Summer Day

"Magnus, wake up!" Alec jumped onto his boyfriend's bed causing him to bounce before opening his eyes and glaring. "We have to leave right now. Hurry!"

Alec leapt up off of the bed and spun in a circle to face Magnus again. He chucked a bag at Magnus that was already packed for him. "I have everything you need. Let's go. You don't even have to change. Just hurry."

"What is going on?" Magnus rubbed at his eyes and looked at the clock. "The sun isn't even awake, why are we?"

"Because we need to be," Alec grabbed the bag that he had dropped on Magnus and swung it onto his back. "Come on."

Magnus saw that his dresser and closet had been riffled through. He looked at his boyfriend who was jumping up and down with excitement. "How long have you been here?"

Magnus looked around and back to Alec. "And how did you get inside?"

"I learned how to from the Youtube. It's a thing that mundanes use. And I've been here only about an hour." Alec pulled the covers back and took Magnus's hand. "Let's go."

"Wait a second." Magnus pulled on Alec's hand making him sit down on the bed. "I have so many questions."

"You can ask them on the way." Alec kissed his cheek and pulled Magnus to his feet. "You're driving because I can't, well I can but not in a way that anyone likes."

Magnus laughed and let his boyfriend pull him through his apartment. The door had giant scores on the side by the lock. "I'm going to assume you used a screwdriver to shimmy the lock?"

"Sword. I didn't have one of those mundane tools. A sword is much more effective." Alec blushed when Magnus tried to close the door behind them and it simply hung halfway open still. "Maybe it would have been less damaging."

"Probably." Magnus did a quick spell to seal his door and shrugged. "So where are we going this early in the morning?"

"It's a surprise." Alec pulled a bandana out of his pocket as they got to the van that he had borrowed from Simon. "You'll be blindfolded."

"How will I drive then?" Magnus cocked an eyebrow at Alec as he got in the driver's side. Alec frowned as he considered his question.

"You're the high warlock of Brooklyn." Alec said sarcastically. "You can do anything."

"Yes, I am amazing and all-powerful," Magnus tapped his chin trying to find a way to make his point without admitting that he couldn't do something. "This is because I beat you at darts yesterday."

"Of course not," Alec said, it was though. "I'm not petty or crazy competitive at all. It was simply a game."

"Fine." Magnus turned so his back was to Alec. "Blindfold me. I'm the immortal one."

"I knew it." Alec smirked and tied the blindfold on him just as he realized that Magnus was as competitive as him. Alec was about to die. Alec considered conceding but he couldn't. He had to win this time!

"Keys?" Magnus held out his hand and Alec held them up, just out of his reach. This game of chicken was not going to end with Magnus winning. "Where?"

"Grab them." Alec snorted. "If you can't grab them, you can't-" Alec's jaw dropped when Magnus easily snatched the keys out of his hand. "By the angel," Alec muttered.

"You were saying?" Magnus had a cocky grin on his face as he turned the van on.

"Nothing. I'm just so excited." Alec beamed then remembered that Magnus couldn't see him. "Go out to the right."

"Of course." Magnus put the car into reverse instead of drive and slammed into a dumpster behind them. He whipped the blindfold off and checked to see what he hit.

"Ha!" Alec pointed at the dumpster and then Magnus. "I win! You suck!"

"You're the idiot who was going to let me drive blindfolded." Magnus laughed. "I don't think you really win."

"I do. I definitely do." Alec nodded and then pulled out his phone with the address already in the GPS. "Now go out to the right."

Magnus rolled his eyes but he was smiling. He took off and let Alec direct him for the next hour. "We're here." Alec said after having him pull off to the side of the road. "Change."

"Demanding much?" Magnus teased as he took his swimsuit from Alec.

"As winner for the day, I get to be." Alec puffed out his chest. "It's the way it should always be."

"You're getting close to being left to walk home, Alexander." Magnus looked slightly annoyed after getting into his swimsuit. Alec felt guilty so he leaned over the space between them and kissed him on the lips.

"Thank you for playing along." Alec smiled against his boyfriend's lips. "And for being a loser." Alec laughed and jumped out of the van running down the trail before Magnus could grab him. Magnus chased after him, not caring to even close the van door.

"Better run fast, Shadowhunter!" Magnus threatened as he sprinted after his boyfriend, the man he loved, and currently wanted to kill. Magnus saw a body of water ahead of them and took his chance. He made a portal in front of Alec around the bend and waited for his boyfriend to do the rest of the work.

"Cheater!" Alec shouted as he fell from the sky into the lake after running straight through the portal. Magnus slumped over laughing so hard he was struggling to breathe. Magnus walked slowly, knowing it would take Alec at least twenty minutes to swim all the way to the beach.

"I will kill you!" Alec hissed as he finally walked up to where Magnus was lounging on a towel that he had materialized. "Not right now. I'll wait; let you get-"

"By the angel!" Alec cursed as he was falling from the same spot in the sky yet again.

"I can do this all day, pretty boy!" Magnus yelled to him.

"Go ahead." Alec drew a rune and swam faster. "I'll have my revenge."

"Sure..." Magnus took a drink from the bottle of water that Alec had packed for him and took a bite of the sandwich just as the sun started to rise. It was a beautiful view. He found himself relaxing as he watched the swirling colors of the lightening sky. Magnus laid back on the towel, no longer able to keep his eyes open.

Alec waited in the water until Magnus was fully asleep. The sleeping pills in the water had worked perfectly. He got out of the water and set to work. He pulled out the battery operated clippers and turned them on. Next he blew up the air mattress and laid Magnus onto it. He slowly and smoothly pushed the mattress into the water and quietly kicked to push it out to where the current from the wind would take over for him. He watched as Magnus floated out into the middle of the lake and waited.

Alec took the time to read some of his book and to enjoy the rest of the sandwich. It would be another hour or so until Magnus would wake up and he needed to prepare for the war to continue. He would win.

"What the hell!" Magnus was standing on the mattress and stumbling. Still too drowsy to use his magic. "Alexander Gideon Lightwood!"

Alec was paddleboarding nearby. "Good morning beautiful." Alec winked as Magnus took a wrong step and fell face first into the water.

Magnus coughed as he broke the surface and ran his fingers over his head. "You didn't! Too far!" Magnus rubbed his now bald head. "You mess with a man's hair, you better be ready to die!"

Magnus swam faster than Alec thought possible towards him. Alec paddled quickly but Magnus grabbed the board and easily flipped him even as his hair appeared on his scalp again. "I'll get you, boy."

"Try." Alec wrapped his legs around Magnus and held his arms down.

Magnus leaned forward and bit Alec's ear. "Ouch." Alec touched his throbbing ear. "I'm sorry. Baby, I'm sorry, really." Alec started to plead as Magnus took control and held Alec's hands down.

"Alexander, you will be." Magnus chuckled.

"That was a great day," Alec hugged Magnus closer to him. After Magnus had dyed his hair pink and glittery Alec had conceded and they spent the next couple of hours actually having fun.

"It was." Magnus kissed him. "I especially enjoyed making out underwater. Very fun."

"And what happened next." Alec winked and blushed. "Uh-oh."

"What?" Magnus asked, looking at the road.

"The van is gone." Alec nodded to where it was supposed to be.

"I did leave it on and I think the door was open." Magnus winced.

"Damn." Alec frowned. "My jacket was in it."

"What are we going to tell Simon?" Magnus asked as he made a portal for them to get back to his apartment.

"Nothing. He's dead to us now." Alec shrugged. "We will never tell him anything or talk to him again."

"Works for me." Magnus laughed.
