Two.
DAISY'S POV
My heart was racing like crazy just being that close to him. It was the closest I had been to Mr Universe. Not that he had that title, but he'd won numerous titles as the most good-looking guy in college. And had left a legacy back in high school being the most dashing prom king.
"Be my date at Stacy's party tomorrow night."
Every part of my body iced. Had he? No, he was playing with my head. I just stared up, my neck now adapting to always being angled to look at the male.
"Sorry, I got plans." I jumped for the silver keys but he darted up the hand. I ended up spooning at his frame.
Alex gazed down, he slid a hand in my hair before cupping my jaw. I wanted to move away but had no will to fight the chemistry.
His warmth through the green shirt felt just right. And when he bent to bury his nose in my neck, I let out a whimper darting aside. With the distraction, I grabbed the keys and ran away like a silly kid after facing a crush.
Later in the night, I received a text from Alex. My heart started thudding just seeing his name on the screen.
What was happening to me?
What was wrong with Alex?
He had never texted before. Only made a few calls some months ago enquiring about Stew's whereabouts.
Alex: So you down for it or what?
I stopped to think for some seconds.
Me: Where's your girlfriend, Nora?
A reply hit back almost immediately.
Alex: I want you.
Me: Go to hell.
I rudely thrust the phone to the other side of the bed to concentrate on the video playing on my laptop. Nothing interesting, just a comedy a friend had recommended.
Buzz!
"Argh! Leave me alone Alex."
"Stew!" I quickly received the call, "Hey Ste-" "It's Mr Universe."
"Alex!" I hissed bitterly.
"Just listen up Miss Boring, I'm not asking you out for any personal reason, I just have nobody to go with." "Oh nothing personal there I see."
He huffed and I rolled my eyes wishing he could see it. "I have a boyfriend Alex. So that's not-" "So you want the hard way... I got something you would love."
I frowned, suddenly feeling awake and breathing. "What do you me-"
I heard my voice from his end. 'sorry, I got plans.'
"Then comes the part where you gaze up at me like you want me to kiss you. I'll release this video on the internet if you don't come."
"You're a devil!" I yelled crying.
The damned male just laughed. "Try me, Daisy. Everyone in college will think, we're dating. And trust me, I'll make it look so real-"
I wiped the tears. "Okay, okay. I'll come. But only if you hand over that video." Alex sighed contented. He was satisfied. Very, very satisfied. "I'll be at your house before you even know it."
"Don't dare come here!"
"Oops." The doorbell rang. "Just rang the bell. You should have warned me earlier."
Mom was answering the door by the time I shot from my room and down the stairs... The tall blond stepped in smiling at her warm welcome. Knowing too well I'd be there, Alex's eyes shot up to me standing on the stairs. He let an evil grin surface. As if daring the devil in me to its limits.
The beautiful butterflies that always corrupted my insides at his presence shot again... I suddenly felt full and bloated like a weirdo.
Mom turned to me, "Oh, you're even here." I forced a smile at her.
"Tina? Who's at the door?" Dad's yell came from the lounge.
"It's Alex honey. The cute college guy Stewart had brought home a year ago." "Mom!" I whispered feeling extremely humiliated.
Glancing at him, he grinned. Obviously enjoying the praise.
"I'll leave you two to talk. Alex dear, you're welcome to spend some time with us." "Thank you, Mrs Wilson."
In a heartbeat, she vanished in the lounge after shooting me an encouraging glance.
My arms crossed beneath my chest. Hoping the top hadn't ridden up to expose my navel in any way.
"Why are you here Alex?"
His lips curved downwards significantly. "Wanna go out for a walk?" "Don't be stupid, it's nine, it's late."
He hauled me out without permission. Exercising rights like he owned me.
"I'll screa-" Alex covered my mouth before pushing me in his car against my will. Damn him! Was it a kidnap? He shut my door and rushed to the driver's door. I tried unlocking it to run. And when he opened the driver's, I quickly crawled to slip out but Alex pressed me back in. His body blocked the only exit in sight before he drove away.
I punched the window angrily.
"Let me out, Alex!"
"Shut up Miss Boring. I'm not kidnapping you." He took a turn, heading for his house. What was he doing?
The car rode past his neighborhood to head downtown. Only stopping outside a boutique. "What's this Alex?"
He stepped out and opened my door. "I'm getting you a cute dress. You suck at fashion Missy."
I offered a scowl allowing his hand to lead me in the brightly lit shop.
I didn't mind the fact that I was only in a loose top and a pair of baggy sweatpants and slippers. Well, if that doesn't bother Alex, why would it affect me?
Pairs of eyes remained glued on us as we made our way to the dresses. The probing stares made me want to squeeze myself inside Alex and disappear there.
"This one looks cute." He pointed at a short purple dress with a low neck. It'd spill my breasts in a single bend. "I hate the neck, and it's too short."
Regardless of my protests, Alex asked me to try it.
Why was the changing room so warm? No, it was just me. The shyness had smothered itself all over me in such strong heat.
Alex was seated on a couch when I stepped out. Like a predator, his eyes devoured me hungrily. Mostly the legs and the cleavage. "My oh my, who ever knew you had such attractive legs? I love it." "I am not wearing this thing!" Cried plucking at the hem. "I'm not comfortable. Besides, I'm not going there to seduce anyone or yearn for any attention." "Mmm... Good point, but on the second statement. I'd love to see you seducing some random guy."
That little thought had me full of butterflies again.
Would he make me do that?
After trying out some three other dresses, we found one that fit our tastes. It was a deep shade of pink and slightly above the knees, sleeveless with a decent neck. Its hem was lined with white and black strips that made it so Barbie and gorgeous... It cost him some zeros. Leave alone the expensive yet unnecessary blue boots he bought me.
Alex watched till I got in the house...
As soon as I was in my bedroom, I stared down at him from the balcony. And he sent a flying kiss that I returned with my middle finger. "Good night. And don't bother me till tomorrow night."
"Just be ready by six. I'll be here for you." "Whatever!" I yelled then disappeared to the room.
