The ride home was squashed. Yoongi had borrowed his father's car to transport all of Hoseok's belongings, and to say it was uncomfortable would be an understatement. As comfortable as the car seats were, watching Hoseok's feet being consumed by boxes made him flinch slightly inside. It's not like they could put everything in the back, because there was boxes upon boxes of flowers and soil covering the seats.
"Why didn't your dad clean out the car, this is agonising." Hoseok complained for the third time since they had left Seokjin and (now) Namjoon's flat.
"Well it was really sudden, hey dad can I borrow the car? When? Tomorrow!" Yoongi spoke in a high, mocking voice, causing a chuckle to fall from Hoseok's lips.
"I guess the sunset can make up for it." Hoseok considered, tracing a finger along the car window and following the design of the orange sky.
"Should we stop at the beach? Rest our legs?" Yoongi pointed to a road sign, signalling the direction towards the beach. Honestly, he didn't like sand, but the beach would be the best place in the area to see the sunset properly, cascading across the ocean.
"Yes, please! That'll be awesome!" Hoseok's hands excitedly hit off his thighs, and Yoongi couldn't contain the little smile on his face. "We can see the sunset and lie on the beach and go in the ocean-"
"Now the ocean I'm not too sure about. Very cold." Yoongi visibly shivered at the vague thought of the water, especially when they're out at almost nine at night. Procrastination had gotten the better of the pair.
"It'll be fun though!" Hoseok whined, leaning a hand over to pull at Yoongi's arm, trying to persuade him. It was getting progressively harder to control the car, seeing as Yoongi wasn't the best driver and had to use two hands, and one was occupied by his boyfriend.
"Hoseokie, it'll be cold. Next time we go to the beach, we'll go during the day and go in the ocean. Yeah?" Yoongi didn't want to admit that he couldn't drive with one hand, so he tried, a progressively whitening hand gripping around the wheel.
"Hyung!" Hoseok's voice was raising and he was pulling rougher at his arm, jolting him slightly from his place. His heart rate was picking up, panic settling in when he swerved slightly unintentionally, nearly sending them straight into another lane, and potentially another car. "Careful!"
"It's fine." Yoongi demanded quickly, his words coming out with more venom than he intended. When Hoseok's hand and body began to withdrawal, he made a snap decision to put Hoseok in front of safety, and reached out to grab the boy's hand. "It's okay." This time, it was softer.
"Are you sure?" Hoseok looked over at Yoongi and Yoongi looked over at Hoseok.
"Yep."
"Yoongi, Yoongi the road!" Hoseok screeched. Yoongi's quick reactions quickly swerved them correctly, receiving an annoyed honk from the car they almost went head first into. "That was so close."
"It really was." Yoongi breathed out fiercely, removing his hand from Hoseok's and firmly gripping the steering wheel. "I'm...not the best driver."
"Neither am I." Hoseok giggled and leaned back in his seat, looking over at Yoongi, who now had his attention fully on the road. His eyes softened at the elder, who's hands were slightly pale from his hold on the wheel. "Hyung?"
Yoongi hummed to indicate he was listening, yet he didn't move a muscle. Upon looking for longer, Hoseok noticed his shoulder's were hunched.
"Are you alright?" Hoseok muttered, a larger hand wrapping around the older's, rubbing gently with his thumb in an attempt to calm him down.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Don't worry about me." Yoongi smiled, his grip on the steering wheel relaxing.
"Good." Hoseok leaned back, a smile painting his face. He knew he was in love.
