6. Miranda

Answer: The roller coasters are great but I love the tower of terror/guardians of galaxy ride where you go up and down a bunch. It's so fun!

"Before we leave," Rafe said and looked nervous. "There's something else I need to tell you all."

"What?" Magnus asked and looked at Alec who shrugged.

"Well, we found another survivor," Catherine said after Rafe looked at her.

"That's great. Where are they?" Alec stood up slowly, still weak.

"She's over there." Catherine pointed to a bush. "She's healing but she's not awake yet."

"Why did you wait so long to tell me?" Magnus asked. "I could have helped her sooner."

"We were worried about Papa." Rafe frowned. "I used a rune on her and it seemed to help."

"She's a shadowhunter?" Alec and Magnus were both shocked.

"I think so." Rafe gave them another nervous look. Alec and Magnus both looked angry.

"Before you yell at him," Catherine interjected, "she was going to die. That was the only option we had."

"What if she had become a forsaken?" Alec demanded. "She could have killed us all."

"Now, you're just being dramatic." Rafe rolled his eyes. "She's barely my age. She's harmless."

"Take us to her," Magnus said, forcing himself to stay calm.

"Fine." Rafe stepped around the bush and went into a small cave. Max grabbed Magnus' hand and followed them inside.

Alec hissed when he saw the young girl, her wavy brown hair was covering her face, but he knew who she was. She was Miranda; she had to be. Her parents had been on a mission when they went missing. She had only been ten when they left, but they had taken her along. The whole institute had felt the pain of their loss. Her parents had been great warriors.

"Miranda?" He whispered as he knelt next to her and brushed the hair out of her face.

"Wait, are you saying this is Miranda?" Magnus knelt next to him.

"Who's Miranda?" Rafe asked, confused.

"I think she is." Alec nodded ignoring Rafe's confusion. "Was anyone else with her?"

"Not that we saw?" Catherine responded and touched Rafe's shoulder to stop him from asking who she was again. She lowered her voice. "Just give them a minute. Clearly, this is important."

"Fine" Rafe whispered back.

"Miranda, darling, wake up," Magnus whispered as he used his magic to heal her.

"Dad?" Miranda said then opened her eyes slowly. "Who are you?"

Her blue eyes got huge and she scuffled away from the people staring at her.

"Miranda, I'm Alec Lightwood," Alec said and he scooted closer to her.

She threw her arms out in front of her. "Don't come near me!"

"Miranda, I won't. Where are your parents?" Alec leaned back and Magnus touched his shoulder.

"How do you know my name?" Miranda asked. "I don't know you, any of you."

"I knew you when you were little. I was friends with your parents." Alec offered as an explanation.

"Where are they?" Miranda asked.

"We don't know. There was a plane crash. Were they on the plane with you?"

"Plane? No! We've been on this island for years. This is our home. Where are they?" She jumped up and held a sharp rock against Alec's throat. He motioned for the others to not react, but he could feel the spark of Magnus' magic behind him. "What did you do to my parents?"

"Nothing. Miranda, calm down. We're not here to hurt you. Where was the last place you saw them?" Alec asked her and he felt when she decided to trust him, her muscles relaxed but she kept the rock against his throat.

"We were fishing," Miranda said then her eyes started to go hazy. "Then we saw a plane coming at us. My dad, he threw me out of the boat. I remember them yelling at me to swim. I left them."

Alec wrapped his arms around her. "Listen, it's going to be okay. We'll go look for them. Catherine, can you get them home?"

Catherine nodded.

"No, we can help." Rafe declared.

"Me too." Max stood up tall.

"No, I need you to get home. I need to know that you're safe. Miranda, I want you to go with my sons and Catherine."

"No." Miranda pushed him away. "I'm not leaving without my parents."

"You were hurt." Alec motioned to the giant, healing gash on her leg. "They would want you to be safe."

"I don't care! I'm staying." Miranda crossed her arms.

"Fine. Stay in the cave, all of you." Magnus finally spoke up.

"No, we're helping." They all said.

Magnus waved his hand and there was a crackle in the air as wards popped up. "Stay."

"What did he just do?" Miranda looked terrified.

"He's a warlock." Max piped up and when she saw him she squealed.

"He's blue and he has horns!" She yelped and stood up backing up against the far wall of the cave.

"Yeah, they're  pretty cool right?" Max smiled up at her.

"Miranda, you do know what a warlock is, right?" Alec asked her. "I mean you're a shadowhunter."

"I'm a what?" Miranda started to shake.

"Did your parents not tell you?" Alec looked from her to Magnus. "Has her memory been wiped?"

"Not that I can tell, it's like she's suppressed it herself." Magnus looked confused. "Wait, Miranda, what's the last thing you can remember?"

"I told you. I was fishing with my parents." She demanded.

"No, you need to focus on it. What kind of boat were you on?" Magnus pressed her.

"I fishing boat." She rolled her eyes.

"Where did you get the boat?" Magnus asked.

"On the island. We've always had it." She said, but she didn't sound as sure of herself. "Or maybe that's how we got here?"

"Miranda, how long have you been on this island?" Magnus asked her stepping closer, his hand glowing blue.

"Forever." She said but this time it barely came out as a whisper.

"Alexander, we need to get home, now." Magnus opened a portal and used his magic to push the kids through before closing it.

"What is it?" Alec asked.

"It wasn't an accident, well the plane crash maybe, but Miranda she's been glamoured. I don't think her parents are alive, they probably died that night they went missing."

"Then what's going? Why would someone do this?"

"Warlocks sometimes get bored," Magnus offered.

"You think a warlock did this to her?" Alec asked.

"I know it and I know which one." Magnus frowned "Iris."

"She's in prison." Alec pointed out.

"Yeah, which is why Miranda's memories are falling apart. I bet you the spell was wearing off which is what caused the crash. It had to have been a strong one to keep her here for so long.

"Do you really think her parents are dead?" Alec asked with a frown.

"Yes, there's no way her parents would have stopped fighting. You knew them. You know it's true." Magnus said sadly.

"What are we going to do?" Alec asked.

"Well, for now, let's get home and help her out. Then, maybe we'll have a daughter I suppose." Magnus gave him a sad smile.

"We did always want a girl," Alec smiled back.

A/N Hope you liked it, Miranda! And I hope you all liked it! Next we're going to have some just silly, funny Malec oneshots with the other shadowhunters and characters.
