I really hope you enjoy this long over-due chapter! Enjoy!
Robbie POV
"Hey, Gabe," I said as I appeared behind the couch he was watching the news on.
"AHHH!!!!" Gabe screamed, "What the hell Robbie!?! Where have you been!?!"
"Uh, out?" I suggested weakly.
"Out?!? OUT!?!" Gabe yelled, "YOU'VE BEEN GONE FOR TWO DAYS AND THE BEST YOU HAVE IT 'OUT'!?!"
"Ok, ok, calm down, yes, that was a very lame attempt at justifying why I've been gone, I know. It's... I can't explain," I said.
"Nuh-uh, you don't get to disappear for two days, without any warning and just say 'I can't explain', you are telling me what happened," Gabe said slightly more calm than before.
"Look... I wish I could but-"
"I don't want your excuses, Robbie!" Gabe interrupted.
I took a deep breath.
"Look, something happened with Dai-Quake and she needed help, that's where I was ok?" I asked.
"'Dai'?" He repeated.
"Quake's name is Daisy but I don't think she told you so I called her Quake," I explained.
"....So....let me get this straight....you left hurriedly, without even leaving me with something like a note, or a text....for someone you met like....yesterday?" Gabe asked.
Well, when he says it like that... "Well, not yesterday but..yes," I answered.
Gabe gave me a knowing smirk.
"What?" I asked.
"Im not blind, Rob," Gabe replied.
"Wha- Oh wait... no don't even think that. Daisy? Nah," I disagreed.
"Come on, Robbie. You aren't fooling anyone," Gabe said, still smirking.
"Fooling anyone on what? I'm not lyin'," I argued, as I willed a blush away.
"Robbie your not even fooling yourself come on man," Gabe argued.
"Whatever," I said giving up and not really in the mood to argue. "So what have you been doing?"
"You mean besides worrying about you? Eh, studied a little," Gabe answered. "What's she like?"
"Gabe!" I scolded.
"Sorry not sorry," He said, "What happened? Is she okay?"
"She's fine, just was in a bit of a sticky situation," I answered.
He nodded his head and repeated, "What happened?"
"Uh... she was fighting the watchdogs," I said.
"Mhm..." Gabe said sceptically, "That it?"
"Yeah, or at least all you need to know."
"Thanks for all that information," he said sarcastically waving his hands at his side for dramatic effect.
"Oh shut up you."
"So, should I be expecting you to disappear back from where you came from in a puff of some any time soon?"
"Well, maybe not a puff of smoke."
"So you are gonna go."
"Yeah at some point...not today though, today's all for my little bro."
He pouted at that, "Hey, no fair, I'm not little."
"Dude, you're still in school, that's little in my books."
"Then you're gonna need to re-write those books. Oh, I'll help you, otherwise no one would be able to read it with all the spelling and grammar mistakes.
"Hey, I know I dropped out but it's not that bad."
"Eh, debatable."
I shook my head in exasperation.
"How would you feel about grabbing ice-cream?" Gabe asked after a minute.
"I was wondering why you were so quiet, usually cant get 10 seconds peace," I said as I grabbed the keys for my car and started walking to the door.
"Hey!" he said as he followed in his wheelchair.
Fitz POV
I woke up to Jemma laying her head on my shoulder with my arm around hers. My arm was hurting but I wasn't about to wake Jem up. I looked down at her sleeping face and a smile lightly grazed my lips. How did I end up here? With the most perfect person ever?
She stirred slightly as she looked sleepily up at me and a small smile came over her, God how did she get so beautiful? "Hey Fitz," she said tiredly.
"Hi Jem," I sleepily said back.
"What time is it?" She asked.
I yawned before answering and looking around, "I actually have no idea."
Jemma removed herself from my arm and reached for her phone on the table beside the sofa we were on.
"10am..."
10? Oops... "Oh... damn..."
"Well," She said stretching, "We should probably get up."
I hung my head tiredly, "Yeah..."
She stood up and made her way over to the bathroom presumably to shower. My theory was confirmed when I heard the shower start.
I stretched and yawned as I made my way over to my draw and got changed into this.
(That shirt, black jeans, black shoes)
She came out of the shower as I finished making tea.
She was wearing this.
(That shirt, black jeans, black boots)
"Well that was fast," I said whilst handing her a cup of tea.
