Nine.

What are you doing Daisy? He only wants to use you! An inner voice snapped. And that's all it took to come back to my senses.
I knocked Alex off of me. Wiped his kisses from my lips. "Leave! I will not be one of your feel-good-and-dump victims Alex!" I condemned in such a loud voice.

"Daisy! Shh!"
"Don't tell me to shush you bas-" "Daisy!" Mom's cry from outside interrupted. Endless knocks followed.

And I just wished they'd find the damned male in my room and skin him.
But he ran out through the window before my parents opened the door.

Mom dashed in carrying a baseball bat, while dad had a rifle ready to blow someone's brain. "Oh Daisy!" She whined dropping to sit on the bed.
"Mom!" I  sighed accepting her hug. "Why were you screaming?"

I looked to the open windows. He was still there, I could see a bit of his shadow falling on the dancing curtains.
   Dad switched on the lights.
"Is it a burgl-" "No, no. I... It was a nightmare. It scared me."

         They both sigh in relief.
Mom kissed my forehead. "I'm so sorry we burst in your room. We thought-"
  "No-no. Please don't apologise mom."
Dad set the rifle on the empty part of the bed and sat beside mom. He smiled proudly. "I'd have sent someone to a grave tonight."

I chuckled nervously. If he had seen Alex, only heaven knows what would have happened to him... As much as I hated his pride and good looks, I'd not wish him any harm. He was still Stew's best friend and housemate.
"Do you want me to sleep here to-" "Oh don't bother mom. I'm no longer scared. I'm sure that nightmare won't come back after witnessing just how you both can hurt him." I stated gazing at the windows.

    Was I being sarcastic?
"Him?" Dad repeated.
My brain shrugged to that traitorous word. "It was a...a mon-ster. You know, in the night-"
      "Ooh." Mom smiled rising.
"Okay Daisy, get some rest."

I exhaled deeply after they both vanished out.
After locking the door, I rushed to the curtains. Alex was gone. Of course, he'd not stick around or I'd have beaten the life out of him.

After crossing the law the previous day, almost making out with Mr Universe and having my parents worried about the 'nightmare', I wanted to lay low today.

It was a holiday, hurray. But that'd only mean one thing, attending some college party. And the council already had everything ready. From the drinks, to the entertainment... So unlucky for me that I hadn't had the chance of being in that council. But maybe next year when I'd be in my second year.
      "Daisy!"
A yell came from the hallway. Certainly not mom, or dad. Both had gone out for some couple's fun outing with their friends. Leaving me all alone in the house.

    "Ooh Daisy!' It came again.
Feminine, sweet, calm...Windy.
I popped my head from my room. " Oh gawd! Don't tell me you duplicated my key?"
She laughed stopping a few inches away. "But I did... Figured out your mom would want me away from you after last night."
I eyed her questioningly, "I'm sure this dup-" my eyes fell on the silver key in her hand,"-isn't a today's work."

She rolled her eyes dismissively. "Cut the crap now. Get ready, we need to go shopping."

I groaned opening the door wide open, giving her access to come in my messy room.
There were some dirty clothes on the floor. "Don't mind the room, I was just getting started."

Windy giggled plonking herself on the unmade bed. "Why is your bed ever so soft and comfy?"
"Ah! Make yourself comfortable. I'll just, clean up."
"Whatever. Your mess, your responsibility."

She seemed rather happy today! I didn't bother asking her a thing. Besides, Windy had a lot of adventures for one person to handle. And showing interest in them only meant I'd have to venture in them.

The mall was too busy today. With the national holiday thing, it was expected... But what I didn't expect was, bumping into Alex.
I quickly jumped to the next aisle before he could see me.
"Er... Daisy? Mind telling me what's-" "It's Alex. I can't let him-"
"See you!" Her eyes were angled directly over my head. My moods dropped in a heartbeat. "He's seen me, hasn't he?"

"Yep... And is walking right to us."
"Argh!" I whined turning around. "Why do I have to- Oh look, it's you again, Mr Universe!" I spat with heavy sarcasm, pushing a fake smile to annoy him.
"Oh! Daisy? Hadn't seen you there. But you can't blame me, your girlfriend has trapped me already." He said grinning at Windy.

That wasn't supposed to sting, but it did. Come on, Alex had a real reputation of a successful player. If he'd fallen for Windy, I wasn't supposed to be surprised.
But it was Windy that surprised me. The coy grin, the shade of pink so visible. It all made me want to drop dead. She'd also fallen for his charms.

         Ooh!
I wanted to slap her out of the fairytale. He'd only use her.

"Whatever, Windy and I have no business with-"
"Daisy!" She cried when I tugged her arm. "We can hang out with you for a while, if you want it."

My jaw literally dropped. This wasn't happening.
    I looked up at Alex.
His eyes were trained on me. "Do you perhaps have an objection? I'm asking Windy out, and also you."

Well, I had nothing to do for the whole day. And a simple fun wouldn't hurt... So I agreed.

Before I could wrap my head to what was going between the two, I was seated on the rear seat. With Windy at the passenger seat.
Then we were in the funfair, riding the rollercoaster and merry-go-round. Eating ice cream and cotton candy.
All through the hours, Alex had his full attention on Windy. It felt like I wasn't even in the picture.
More like an invisible third wheel or a tail.

As they took a bench to continue their discussion, I quietly slid from there.
Just like a drenched sheep my spirit lowered to the underground.

I should have accepted from the beginning that the likes of Alex were out of my league...
