ALEX'S POV
He grabbed her hand, but I yanked Daisy to stand behind me.
Stew was drunk.
"Heck man! Drank too mu-" "Shut up! You kissed my sister you-" He sent a fist but I dashed and miss it.
"Stewart!' Daisy cried rushing to help the fallen body. " You allowed him to-" "She's not a child Stewart." I squatted to the siblings, tucking a hand below his shoulder to pull him up.
Stew quickly wriggled to get away from me. "Don't even touch me you..." Daisy yelped when he dropped unconscious. Almost hauling her with him but I yanked the female. "We need to take him home."
"Relax baby. I'm used to handling this drunk skunk," I joked lifting the body and hanging him on my shoulder. Wasn't so heavy, besides, I carried him almost every time he got drunk at parties or bars.
Daisy followed behind till we were in the lot. She opened the rear door and I plonked him on the seat. I heard her let a little squeak at the action. "He won't get hurt, geez, you're so protective."
After shutting the door, I faced the girl. She grabbed the neck of my shirt and hauled me down to her. "I hate every inch of you Alex. Somehow, I always end up in trouble around you. After this night, never call or text me. Never talk about this night in your entire damn life." Wow. She was really flamed up for someone so tiny.
"Well," I peeled off her frail hands and straightened. "Until the end of it, I can do as I please."
Daisy punched my chest before turning, "Damn you Alex!"
I grabbed her hand and snatched her to myself... She gasped. But not for long, I had our lips locked tight. For some strange reason, I was finding it so addictive to kiss her.
Sure it had only been a few kisses, but heck, she tasted so innocent, and the fine temper only added some icing on the addiction.
"Ale-" Daisy purred in the kiss.
Suddenly, someone hauled her from me and a slap rang in the air...
I had been slapped, not Daisy, thank God. But who had... "So this is what you've been doing Alex? Picking some random girl and using her like you used me?"
My past...
I scratched the back of my skull staring at Anna. "You!" "Yes, me, Anna Bruce. And guess what, I'm here to make you take your responsibilities as a father."
"Father!" Daisy snapped behind Anna. "Alex who is she-"
"Stay out of this you bitch!"
"Hey, don't talk to her like that!"
My temper just shot up. Just because I dumped her, didn't give her a single right to disrespect Daisy. "Now get out of he-" "Oh shut up Alex! Remember we dated a year ago?"
"Dated!" Daisy echoed shocked. "Oh god." She ran a hand through her hair exhaling. "You know what Alex, sort this out with your ex, or girlfriend or whatever she is."
Without a care, Daisy reached for her coat from the car and started for the cabs.
"Really Anna?"
She grinned stupidly at me. It had all been staged. All to drift Daisy from me. Not that I loved or wanted to make her my girl, but at least I didn't want her making the wrong picture about my personality.
And Anna might have succeeded... The cab drove away before I could get to Daisy.
"Fuck!"
Suddenly, hands slid around my waist from behind. "Let's go somewhere and have fun Alex. You know I still love you."
"Take your love and shove it in the toilet."
I slipped from her hold and hurried for the car.
* * *
"She's uptight to be honest. A little vulnerable at times. But sweet in the inside when she wants to." Daisy's mom explained as we had tea in the lounge... After having a talk with her, I learnt a lot of things about Daisy I had no idea of.
Like the fact that she could sing. A lover of dolls since a baby.
Almost too soon, the white door opened and Daisy pushed in carrying a huge bouquet that blinded her vision. "Mom? A little help." "Oh sweetheart." Instead of her mom, I rose to relief Daisy the burden... She sighed. But it was cut half when our gazes collided.
"I don't think Stew's home." It was a flat tone. No excitement nor a hint of gladness.
"I came to see your mom."
"Yes honey, or do you have a problem with him visi-" "No, no, mom. It's your house..." Her eyes returned to me. Before she took back the flowers. "Thanks for nothing. Enjoy your time with mom."
"But Daisy, won't you join us?" Tina asked halting to my left. "Thanks mom. But I got an exam to study."
We watched her struggle to climb the stairs. One time missing a stair and almost tripping. But her pride was too high to allow her to fall.
She glared down at me before disappearing.
"You should go talk to her Alex. She seems pretty mad at you."
I glanced at the young woman giving me permission yet again to go to her daughter's room. "Okay. But I need to use your kitchen. I'd like to make her a healthy sandwich."
Tina smiled giving my back a slight pat. "Anything to make my gal happy lad."
