Chapter Six

You pulled open the door to the restaurant, letting David walk in before you as he laughed. You followed him in the doors and walked to the greeter.

"Hi, what can we do for you today?" the small brunette asked brightly, pulling out her notepad.

David glanced at you before speaking, "We'd like to dine in," she nodded "table for two?" you nodded and smiled softly at her. Davids hand wrapped around yours quickly, in a friendly matter of course.

"I can do that for you, right this way" She waved her arm forwards, beckoning us as she began walking. David began moving so you quickly matched your footsteps to his, glancing around the restaurant.

The waiter stopped at a booth table, turning to look at you expectantly, "Thank you," David started but she turned to look at you intensely, the energy she once carried completely switching; you felt afraid. "Do you not know how to speak? Cmon say thank you to your waitress."

Your eyes widened in fear as your chest began to constrict, all of a sudden it was like you couldn't get any air in and you were drowning helplessly in time. You were just staring at her eyes, they were so beady and terrifying as they looked into your soul.

Closing your eyes harshly, you began counting to 10 as everything slowly became bearable again. You could breathe again, and you opened your eyes to see a very worried looking David and a confused waitress.

What just happened?

You smiled softly to David and patted his shoulder, before looking at the waitress. You dropped your head in an apology before moving to sit down.

"Thank you, you're very kind." David spoke to the lady as he took a seat with you.

She handed you your menus casting worried glances towards you, but you were smiling and looking normal again so she had nothing to worry about.

"Could i get you started off with a drink?" She spoke softly, after gaining her composure back. David looked at you, you and him had talked about how you were selectively mute, and he was asking if you'd like him to talk for you.

You sheepishly nodded and he smiled caringly, offering you his hand under the table. You grabbed it thankfully, "Oh yes, can i get an orange soda, and can he get a water?" David spoke to the brunette, who quickly scrawled it out on her notepad.

"I'll have it sent to you, ill be back for your meal orders in a bit." She smiled and left you both alone, you let go of Davids hand and looked up to meet his eyes. "Thank you." You spoke softly, loud enough for only him to hear.

David smiled and started playing footsies with you, "of course, i'm just glad you are able to trust me enough to do this."

You blushed softly and laughed, pulling up your menu to figure out what you wanted to order. David reached forward and pulled the menu down a bit so you could see his eyes, "Y/N, can I tell you something?"

Your eyebrows furrowed and you nodded letting the menu fall to the table, you tilted your head giving him your full attention.

He chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck, "I might have a crush on you," you snorted softly slamming a hand over your mouth, he glared at you playfully. "Listen, crush is still a valid term used when talking about people."

You just laughed some more against your hands, "im being entirely serious right now though," he added. You smiled and offered him your hand, "ill give you an answer when we get back to my home. I want to just enjoy this time right now as is, with you."

David nodded, "that sounds alright." You smiled.

It was coming to the end of your dinner and you guys were absolutely intoxicated with each other. The bill was placed after David had got up to use the restroom, so you quickly paid and collected your things.

David came back and after finding out you paid for the meal he chastised you.

"We should have split the bill," he lectured. You smiled at him and just took his hand, nodding along as he spoke to you.

He ended his rant with, "I'll pay next time." You looked into his eyes and smiled, "next time?"

David nodded, "yes next time, which im hoping will be soon."

You laughed and patted his shoulder, "we'll see once we get back to my home."

"Right you have to tell me something," David mumbled, "it's nothing bad right?" he questioned wearily.

You nodded "mhm, its nothing bad i don't think." That answer didn't calm his nerves but helped simmer them a bit.

The door creaked open when you pushed it, you kicked off your shoes and placed your jacket in the wardrobe. David following suite, you took his hand and dragged him to the couch sitting you both down.

He smiled nervously as you guys kept eye contact.

"So, what is it?" He asked, breaking the silence.

You took a deep breathe, "You gotta promise to try and understand from my perspective first, okay?" You put out your pinky, and he locked his with yours, "of course Y/N."

"I know you're online identity," You began, his eyebrows furrowing quickly as he pushed back from you a bit. You felt nervous all of a sudden, "but I am not a fan, im actually a friend of yours."

Davids eyes widened slightly, as he connected all of the dots. "So you're.." he began slowly, "Cherry?" He finished, and you nodded.

"Prove it." He stated, and you chuckled lightly looking at the Barney suit behind the stairs and pulled out your phone.

"Have you seen my new video?" You asked him quickly, tapping on your phone to pull it up. "The house tour one? No, i didn't see it."

You pouted, "loser watch my videos, i watch yours." You stuck out your tongue at him, and brought your phone up. The video playing, it started facing a blank wall and Y/Ns voice belted out from behind the screen.

David was enraptured by your video, it was clearly this home and seeing the Barney costume really made it come together in his head.

He looked you up and down, you're cheeks heating up. "I still have a crush on you." He stated quickly, and you belted out another laugh this time he joined in with you. You were falling off the couch holding your stomach you were laughing so hard.

Regretfully, David said he couldn't spend that night at my place and said he'd take a raincheck on that. You'd wished him farewell and laid in your bed that night with the weight of hiding your identity off of your chest.

"Siri?"

bright blue light

and Davids voice filled the room, sending you into a peaceful sleep and a night of good dreams.
