Thirty One.
DAISY'S POV
I panicked looking at the small things sleeping in the double cots.
They were my babies. My own kids.
If anyone would tell me I'd give birth at twenty three, I'd have gawked at her like a extinct species.
I still had the butterflies. How would I face my family? Would they accept what I had brought in this world? Who would help me raise them? Who would be their father?
A month ago, I had woken from a coma I'd fallen when I was a month pregnant. Those two angels had fought and survived as their mommy laid on a bed, half dead. Their father, hadn't survived. Alex didn't fight, he just let go when I was busy giving birth to his legacies.
No! I'd never have let him touch them.
And maybe, it was best the way things had turned out.
Yet deep down, there was this silent piercing ache that kept slicing through everything to my soul. Alex wasn't supposed to die.
No matter how much I had hated him for getting me pregnant and screwing my life, my heart still beat for him. It's like he never left, like he was still with me. With us, our babies.
I caressed little Jonie's face, then Jenie's.
"Your daddy's gone. But mommy is here. She'll protect you, she'll look after you both. She might have fallen for a badass, but he left her two most beautiful creatures. I love you both."
I didn't struggle with the tears.
Just let them flow.

But this was for the best.
I was dead to her. To our, my kids, to my family, to...Daisy.
How could a silly crush turn to something so intense and complicated?
I had started the game, and it was still me that pulled the shots and ended it.
I knew her life would never be the same. But, at least she'd move on. She'd be happy with whoever would come next.
Wiping off the tear that had sneaked from my right eye, I shut the laptop and tilted my head to the man tied up on a chair.
His eyes bulged while I pushed my wheelchair to him.
"None of us will have Daisy, brother."
He mumbled under the cloth in his mouth. Wriggled as I raised the silencer at him.
"I warned you not to mess with her. You caused her pain through me. You tortured Daisy, my Daisy. You don't deserve to live if I'm dead to her." I snarled bitterly. I watched Vince's eyes get even wider...then boom!
I fired...
