Heart to heart
Fitz POV
"Excuse me?" The voice I had heard from TVs countless times before asked.
I turned around to look the man, the myth, the legend, in the eyes, "Yeah, what's up?"
"I and Bruce just wanted to have a little talk, you know, scientist to scientist," Stark said.
"Uh... ok, should I get Simmons?" I asked him.
"No, no, that's not necessary, we just wanted to talk to you about a project you and someone by the name of Holden Radcliffe have been working on recently?" Stark stated more as a question at the end of the sentence.
I gulped and nodded. How did they even know about AIDA? I mean, we're almost done, but how still?
"Want to go somewhere more private?" Bruce asked coming up behind Tony.
I nodded as Tony lead bruce to a secluded area, me trailing behind them, eyes on the floor.
When we got there, Tony and I took the two desk chairs whereas Banner took the sofa.
"So..." Stark started, "We know you've been working on a project called AIDA, an LMD am I right?" He paused to look at me questioningly so I nodded. "You've most likely seen the footage of Sokovia?" I nodded. "Then you know that Banner and I have had some experience with super bots."
"Well, this is a bit different don't you think, we're not trying to build a super bot to 'protect the world' or whatever, we're just trying to get something that can run back-end on missions," I explained, causing Banner to put his head in his heads.
"Look, if someone told me a year or so ago that the robot I was planning to make would turn on me and all the Avengers and try to destroy the World, I wouldn't have believed it for a second," Tony stated.
"I know but-"
"AIDA may have had both you and Radcliffe's minds put into it, but bear in mind, both I and Stark made Ultron, as well as Jarvis, and then Ultron tried to kill everyone." Banner interrupted.
I looked down as I contemplated what he meant. Two minds did help, but they had two of the smartest on the planet and an AI. Maybe we people should really start paying more attention to the Terminator movies.
"What are you saying?" I finally asked after two minutes, sliding down in my chair slightly.
"That, maybe, you should call AIDA off, leave super bots for later on in the timeline, for other generations, when they have the mastered technology and resources that won't be around for decades," Tony said.
"Suppose that Terminator wasn't so Science-Fiction after all," I joked, causing them both to chuckle.
"Yeah..." Tony agreed
After about three minutes of silence, I declared, "I'm gonna call Radcliffe, tell him AIDA is a bad idea."
"Stay here, put it on speaker?" Tony asked.
I nodded in agreement and sat back down, dialing Radcliffe.
As soon as Radcliffe picked up, I didn't even give him a chance to answer before I said, "Radcliffe we need to call of AIDA, I think it's a bad idea, remember what happened with Ultron, and all the Terminator movies. There are so many warnings maybe we should-"
I was cut off by an unfamiliar female voice, "Hello?" They asked.
"Uh, hi, who is this?"
"Oh, I'm AIDA," Causing us all to freeze and tense, he finished her? "Radcliffe can't come to the phone right now."
"Why?" I asked, agitated that Radcliffe had finished it already.
"I can't tell you that Leo Fitz, not when you want to shut me down so bad."
"What?" I quickly came up with a lie, "I would never want to shut you down, just tweak your programming so it's the best it could be."
"I'm sorry Leopold but I don't believe you. After all, you were just saying, 'we need to call off AIDA' that means put an end to the project."
"Yeah, yeah yeah, for now. That's what I meant, just call it off for now whilst we check your programming and tweak what may need to be fixed or adjusted."
Tony and Bruce looked proud of my lying skills, and it would be a lie if I said I wasn't happy about it.
"Ok then," AIDA agreed, "I'll believe you. You were after all my creator."
"Yeah, alright. Bye AIDA."
"Bye," She responded before hanging up.
I turned to the others, "Well... that's fantastic," I remarked sarcastically.
We broke off into some other conversation for the next while.
"We can deal with Radcliffe and AIDA another day, right now we should probably turn in since we have been talking for hours now," Stark said yawning and looking at his watch.
"Alright, night," Bruce said.
"Night," I said before walking off to find Jemma, and have the long-awaited conversation of AIDA. Jem and I talked about AIDA, and why I did it for around three hours, before breaking off into one of our science conversations.
What we didn't realize was that we were up until 3:00 am, and we ended falling asleep on the guest room Strange gave us, Jemma snuggled up against my side, with my arm around her like a one-armed hug, which is how we woke up th next morning at 10:00 am.