"Thank you," She thanked as she took her cup.
I smiled at her in response, as we both sipped our tea.
"Plans for today?" She asked me after a bit.
"Dunno, probably something in the lab, that's is if Dr Strange is willing to send us back," I answered.
"What about AIDA?" She asked me.
"I have no idea, I don't know if anything went wrong," I said before making a decision, "...I'm going to call Radcliffe again today, see if he actually picks up and not AIDA, so he can at the very least send me the details of what he did."
"Mm," Simmons hummed.
"You can be there if you want? I'll put it on speaker," I said, getting the wrong impression.
"I'm not mad at you Fitz, well you should have told me, but still, I trust you," Jemma responded.
"What did I do to deserve you?" I asked.
"You are the greatest man in the world," She said with a smile.
After we finished our tea we left to go our separate ways. I went off to find somewhere as private as possible to call Radcliffe (or AIDA if she picked up instead) and I noticed Jemma go in the direction Daisy was last night.
Daisy POV
I woke up very drousy, but surprisingly fine (been better, been worse).
After about 5 minutes of clearing my vision, I heard someone open the door and looked up to it to see Simmons walking in the room with a smile on her face.
"Hey Daisy, how're you feeling?" She asked me.
"Surprisingly good actually," I answered honestly, though she still looked at me sceptically, "Really. I'm not sugar-coating this one."
She gave me a small smile, "Good, glad to hear it."
"How are you?" I asked her, causing her to look at me confused. "Well, I haven't really seen you in ages and the two times I have we were either fighting Watchdogs or planning on fighting Watchdogs."
"That is true, we haven't had much time to catch up at a have we?"
"No, we have not. So what's been going on with you?"
"Well... the new director of SHIELD is called Jeffery Mace, honestly we don't like him that much, Coulson wants to but we can all see he's not a huge fan of the man," Jemma explained, perking up a little. "I and Fitz were planning on having just a bunk on the base rather than a full apartment until Yo-Yo gave us the incredible idea of it."
"No way, you didn't already think of getting an apartment?"
"Nope! Then when Yo-Yo was tracking the person that killed her cousin she asked us when we were planning on moving in together in an apartment, I guess it only just then accured to me."
"Imagine that."
Simmons took a couple of seconds of silence before asking me a question, "What about you? What have you been up to?"
"Nothing really, just beating the crap out of Watchdogs, and missing you guys," I murmured the last bit under my breath but Simmons heard it as she smiled widely.
"We've missed you too Daisy... you could come back?"
"Really? SHIELD and an inhuman vigilante that has taken down banks?" I asked incredulously.
"I'm sure something could be arranged."
"We'll see about that Simmons, Director Mace doesn't seem to like me all that much...but if something does come up then I'll definitely give a hand."
"What about Robbie and Percy? When did you meet them?" she asked after a bit of silence.
"Met Robbie like a couple days ago and Percy right after I met Robbie. Me and Robbie got into a fight after he thought I was robbing a gas station with some of the guys he toasted (I was going to stop them then he came in and did the stopping for me) then Percy came after the fight and helped me out, but Robbie was already gone by that time."
"You said you met his brother?"
"Gabe, yeah, he seems like a good kid, I helped him out when like 10 watchdogs were after him."
"So you're a proper hero aren't you?"
"Don't think hero's the word people would use."
"Well, it's the word they should. They focus on the lives you've taken, not the lives you've saved because of those deaths. People are blind Daisy, you shouldn't listen to them."
"Yeah...I usually don't but-"
"Sometimes they can get under your skin, yeah I know, believe me."
I nodded in agreement.
"How's Mack? I kinda left him partnerless did someone else take up that spot?"
"Coulson sort of did but that was less partner than it was 'let's find Daisy because she's my daughter/sister'."
Those words caused me to smile.
"It was nice seeing you," Simmons said as she made her way to the door.
"You too." I agreed... "And I'm sorry." She froze, hand on the door handle. "For abandoning you guys... imagine that the person with abandonment issues abandoning someone, who would have thought?"
"You didn't abandon us, you just needed time," Simmons disagreed before she opened the door, stepped outside and shut it again.
Should I go back if I get the chance? Could I? Surely they wouldn't let me. I mean my team would forgive (already have) but the new director? Different story. It is true that they have become family. Maybe. Just maybe...I want to go back...
