new guest, but soon enough he was on his way with Bambam. Now there were only four.
"Poor Bambam." Youngjae was the first to speak. Mark and Jackson looked at him.
"Yeah. But I have a feeling that he's going to be fine." Jackson waved it off.
"He legit knows someone who wants to murder his boyfriend because of a crazy ex's revenge." Jaebum reminded the lot.
"Don't forget Yugyeom has dance class with Namjoon too." Youngjae added.
"Even if there are a lot of risky factors in their relationship, I think they will pull through." Mark stood up. "We know that Bambam has been through a lot, and Yugyeom knows some knowledge about these types of things too. If they love and support one another and fight their hardest to keep on moving forward, they will be alright. All they gotta learn is to work on their relationship and quit running away from their problems."
Jackson stood up and nodded. "Bambam needs to fight for Yugyeom because that man is a snack."
Youngjae laughed at his joke. Thanks for Jackson, the mood lightened up a bit. Jaebum smirked as he watched Mark pout.
"I'm a snack too babe!" Mark complained.
"We can talk about that later." Jackson avoided the conversation. "See ya later Jaebum and Youngjae!"
Jaebum sighed. "Alright see you guys." He led them to the door as Mark and Jackson bickered to each other about Mark's handsomeness.
Before Jaebum kicked them out of his place, Jackson felt the need to holler out:
"Don't forget the condoms and lube before you do the nasty!"
Jaebum slammed and locked the door. His cheeks turned red. Did Youngjae hear that? He hopes that he hasn't. Dread fills his body as he walks back into the room. To his surprise, Youngjae was watching TV, minding his own business. It seemed like he didn't hear anything.
Thank god, Jaebum thought. He couldn't bear the embarrassment if Youngjae heard Jackson's stupidity.
Alas, everything was tranquil again. All of the busy and stressful energy flowed out, replacing it with a soothing feel. Jaebum went to go sit by Youngjae, who smiled at him. Maybe things will go smoothly like it was before everyone decided to loiter here.
Finally, it's just us two...
"So," Jaebum looked at the empty box on the coffee table that used to contain their three meat pizza. "Want to order another box?"
